Dear Beck, your response of trying to scapegoat scientists, secularists, and constitutional rights activists is a more accurate behavior that equates to Hitler. And while no one is saying you WILL round up the liberals – your comments surely show you’d LIKE to round up Gore and Liberals. Another WingNUT projection, brought to you from the FINED folks at FoxHole News.

May 1st, 2007 at 7:56 pmGlen Beck is absolutely right about how this is being sold by trying to panic people and get them to agree to giving up their rights to be safe. He’s just got the wrong cause and the wrong cast. In other words, he has it bassackwards, as one might expect.

Beck is fundamentally conservative, for which he has a right. All the nonsense and hot air is a character he has developed. It makes money in a valued demographic. Look at the ads during his show.

“Pollution Huggers”
Their issue isn’t really about the science of global warming. They are angry because their sponsors (The Old-School Conservative Power Base) has billions in “stranded capital” in petroleum and coal investments.
That is what this is all about.

May 1st, 2007 at 8:26 pmAren’t the people who deny global warming the same crowd of junk scientists who produced paper after paper to prove tobacco didn’t cause lung cancer? In fact, wasn’t one of their early theories that smoking didn’t cause cancer, but caused global warming instead?
What puzzles me is how Glenn Beck figured out that one could take over the world by creating an Enemy to frighten people and make them unite behind a common cause and he didn’t come up with Islamofascism and Bush.
I’m surprised he didn’t reprise Pascal’s Wager. In the Global Warming version, one can choose. If Global Warming is a hoax and one does nothing, the supply of oil & coal will run out in 2050 and we can panic then about alternative energy. If Global Warming is true and one does nothing, we all die of heat, hunger, and thirst in 2050. Since we have to find alternative energy sources anyway, isn’t the safest bet to do something now? The window for responding is rapidly closing.
Prove to me, Mr Beck, that you aren’t working for our enemies?
May 1st, 2007 at 8:31 pmAs far as I can tell, Beck’s logic is that if you focus on one particular enemy with a goal in sight, you are like Hitler and the Nazis. Using that method of reasoning Bush is also like the Nazis because he has chosen to focus on eliminating terrorism. Saying Beck’s thinking resembles a 1st Grade logic is an insult…to a 1st Grader.

And you still can’t tell me after two months what illustrious people were produced by your supposedly superior private high school, eh?
May 1st, 2007 at 9:31 pmMars melt hints at solar, not human cause for global warming, scientist says.
In 2005 data from NASA’s Mars Global Surveyor and Odyssey missions revealed that the carbon dioxide “ice caps” near Mars’s south pole had been diminishing for three summers in a row.
Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of space research at St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, says the Mars data is evidence that the current global warming on Earth is being caused by changes in the sun.
“The long-term increase in solar irradiance is heating both Earth and Mars,” he said.

May 1st, 2007 at 9:42 pmWhen is CNN going to fire this idiot? This is ridiculous that this type of material is allowed on a news channel.
The first amendment gives him the right to say whatever he likes, but he may do so on a street corner with the rest of the mentally unstable transients ranting about conspiracy theories and the coming apocalypse. News networks have a responsibility to provide objective coverage. And for those shows which take editorial stances, they too, still have a responsibility to maintain a civilized public discourse.
Glenn Beck should have been fired back when he asked Congressman Keith Ellison (I think that’s his name) if he was working with the enemy… this should be more than ample grounds for his dismissal.

May 1st, 2007 at 9:53 pmFunny, the NeoCons have led the field in 21st century tactics borrowed from early 20th century National Socialism. Beck tries to bill himself as a Moderate Conservative. As a true conservative, I can tell you that he is a NeoCon supporter through and through. I also warn my friends left of center, don’t be co-opted by the NeoCon lies regarding popular liberal causes. The only reason NeoCons want open immigration is to exploit poor slobs for bigger profits, not to raise them above their nations poverty. NeoCons are out to globalize our world under the heel of the Big Business/Big Gov’t boot and freedom will be the price we all pay. I may not totally agree with Al Gore’s conclusions, but I love a world where he can plead his case without fear and I applaud his efforts to work for positive debate.

