Tony Snow returns.

By Faiz Shakir on Apr 29th, 2007 at 2:42 pm

Tony Snow returns.

snowWhite House Press Secretary Tony Snow “told fellow alumni at Davidson College that he feels great and plans to return to work Monday.” He has been off work following a March 27 announcement that the colon cancer he was treated for in 2005 had returned and spread to his liver. Snow, who will soon begin chemotherapy, “said the cancer has brought him closer to religion and his family.”

  1. J-rock says:

I wonder if this man realizes that he was the beneficiary of the prayers and good thoughts of people who despise just about every word that fell out of his mouth?

I wonder how that would affect his thinking if he did?

  2. Uncle Ho says:

Too bad he’s back, now we have to endure Snowjob II.

  3. Chauncey Gardner says:

    God must love liars.

  4. Marie says:

    I wish him well….
but don’t we have more than enough religion in the white house?

  5. Raven says:

He’ll become a heroic martyr figure for G. Dubious.
    Tubes and all.

  6. S.D. says:

Don’t like the man, but I hope his Cancer goes into remission. No one deserves Cancer.

  7. Tobey Tall says:

is he closer to his conscience though – I doubt it

  8. Jim says:

I liked Dana Perino better. She wasn’t as effective a liar as Snow, but she’s much, much nicer to look at.

  9. Patrick in Athens says:

    it states religion before family…

    that can’t be good news

  10. hil says:

hope he beats it… Cancer is just devistating on the entire family. he has a fight ahead of him thats for sure. I really hope the entire ordeal can give him some perspective, some gravitas, empathy, humanity, compasion and true UNDERSTANDING of who and what he has been representing.

its time for some serious re-evaluation tony

  11. Chocolate Jesus Love Anulingus says:

    > No one deserves Cancer.

gonna have to disagree with you there. this recurrence sounds like karma to me. so much toxic crap has come out of this guy’s mouth he deserves some in the pooper. he’s an apologist and an enabler for mass murderers. I’m sure theres people out there who’ve had or had family whose had cancer, who wouldnt wish it on thier worst enemy. im not one of those people.

  12. EasyRider says:

    Sorry!

But this is a snow job and has been another PHOTO-OP.

Bush loves those Photo-ops that keeps his critics out of the evening news.

    Comment by S.D. — April 29, 2007 @ 2:52 pm

I do not wish him to use SCIENCE to fight his cancer. GOD gave him the cancer so be it.
FUCK HIM. I hope he dies a horrible, miserable death, like the Iraqi people they have maimed and horrifically put asunder.
Fuck him, and the whole cabal of lying theiving scumbag mothefuckers.

I hold my pity and good will for those I WISH TO SEE upon the earth. Not those that deserve the eternal fires of damnation.
    Good riddance to bad rubbish.

That’s a good question, J-rock. I would hope he would be unable to look at himself in the mirror, but I would probably be disappointed.

  15. Mr. Bush Goes To Hell says:

    Best of health, Tony.

Speaking of religion, does this mean you will STOP LYING to the American public??

It IS one of the Ten Commandments, you know, along with NOT KILLING and NOT STEALING, all of which the people you work for DO.

    On a REGULAR, NON-STOP basis.

    Mr. Bush

  16. Jason says:

I think Dana Perino should stay as Press Secretary. If I’m going to be lied to, I’d rather it come from a pretty face.

  17. katy says:

i also heard that him sat he wasn’t going to lose his great head of hair…

best of luck to ya, tony!

  18. sweetgumroot says:

Stress weakens natural immunities and facilitates disease. I’m sorry for Tony Snow that he is returning to this intensely stressful job. It seems like reckless judgement on his part.

I’m also sorry not to see the impending implosion of Perino on national television. It seemed imminent.

  19. Wretched Refuse says:

GOD gave him the cancer, It is a total hypocrical stance for him to now say he wishes to use SCIENCE to fight it. Are you not happy with what God has done for you Tony???
HMMMM. You ingrateful piece of crap.
May you burn in hell, and die a long horrible death just like the Iraqi people your lies have wrought upon the land of your religion.
I cannot beleive you are actually alive. You are just a sack of protoplasm. Not human.

