Moreover, “unconfirmed” is not synonymous with “false.” To state that a report is “false,” it must be demonstrably so.

Duh. I know unconfirmed and false are not synonymous. Are you having reading comprehension problems lately?

What is false is the report that Masri was dead. It doesn’t matter how you spin it, Exley: If you report Masri is dead as a fact when you don’t know or he isn’t, then that report is false. Plain and simple.

Murderous? They came to power through an election, and had armed *terrorists* that were destroying them. By the rules of engagement in Iraq, they would be the US, and the terrorists supported by the CIA would be Al Qaeda.

On Topic. I think that another alQaeda leader being killed isn’t really a big deal. Just like when they touted that Zarqawi was killed. We got Masri as a replacement and word has it that he is more deranged than Zarqawi. I am not sure that any of our troops need to deal with someone worse than this latest guy. Do I think he should stay in power? Hell friggin’ no.

But, I think that we went about this Global War on Terror all wrong. I was in the Field Artillery myself in Desert Storm, so I speak from experience. We shouldn’t have went in with regular ground forces. I think lots of teams of Special Force/Navy Seal types. In other words, use the terrorists number one weapon against them. Terror. Strike fear into the hearts of the terrorist by taking out their leaders while they are sleeping. Go in and assassinate Saddam and get the hell out. Go in take out Osama and get out.

If you announce the date you are going to attack and then only drop one bomb, you allow everybody to run and hide for cover.

“Shock and awe” turned into “shock and ahhhhhh, we lost track of them.”

And then we came rumbling in with tanks to knock down a statue.

On this subject, I say that i don’t doubt this was a “smoke and mirrors” op, but you never know. If they had intel that the “target” was in the firefight, and the iraqi’s reported him killed, by the time the story could be verified, it would have been leaked to every news outlet over there, and then on to what was reported.

I don’t have a problem with you even if you have a completely different outlook on every subject than I do. That is what makes the world go around. If everybody was exactly the same it would suck. We just don’t want threads derailed. I don’t mind answering questions, without them we don’t have conversation.

The trolls are on a mission to stop any communication that we have. You want to do some research, but drop it in the middle of a battle between us and the trolls. The trolls intentionally drop off topic posts when a conversation is just getting going.

So, my suggestion is to post your survey in a dead thread or in the Think Fast thread and then point people to it from a live thread. But, don’t just take people out of the live thread, participate in the live thread.

And also, if you want our opinion, give us yours too.

Asking questions is not the issue it is 1) how you ask them, 2) the fact that you are derailing a thread for your own benifit and 3) asking the questions just to get a rise.

There is a thread everyday that is called Think Fast. That is an open thread where you can talk about whatever you want and take polls.

This thread is about the false report of an al Qaeda leader used to distract American “news” outlets from publishing news about Mission Accomplished Day.

I tried to help you out and you ignore it. So, then be a troll. Don’t hold back. Do it.

What do we replace it with?

Mercenary media?

Bought and paid for media?

Emasculated media?

I really could use some help on this…