Fortunately, the only one he is managing to take down is himself.
May 1st, 2007 at 10:19 pm78. Comment by muckdog – Whats your point? Did you read the article? It’s not in support of Habibullo Abdussamatov’s theories dumbass.
Duh…page 2:
“His views (Habibullo Abdussamatov) are completely at odds with the mainstream scientific opinion,” said Colin Wilson, a planetary physicist at England’s Oxford University.
“And they contradict the extensive evidence presented in the most recent IPCC [Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] report.” (Related: “Global Warming ‘Very Likely’ Caused by Humans, World Climate Experts Say” [February 2, 2007].)
Amato Evan, a climate scientist at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, added that “the idea just isn’t supported by the theory or by the observations.”
The article goes on to explain why Habibullo Abdussamatov theories don’t hold water.

There I fixed that for you. I’m sure it was just an oversight.
May 2nd, 2007 at 12:13 amI just tried an interesting thought experiment:
The US defense budget in 2007 is $532billion. The US imports 12 million barrels of oil a day. Say that 1/3 of the US military is deployed now in and around Iraq by budget in order to prevent someone/anyone else gaining control/monopoly of the oil supply.
Guess what that translates to in $s per barrel of premium the US tax payer is paying to keep the lid on the oil price?
About $40 dollars a barrel….meaning the price of oil to the US taxpayer is actually $100 a barrel, while everyone else pays $60 – what a deal!
Probably lots of flaws in that argument…. still interesting to think of it that way.

May 2nd, 2007 at 12:47 amReally? When are you going to back up one of your dumb charges with something convincing? Comment by michael — May 2, 2007 @ 12:29 am
Really? When are you going to stop being dumb, so people will stop laughing at you?
May 2nd, 2007 at 12:47 amHey JPark, what about the Iranians, they are generally called ‘terrorists’ by the reichwing….they’ve got a lot of oil fields too.
And Saddam, he was on the terrorist sponsoring nations list too… although I got confused when Rummy still went to Baghdad and helped Dow sell him those crop sprayers with the nice chemicals to go along with them…..anyhow Saddam’s Iraq had a lot of oil fields too.
And then there’s the UAE – you know, two 9-11 hijackers and a lot of oil themselves….
You know what JPark, with all these terrorists in charge of all this oil and with Iraq’s oil being in te charge of Saddam who was also on the US terror list…. what amazes me is why they haven’t put the price of gas at $8 already…..
mikey, I guess I’ve answered my own questions to you…. your $8/terrorist/Iraqi oil argument seems to be somewhere between a strawman and a post hoc logical fallacy. You are also missing key parts to your assertion, like how the terrorists are going to gain ‘control’ of Iraq’s oil and even who the ‘terrorists’ are. Missing too is a critical analysis of the impact of Iraqi oil either on or off the market. I suggest you read some Oil Drum and for a really different perspective, some Greg Palast.
Tell you what, homework for today is to look those fallacies up and write down their meanings with an example of each from your own postings (other than this one). Then you can watch some TV or perhaps come and post here again. Kay?
May 2nd, 2007 at 12:48 amWhy are you so afraid of terrorists controlling oil fields? Are you afraid they won’t sell to the US?
Comment by JPark — May 2, 2007 @ 12:37 am
Only American terrorists are allowed to operate the Iraqi fields. What kind of Iraqi lovers are you? Pussies.
May 2nd, 2007 at 12:49 amNeedless thing? Preventing terrorists from taking over oil fields is needless? Comment by michael — May 2, 2007 @ 12:33 am
You mean like the ones controlled by the Wahabi Saudi’s – of which Osama’s family is a prominent member? The same Saudis that are largely responsible for supplying the money, arms and even people fighting us in Iraq? Too late, you inept republicans already did your deal with the devils on this issue.
Wait, your a liberal. Of course it’s needless. Comment by michael — May 2, 2007 @ 12:33 am
It would have been needless if you’d have spent that 2 trillion dollars we’re going to spend on Iraq costs on getting us off oil. St*pid wingNUT.

I just thought of another guy I knew. This sad mofo had a drinking/drug issue and would bounce back and forth between his born again ways and his drinking/pot smoking ways.
We worked together a while ago. He got real bad one time and told the boss that God told him to quit his job.
Later on I asked his friend (that was also a born again) how he was doing. I said he needed professional help, his reply was that he just needed to keep going to church. I was pissed and wanted to take both of those meat heads to a cult deprogrammer.