  20. Mr. Bush Goes To Hell says:

    Tony,

Better start telling the TRUTH. Otherwise, when the time comes, you WILL be with ME and our MASTER,

    SATAN.

The choice is YOURS, Tony. Choose wisely, otherwise I’ll

See you in hell Tony (cause I’LL be THERE),

    Mr. Bush
    MURDEROUS WAR CRIMINAL
    COWARDLY TRAITOR TO THE USA

  21. angryvietnamvet says:

THe sooner this lying sack of shit dies, the sooner I can pop open a bottle of Cordon Rouge….I have a whole case reserved for anything bad that happens to these BAD people in the BushChaney….Chaney’s MI will call for lots of bubbly…..Waiting impatiently…

  22. Station Agent says:

Glad your back, healthy, and ready to stonewall justice some more. Best wishes, Tony.

  23. Lesly says:

Snow, who will soon begin chemotherapy to fight a cancer recurrence, “said the cancer has brought him closer to religion and his family.”

Maybe a bout with cancer is exactly what Jesus would recommend for Mr. Tobias’s spiritual decline.

  24. Kevin Good says:

How dare you ask me questions about death and destruction in the middle east. Don’t you know I’m a caner victim.?

  25. Perry Logan says:

If Tony were a liberal, Anne and Rush would be laughing at him and making lots of “colon jokes” about him. Or saying he was faking it.

  26. Bruce Gorton says:

Here is hoping he makes a full, healthy recovery in time to go down with Bush’s impeachment.

  27. jeanruss says:

it seems lately that some very rich connected people are surviving cancers, that everyone else does not-I have recently lost relatives with similar cancers, and they were told that there was nothing they could do for them-these are prominent state-of -the art centers-is there a cure out there for these people but not for everyone else? It is bizarre that he would be back at work and not receiving chemo immediately-what is going on? I remember an interview about Farrah Fawcett where she was at death’s door, then a month later she’s fully recovered-this does not add up.

  28. randron says:

Closer to religion and his family, eh? Let’s hope it brings him closer to the truth, as well. Lee Atwater was said to have had a change of heart and mind before his death from cancer. It would be nice if Tony found it both untenable and impossible to speak anything but “truth” – indisputable fact, instead of White House spin and prevarication. The only problem: if he did, Perino would be back in a heartbeat!

  29. Karim says:

Well, he can’t complain about his health insurance. 47 million Americans are not as lucky.

  30. Jeffrey Stewart says:

“Snow, who will soon begin chemotherapy to fight a cancer recurrence, “’said the cancer has brought him closer to religion and his family.’”

That will not prevent him from LYING for a living. Sheesh! You think he could have learned something else from the experience!

  31. piltdown says:

    “God” gave him the cancer.

How DARE he go against “gods” will.

By using SCIENCE none the less! The very school of thought that “forced ‘god’ out of the schools”!

    Tony Snow is ANTI-CHRISTIAN!

  32. SKdeA says:

Shows the desperation of the administration that they are yanking him back into work even before chemo…
Going for the sympathy form the press corps? Just needed a better liar than Dana? She does suck at it.
And I agree, being an enabler for these war criminals has gotta have some karmic payback.

  33. Yachts and Lattes says:

I’m sick and tired of all this Perino love. I mean, she’s no Dustee Tucker.

  34. Shane says:

I bet in no time I will be as sick of him as I am of Dana Perino. Listening to lies is tiresome.

  35. Jim says:

If you thought the WH press pulled its punches before, and I did, you ain’t seen nothing like the kid glove treatment Snow is in for.

Now whenever David Gregory or John Roberts or any of the 200 members of the WH press corps try to nail down an answer from this slithering tool for the corrupt Bush Administration, they’ll be accused of mugging a sick man.

BushCo is shameless about exploiting situations like this. BushCo will use anyone’s misfortune to milk sympathy for itself.

