The problem is that the battlefield is no place for romance for women or men. Women have an easier PT test to allow them in, even though they cant drag a 250lb soldier off the field with armor on so they are a danger. Gays have a higher chance at disease and AIDS, I dont want them bleeding all over me. So I think Women and Gays should be banned. I have been in the Army for 10 years, and really dont want some pillowbiter checking me out in the showers.

Fuuucck all you liberal shitforbrains who dont like the military anyway. Go to hell where you belong!

like a typical waaahhhhpublican, mc cain finds himself in the erroneous, delusional position of fantasizing all gay men would be drooling over his ass. what is it with these fools overestimating their desirability? the truly funny part is recent events have shown, waahhhpublican men can't get laid without paying for it, for either men or women. perhaps mc cain should actually try talking with people in the military, he would find overwhelmingly they don't give a rat's ass if a person is gay or not, what they are concerned about is whether or not that person can effectively do their job. then again, mc cain has more pressing things to do other than talking to the troops, like buying 5 dollar rugs in baghdad

That's the last thing that this country needs is another war-monger!Hopefully John Edwards gets the Democratic nomination...if not..Hillary Clinton or Mr. Obama will get my vote...without hesitation!

Who said I was 'god-less'?? I said quit forcing me to believe in YOUR god. Go back and read what I wrote and not just 'selectively'. (#129) You force your god on everyone by trying to legislate what YOU BELIEVE TO BE IMMORAL based upon YOUR god and religious beliefs!!! What gives you the right to impose YOUR morality on anyone else through legislation? If you quote YOUR bible or mention YOUR god you will prove my point. And, if you state biological reasons or 'traditional societal norms' I expect you to quote your sources.

"Yeah but 100% of servicemembers opinions count for shit in the military, and therefore so do all those polls."

You're evading the point. McCain is claiming that allowing gay men and women to server will harm the military because of the risk to morale, unit cohesion, and such. The polls serve to show that McCain is basically talking out his ass. Hence, your point is moot.

"So McCain isn’t as out of step with America as you make him out to be."

Just out of touch with the majority of Americans. That's out of touch enough. In any case, it doesn't really matter, since that has nothing to do with McCain's assertions.

"And lose how many from that 27% of the military that you just told us isn’t comfortable serving with gays ?"

I dunno, obviously, but I doubt very many. We heard these scare stories before when the military was integrated to allow black men to server. And again, when women were allowed to serve. In each case, the gloom and doom predictions simply never happened. Why should we believe they will in this case?

Moreover, gay men and women are already serving with distinction in quite a few standing armies in the world, all without any trouble at all. If those things didn't happen elsewhere, why should we believe they will happen here?

And, finally, there are quite a few openly gay men and women already serving in the military. Time and time again, we've heard reports from service men and women in all branches of the military that they know someone gay and that it doesn't make a damn bit of difference as long as they do their job and can be counted on to have their back in time of combat.

"Wow doesn’t an issue get a little grayer once you introduce a 2nd side of the debate."

Hardly. You'll have to do a hell of a lot better than this to make this topic "gray."

#89 - You are absolutely right!! What someone does in their bedroom is NONE of MY BUSINESS!! So keep it to yourselves. If vociferous homosexuals would quit “sharing” so much personal info they would have far less drama…..

I owe ALL people simple, common courtesy. I owe no one my imprimatur on behaviour I think is immoral.

Valiant,

Quit with the Brit-language crap. Last I checked, we declared our independence in 1776. It's "behavior."

Also, you gay-haters 'assume' that all gays do the same thing. Many gays don't do ass (just oral).

Third...gays are exposed to 'what goes on' in straight bedrooms every day. Ever been to an R-rated movie? Ever seen Britney Spears and Paris Hilton pics? So, excuse me but if you see two guys kissing or holding hands, well that's only fair.

The overwhelming majority of the military supports equal rights for all servicemembers. Last December, a poll of servicemembers in Iraq and Afghanistan found that 73 percent were “comfortable with lesbians and gays.” A 2004 poll found that a majority of junior enlisted servicemembers believed gays and lesbians should be allowed to serve openly in the military, up from 16 percent in 1992.

