For the first time ever, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom has added Iraq to its “watch list” of countries where worship is under severe threat.

And of course we’re spreading democracy and freedom though.

  2. unbelievable says:

While getting rid of “worship” in general, and replacing it with thinking would end many of the world’s problems, it does appall me that this is Bush’s idea of spreading ‘freedom’.

  3. chris L says:

I don’t know what they are talikng about. In Iraq you are free to worship however you please. As long as you are a devout Shia Muslim.

  4. Gregor Samsa says:

The Bush cultists will probably be here soon, making up excuses for this sorry state of affairs in Iraq.

I bet these excuses will run along the lines of “it’s the Iraqis fault”, distracting from the fact that one of the stated reasons for the continuing occupation is/was to bring democracy, freedom, and security to Iraq.

That Iraq has been put on the U.S. CIRF’s own watchlist is nothing but one big, blinking, neon light sign pointing to yet another failure of the Bush administration.

But, hey, it could be that the US CIRF is part of the big, bad, radical left-wing conspiracy to make Pres Bush look bad, you know, since they are also ignoring all the good news coming out of Iraq.

    /sarc off