  36. veritas says:

I wouldn’t wish this dx on anyone since colon cancer is always a “death sentence” and the particular stage will dictate precisely how long Tony has. Colon Cancer is not curable, as we know but “preventable” with screening colonscopy, etc.

Now, if in this brief span of 4 weeks, a true “miracle” has occurred for Tony and he has found religion and reconnection with the things of life which matter, then I would expect that his lying will stop as well. You can’t have one without the other: Morality and lying. It does not compute.

Cognizant of what a seasoned spinmeister (aka propaganda-spewing liar) he’s become, cynically, I don’t believe that a religious conversion is possible in that span of time. We can only hope that Tony doesn’t return to his past MO for the cancer and it’s concomitant necrosis within will only accelerate it’s pace when he pollutes himself with the continued contamination of his body/mind from the pernicious effects of deceit, lies, and overt corruption.

  37. veritas says:

Unfortunately, Tony’s return will be short-lived and I wouldn’t expect him to last the summer with the chemotherapy he will experience. It will make him so sick that he won’t be able to work any longer. If it’s Stage 4 and metastisized to the liver, he has only a matter of months to live.

  38. veritas says:

This new photo tells it all. This disease ravages so horribly and it can be seen on him at this point.

  39. Republicans are the Fear and Smear Party says:

Tony Snow = airhead, delusional, deceitful, excellent liar.
Dana Perino = airhead, delusional, deceitful, fairly good liar.

The White House will definitely welcome back Tony.

  40. veritas says:

The one thing we can all celebrate is that bleach-blonde airhead Perino will be gone. She was crashing and burning so the white house was hell bent on retrieving Tony, that’s certain. During the past week, Dana had a total meltdown and was losing it…..not a very pretty sight. She’s in way over her head, poor neophyte!

  41. katy says:

If you thought the WH press pulled its punches before, and I did, you ain’t seen nothing like the kid glove treatment Snow is in for.

    Comment by Jim — April 29, 2007 @ 5:37 pm

that is a very good point… good insight there…
    something to look forward to…
    ugh…

  42. CONservative says:

“said the cancer has brought him closer to religion and his family.”

Well let’s see what being brought ‘closer to religion’ does for him during those press conferences. As a human being I hope he overcomes. As a defender/apologist/accomplice for these fascists I believe they blasphemize the name of our Lord and Savior. Thou shalt not bear false witness, Tony. If you’ve been brought ‘closer to religion’ then hopefully there won’t be anymore Snow-jobs, so to speak.

  43. Jim says:

Let’s make sure that the WH press never forgets that Snow is allowing himself to be used by BushCo. In his last weeks and months of life (it’s in his liver, he’s a dead man walking), Snow has chosen to be used, to be a tool for BushCo. That’s because Snow is a “true believer.” He believes that the totalitarian regime of BushCo is where it’s at. “The end justifies the means.” He believes it’s ok to lie and deceive the American people.

Maybe Snow’s “closer to religion” comment means he’s praying for the miracle of rapture, and he’s got do what he can to speed it along. Whatever it is, I have no sympathy for him or anybody who supports BushCo. What they’re up to isn’t in Americans’ interests. What they’re up to isn’t in anyone’s interests, but BushCo’s own interests.

These are bad people. Every time we realize that, when it’s crystal clear that there is nothing honorable or noble about them and that they’re up to no good, we are shocked by that revelation and become paralyzed. It’s not just incompetence. They’re criminals. But we backtrack, question it again and again because it’s so hard to believe. In the time we’ve spent questioning our perceptions, BushCo has moved ahead to consolidate its gains and hold on power. What then do we do? We reassess it all. Again.

BushCo really is that bad, that criminal, that sinister. Really.

Nancy Pelosi can get away with not letting impeachment proceedings begin because we let her. Unless Dems get off the dime, tell the people BushCo is corrupt and needs to be impeached, they’re co-conspiracists with BushCo. Not a day should go by without Pelosi’s office getting swamped with phone calls for BushCo’s impeachment.