I indeed don’t have background in science, but as a professional interpreter/translator, I have worked at conferences with and on translating papers for some of the world’s top scientists, including Nobel Prize winners, university presidents, etc. Sorry, Mikey, but I trust their opinions and research on global warming more than guys like you and Beck without any background in science. Also, my stepfather was a scientist and Republican but was turning away from the party before he died because of its anti-science stance. I think I can say I’ve spent a lot more quality time with scientists than you.
May 2nd, 2007 at 3:55 amBTW, you complain of being called names here, but how about the names you call us “dummies,” “moronic liberals,” “terrorist lovers,” etc? Moreover, you still haven’t answered my question about your high school.
Lora,
If if helps, I am a scientist, and michael and beck are indeed full of $hit.
Problem is, being filled with $hit up to and beyond the eyeballs, it becomes impossible to be able to see that one is full of $hit. Kind of a catch-22 situation.

Right muckdog, I’m sure you are equally bothered by other hipocritcal positions like people who claim to be “pro-life” yet strongly support executing possibly innocent people, and seem to think anyone who dies in war is just “collateral damage”. For any hipocracy you can lay at the feet of people like Al Gore, I can lay a dozen at the feet of dumbya and his republican meth smokin gay prostitute hiring, child moesting hooker patronzing brethern.
YOur right tho, I think Al Gore is just trying to use the cult of global warming to make money for more fried chicken, I don’t think him writing a book about his time in the white house during the media obsession with Clinton’s penis would make enough money to feed his food habit. Thank god we have the kind philanthropists at Exxon and OPEC to dispel the horrible lie that our pollution has any effect on the environment, and thank god thier willing to give away 2500$ of their profit an hour to help provide a measly stipend for their experts to tour the world in thier noble and selfless quest to save us from these GreenGasHaus Nazi’s… I mean, even if they do happen to be right, the rapture is coming to make all the decent people evaporate in a crowd of holy righteousness, right?
May 2nd, 2007 at 5:02 amI was very disappointed today when I saw the ad for Glenn Beck’s Global Warming show all over Salon.com

Oh c’mon petey. Hitler was trying to “save the world” from the “lessor races” using bogus science, remember? Beck is saying that Gore is using bogus science to make people afraid of global warming like Hitler used bogus science to make people afraid of people he wanted to slaughter. See how that works?
May 2nd, 2007 at 9:50 amBeck using Hitler and the Jews as a comparasion for Al Gore and global warming was a very poor or even, a ridiculous choice. I watched An Inconvenient Truth and believe that the Earth is warming and human activity has some impact on the Earth’s temperature. But I have seen enough Amway presentations to know when I am being sold something. An Inconvenient Truth is a sales presentation that uses some misleading techniques to presuade you that the problems with climate change are worse (or will be worse) than they really are (and that man’s impact is more significant than it really is). It is easy for me to envision entities that have an interest in discounting the idea of global warming either for profit or political motivation. It should be just as easy for you to recognize that Al Gore and scientists involved in climate change research could have motivations that have nothing to do with the Earth’s warming. As with just about everything else, the truth lies somewhere in the middle, but probably not in ‘An Inconvenient Truth’.

May 2nd, 2007 at 10:19 amThere’s that great “thinker” Glenn Beck at it again! What well-thought-out and complex … uh, /things/ he utters at every conceivable juncture: it is obvious that he is a literate, thoughtful person, with a deep grounding in many disciplines.
Actually, strike that: what I meant to write that what emerges from his mouth are the brown, knotted equivalents of verbal and conceptual turds.
And often, it seems, he just really has to … um, /go/. From his /mouth/. In /words/.
But yeah, he’s a wonderful /thinker/.
May 2nd, 2007 at 10:33 amupright left. I know it is blasphemous (?), but I hope I can be forgiven when Al Gore rules the world. I tried to have an open mind when I watched ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ and I’ll try to keep an open mind when I watch Beck’s show tonight.
May 2nd, 2007 at 11:28 amcharging gore with megalomania is the most ridiculous item of monkey-doo flinging i’ve ever heard repeated – especially in light of the actual, verifiable megalomaniacs on parade at the WH daily. it’s tantamount to saying the dalai lama is bent on ruling the world.