  44. chimpy 3000 says:

what a week to come back… he’s gonna wish he stayed in bed. for some reason, though, I much prefer being lied to by tony than perino because at least you can tell he’s spinning a whole arsenal of intellectually dishonest parlor tricks, while perino just tries to say up is down and black is white with a straight face.

  45. jonny says:

I’m glad you’re doing better, Tony Snow.

You must start telling the truth.

  46. Jim in Portland says:

I’m glad the cancer has “brought him closer to his religion and his family.” I wonder if it has brought him any closer to realizing the truth about the administration that employs him.

  47. big papa says:

I’m going to give Tony boy Snow job (aka, Satan’s helper)…

    …the benefit of the doubt…

    …I doubt anything he says…

    …will benefit any of us…

  48. Marie says:

It is impossible for anyone who has a true sense of his religion, or god, or goodness, or the light, or whatever he calls goodness, to work in and for this corrupt, immoral, unethical and criminal White House.
    Mutually exclusive.

  49. upright left says:

Comment by Chocolate Jesus Love Anulingus — April 29, 2007 @ 3:12 pm

Now there’s what I like to hear. A liberal with the nerve to admit his ill will towards people. None of this wanting the best for everybody crap.

  50. a_dem says:

Chemo sucks. Wouldn’t it be great if there were an immunotherapy that could cure cancer? Urge the FDA to take the first step in immunotherapies by supporting the approval of Provenge for prostate cancer.

    ALL hate mongers.

I wish them NO HARM and NO ILL WILL.

God will judge the good and EVIL (see above), and if the fire-and-brimstone evangelists are RIGHT,

these coxuckers plus EVIL people like Bush, Cheney, AbuGonz, Rummy, etc. will be members of

    SATAN’S BAND

    for eternity….

    Tony, best of health.

For the sake of your FAMILY and your IMMORTAL SOUL,

you better start telling the TRUTH,

See you in hell Tony (cause I’LL be THERE),

What have you learned from mine, paul?

  58. foolme1ns says:

Which religion does Tony claim to be a member of? Which of the worlds religions extolls the virtue of lying?

I wonder if he will do like Lee Atwater and try to make amends for all of the evil he did.

  59. sconset117@yahoo.com says:

As a cancer survivor, I am amazed he is coming back to work so quickly. I don’t know the protocol that will be followed but if it is like the chemo I had, he is in for such a tough ride that he had better hope he’s found Jesus because there were times I couldn’t believe things could get any worse.

Personally, he’s not my cup of tea but I hope he gets better.

Veritas–are you a doc and did you go to school in Cambridge, MA?

  60. chimpeach says:

“said the cancer has brought him closer to religion and his family.”

Really? Dealing with it the first time didn’t do that? He had to get hit with it a second time?

But, Tony, are you really as close as you could possibly be to religion and family? Couldn’t you be a little closer? Maybe if you quit your job…

  61. ValiantVenusGrewFromUranus says:

you can learn alot about ‘progressives’ by reading your responses to this post. Comment by paul — April 29, 2007 @ 8:29 pm

Classic projection paul. You know, when some liberal person gets sick, your wingnut friends like Pat Robertson claim that they are sick because god is punishing them for being evil. Aren’t you glad that progressives don’t believe in the “vengeful god” theory?

Paul, you’re a sad, pathetic little man, that came here *hoping* people would say nasty things about someone that’s clearly suffering a horrific disease. Snow, is a disgusting despicable human being – but do you really think we wish that kind of suffering on others?

Sorry, son, but that’s YOUR pathology, one that you suffer with campus shooters, not the pathology of *progressives*. Dum bass wingnut hatemonger.

  62. KYJurisDoctor says:

    He is wished well.

  63. Paul in LA says:

I hope his cancer brings him closer to God real soon.

I don’t get why people feel sorry for WILLING CO-CONSPIRATORS IN TREASON.

A bullet, a noose, or cancer. Sounds fine to me.

  64. kasinca says:

Glad to see him recovering but he should really look at his lying and repeating lies of the administration…it is appalling to hear each day.