May 2nd, 2007 at 11:42 pmInteresting that almost nobody (except for maybe 2 people) that has responded regarding the Glenn Beck special about global warming, had not actually seen the special (given the dates and times of comments), but the absolute HATRED that comes across is unbelievable. Almost all comments have to do with siliencing someone who has a different opinion than yours who can disprove yours….SCARY. Yes there is a climate change happening……but, scientists feel that this is caused almost entirely by natural cycles of the earth and the Sun. One of the proven facts, which was stated incorrectly in the Gore’s movie, is that the Earth’s temperature rises before CO2 level rises, not CO2 then temperature. When told by Al Gore that debate is over regarding global warming…..a polititian…..I would rather here from a scientist who has a real understanding of the climate. Glenn’s special was mearly to say….There is another side that needs to heard before the debate is declared to be over…..your getting snowed by one side only.
May 3rd, 2007 at 9:50 amI am more and more learning that the word Liberal is synonymous with the word hypocrite. How many times have liberals called Bush or other conservatives Nazis?
May 3rd, 2007 at 10:00 am#63…exactly the same thing rosie makes her millions at for 4 hours a day of bloviating bullsh**. don’t get me wrong, Glenn Beck is in fact the luckiest idiot in show business. he has stolen his act from people MUCH more talented than he. don’t worry. he’ll be found out soon enough.
May 3rd, 2007 at 10:58 amWhere were all of you Glenn Beck haters when Al Gore agreed with a reporter that anyone who denies man made global warming is the equal of a holocaust denier? Then many progressives constantly refer to Bush as Hitler, and the right wing as the Reich wing, another Nazi reference.
Then someone mentions that equal airtime needs to be given to the opposing point of view? Why is it that media research shows that 97% of media reports on global warming caused by man have no reference to any other possibilities, or that there are legitimate climatoligists who think CO2 is not responsible? In this case, there needs to be a 47% reduction in media reports of CO2 driven global warming as fact. But that doesn’t work to the likings of “progressives” so its only when a conservative gets time to air opposing viewpoints that they want to whine. For anyone who actually watched the special, Beck included those who believe global warming is caused by humans, yet disagree with the CO2 production as being the leading cause.
So once again, lets recap:
Progressives like to trounce any conservative who uses references to Nazi Germany in their opinions, but enjoy comparing Republican leaders to Hitler and the Republican party to the Nazi’s.
Progressives also enjoy yelling about conservatives getting airtime on their channels that don’t have equal opposing views, while ignoring the left leaning channels who do the same thing.

May 3rd, 2007 at 11:53 amYou know, it really is indicative of your entire line of thinking to come here, and try to explain why you think it is OK to seek to silence a man for speaking his opinion, when progressives and groups like the ACLU are the first to go crying to anyone at the very THOUGHT of an infringement on their 1st amendment rights.

OK. I’m a moderate – socially liberal leaning, fiscally conservative leaning. The bottom line here is that everybody wants to spew their opinions and nobody wants to listen. For those of you in this forum who’ve said how much they hate Glenn Beck, I’d bet not a single one of you has listened to him for more than 5 minutes. OK, sure, there are a few of you that will still hate him after listening for more. But if you’d listen you’d know that he doesn’t tend to share his opinions without doing his homework. So, even if the conclusions are wrong, they still deserve a listening with an open mind so that you can make your own decisions.
For the record, I do not agree with everything Beck says. I’ve listened to hiim and I listened to Air America and I watch some of the mainstream news too. I like to hear multiple opinions.
I have seen so many times where both the left and the right have taken snippets of what the opposite side has said and completely distorted it by removing the context. It’s so pathetic that it’s almost funny. Almost. So now the left is bashing Glenn for making a Hitler reference w/r/t Al Gore? Hmm, pot calling the kettle black? Those of you that have actually listened to Glenn will know that a lot of his comments are tongue and cheek.
The intended point of the Global Warming special was that YES, there is indeed a global warming trend. BUT, are we responsible for it and is it really as bleak as is being reported? Listen to the facts, not the hype and do your homework BEFORE you come to a conclusion. If you honestly believe 100% of everything you hear either from the mainstream media OR from conservative talk radio then you’re doing yourself an incredible disservice. Get some perspective.
So, shall we go on with the left believing that the right wants to kill innocent people in wars and the right believing that the left wants to kill babies so that they can have pro choice? Come on, let’s exercise some common sense. People are just not that far apart and we need to start believing that or we’re going to be in real trouble.
May 4th, 2007 at 1:14 pmI have to agree with BN, most of you probably have not even listened to Glenn beck and dont even know what he is all about. And yet you are calling for him to be silenced… Were you there to ask for Rosie to be silenced during her rants of the 911 saying fire cant melt steel (which is how steel is made)and it was our government that killed those victims? Maybe Al Sharpton to be silenced for calling the duke lacross team players of being rapists even though they were found innocent? No, it seems you are pretty quick to damn anyone with an opinion other than your own, and thats pretty sad.
Most of you probably dont know Beck isnt the biggest fan of Bush and thinks that using ethonal is stupid. Most of you probably dont know that Beck thinks scooter libby should be in jail for Purgery. He tries to be as balanced as possible, but due to the fact that he has a conservative view, its automatically assumed that he is a hate monger racist fascist bigot. Those that say he is for big oil, must not have watched the global warming show and how he was promoting the electric car http://www.teslamotors.com/index.php?js_enabled=1 . Or that the new energy efficient light bulbs contain mercury… Where or where to dispose of those earth friendly light bulbs… hmm?? http://www.ashlandcitytimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070414/NEWS01/704140362
And now onto Al Gore. http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=nation_world&id=5072659
May 4th, 2007 at 7:58 pmThis is the same person telling you to cut down on your costs as he racks up a 30,000 dollar a year electric bill. The same man that flies all around the world in his private jet poluting the air. I think you should wake up and look at whats really going on. I have to agree with Beck in saying that I too want my children to grow up and still have the beauty that we call earth. But I dont want to be dictated and told what to do by hypocrits that put more of a carbon footprint down in one year then I will in a life time. Especially the people in Hollywood that own their own personal jets and then take their hybrids to an award show to act like they are green, when they really arent, then fly back out to their mansions in their personal jets..
Is Glenn Beck really, one of conservative radio’s most outspoken gasbags? The truth will shock you; Glenn is actually a liberal hack, paid by the Democrats!
I am not trying to scare you, but simply lay out some information so you can draw your own conclusions. I know this revelation seems daunting, and will cause you to ask, “What can I do?†The answer is easier than you might think: educate yourself–pass on what you learn to someone else, encourage him or her to pass it along, and so on. Get informed, stay informed, and use that knowledge to help you act accordingly. You need to realize that Glenn tells us that his show is not about politics or party lines—he reminds us that, at the end of the day, we are not Democrats or Republicans, but Americans.
How did I get there?
Beck orchestrates his programs to attract conservative viewers to his CNN show. He does this by promoting himself as a talk show host with conservative values, thereby causing the two or three conservatives still left in the United States to tune in. He then raises an issue sure to get his right wing audience have blood squirt out their eyes; for example the real story behind energy saving florescent light bulbs. From there, he expounds his views and then, as the clincher, interviews an expert who agrees with everything he says.
Standard sleazy Republican scare tactics you say. Not really, in a Machiavellian plot, so devilish that not even Carl Rove could have dreamed it up, the subliminal messages throughout Glenn’s programs are fiendishly planned to convert conservatives to the Democratic cause.
Think about it. I may not be a journalist but I am a thinker. Glen tells his audience, ad nausea, that he is a conservative and a recovering alcoholic, ex drug addict. Conclusion: conservatives are, or were, alcoholic drug users. One of his viewers says to himself, or herself, I’m not a druggie so I must be a liberal Score one for the Democrats.
Next, Glenn’s “real story,†and his “expert†interviewee, are so bizarre that even the John Mark Karr saga seems normal by comparison. The second of his viewers says to himself, or herself, gee, I just bought a GE Energy SmartTM light bulb at Wal Mart so I must be a liberal Score two for the Democrats.
Finally, Glenn signs off by calling his audience “sick, twisted freaks.†That does it, Glenn’s last, very insulted viewer says to himself, or herself, I may be sick and twisted but I aint no friggin freak, and switches to the regular CNN news just in time for Anderson Cooper. Cooper does a segment on the GOP debate and, bingo, score three for the Democrats.
I know that the truth can hurt but this goes beyond plain hypocrisy. There is only one solution if you want to save neo-conservative values. Stand up as a true conservative and contact CNN/U.S. president Jonathan Klein urging him to condemn Glenn Beck’s chilling attempts to convert the faithful.