  65. shelly says:

I’m glad he’s doing better… I hope he recovers. I think he’s a liar and doing a terrible disservice to the country with his job, but he doesn’t deserve to die of cancer, no one does. Even those jerks against stem cell research.

  66. JPark says:

I wonder if a brush with death will make him more honest and compassionate. Hey, Tony, how about that stem-cell bill? You pathetic pu$$y.

  67. jack e. jett says:

spewing bullshit must be good for the immune system.

now watch the whitehouse press corp slober all over him, kiss his ass, and let him get by with murder.

when you put tony snow’s cancer up against the iraqi civillian murders,

    mmmmmmmmm you decide.

    jej

  68. Kate Henry says:

Stress is really not good for people who are seriously ill. So Tony is going to go back out there and lie and lie and lie for Bush. That can’t help but be stressful. Why would he want to do that to himself. Does he miss the limelight that much? It’s going to be interesting to see how the White House press corps handles his return. Hopefully they won’t throw him softballs. It’s time for them to start challenging the lies that come out of the Whitehouse day after day.

  69. JPark says:

#67 Lying isn’t stressful for Fox folk. It is natural and healthy.

  70. Chocolate Jesus Love Anulingus says:

    > Paul, you’re a sad, pathetic little man, that came
    > here *hoping* people would say nasty things
    > about someone that’s clearly suffering a horrific disease.

Honestly tho, he hoped right. VVGFU, while I respect your benevolence, and those of everyone else here who doesnt wish snowjob ill, I don’t share it, and I would say there are plenty other lefties who don’t either . I would say the responses here are mixed.

I personally beleive that there is no amount of ill will that could be heaped on these people that would be anything other than righteous retribution and just desserts. Snowjob, and the people he enables, are some of the most greedy, deceitful, hipocritical, vengeful, vendictive, and maliscious people on the face of the planet. I have no doubt, not a single doubt in my mind, that had clinton developed say , prostate cancer during his term, the right wing gasbag airwaves would have been filled with jokes about “monica sucking the cancer out” and “chemo will be the only thing that keeps his fly zipped”.

I have NO doubt in my mind that MANY (not all) right wingers would be piling on if this happened to a prominent left wing figure. Look at the swiftboaters, the imaginary illegitimate black children, and the purple heart band-aids. Is my lack of doubt misplaced in this regard?

Would you wish Hitler well if he had gotten cancer? While Bush and his ilk arent quite as bad, I would argue that the difference is merely one of degree. Before the decade is out I imagine near a million iraqi’s will be dead because of what we’ve started. Compare this to the several million people who died in the holocaust (no, i dont believe it was a full 6 mil, scream at me for being a “holocaust denier” if you want), and Dick, Dumbya , and everyone who aids and abets his crimes aren’t that different from the third reich (except they arent as snazzy dressers).

One will say “well Bush didnt put them in camps and kill them intentionally, so its not the same”, but honestly, dead is dead. This is totally arguable, but in my mind, commiting and continuing an unjustified act, knowing that people will be killed and continue to be killed in the process, is exactly as morally unjustified as killing them intentionally. I would make the analogy that shooting someone simply because you don’t like them is no more morally reprehensible than trying to remove someones liver to sell, knowing they will die without it.

Ha,and no, I’m not one of those “lets hug everybody” liberals. While those people mean well, I think they are a bit naive about how the world works.
I’m definitely a “fight fire with fire” type.

Your nephew sounds like he was a great guy. My condolences for your loss.

#69 I am sorry to hear that Buck. There is nothing worse than a kid dying.

  75. Buck Fush says:

Breaks your heart for sure, the whole family has shed many tears over it, he was a football star, a school play and chores star, his girl friend since he was 15 is the youngest Seagal (Seahawks cheerleader) he had it all, then, boom, it is over, makes you just weep for the kids in that situation.

Thanks for the blessings for him

  76. Buck Fush says:

If you Google his name, (Travis Britt) it shows up….it was a big deal. Kid, great kid gets cancer and dies in a year, Snow it alive and lieing, not freaking fair.

    #69, Buck

I wish to add my condolences to those already offered.