Yeah but 100% of servicemembers opinions count for shit in the military, and therefore so do all those polls.

That's why it's called the "chain of command" and not the "chain of suggestions". Why they imprison people for not obeying directives or for substituting your own opinions about what should be done instead of obeying those of your superiors.

Question: WTF kind of % of the military do you think favours getting up at 6am and doing dress drills ?

Answer: It doesn't matter because the military isn't a democracy and opinions of soldiers don't count.

Furthemore, 55 percent of Americans believe “gays and lesbians should be allowed to serve openly in the military.”

So McCain isn't as out of step with America as you make him out to be.
In fact he's only slightly more "out of step" with the country than the % of people who thought John Kerry would be a better president than Bush.

While McCain vigorously backs the plan to send thousands of troops to Iraq, he should note that the military could attract as many as 41,000 new recruits if gays could serve openly.

And lose how many from that 27% of the military that you just told us isn't comfortable serving with gays ?
Wow doesn't an issue get a little grayer once you introduce a 2nd side of the debate.

"sorry. we are not dumb enough to check a paper to find right from wrong."

In this case, it doesn't matter, since the Supreme Court has already ruled decisively on this. Poor VT thought she had a real argument for once but she struck out again.

As for the rest of it, dear little VT is just resorting to childish playground insults. Alas for her, I haven't been even remotely bothered by those since I left the first grade. Poor thing; all she's got left is ad hominem attacks.

117. "Pauly wants a cracker….

Thanks kid, thanks for the laughs. You have proven to lack originality, sense of humor and you are poorly educated.

Son, thank you for making me laugh.

Once again, obey me, post away and make me laugh.
"

Sorry. Your going to try harder than that. The truth does not come so easily. Proof or explination is in order for anyone with any sence to believe your feather-light claims.

123. "I take it you weren’t taught how think on your own, were you? all you do is repeate like a parrot what you have been brainwashed to believe."

Perhaps the truth is more common than lies, and that's what you keep hearing, the truth.

ValianttheVenushater, why does homosexuality threaten you so much? Do you have dreams involving the same sex? Do you look into the eyes of a charismatic person of the same gender and feel the urge to kiss them? It would explain your temper tantrums here.

Homosexuality is NOT a religion. Nobody is going door to door with copies of The Joy of Gay Sex trying to convert lost souls. It's not about taking away Christian rights. Unless by Christian rights you mean the right to lord it over the rest of us and impose your will on us all 24/7. But the First Amendment prohibits that kind of behaviour.

I'd like to recommend a bittersweet movie called Gods & Monsters. It's the semi-factual bio of movie director James Whale, the creator of Frankenstein. I think you might learn something from it. Of course, you're probably scared of movies that make you feel and care, because they just might lead you to be compassionate. And that would go against your Fire & Brimstone code.

And David and Jonathan have been codewords for gay couples for centures. Consider 2 Samuel 1:26

I grieve for you, Jonathan my brother; you were very dear to me. Your love for me was wonderful, more wonderful than that of women.

"PBJ - I don’t care if you’re a eunich, a gay man, a straight mom, an overweight butch lesbian, etc."

Just pointing out the obvious to you, dear heart, that online I can be anything I want to be, as can you.

"It’s been my experience that most “people” who are named Paul by their parents (or call themselves Paul) are male."

Dear heart, what makes you think my name is Paul? Sigh... some people are slow learners, aren't they?

"Normal - –adjective - conforming to the standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal; regular; natural."

Yes, dear, and by those definitions homosexuality is indeed normal, just as it is normal using the clinical definition.

"Obviously, the definition of the word “normal” eludes you"

No, dear, I'm afraid the problem is yours. You simply do not understand the word, I fear. Ah, well... maybe some day.

"otherwise, you apply a definition which suits your poorly crafted 'argument' best."

Dear heart, I'm not making an argument; I'm simply poking holes in yours. An all too easy task, I fear, since your basic argument is that homosexuality is icky. It's clear you know nothing of biology, nothing of psychology or psychiatry, and nothing of the science in this area. I still love the bit about how "the pieces don't fit." I've been passing that one around and everyone's gotten a good laugh at it, gay and straight alike.

"Unlike sexual behaviours, which have morality standards attached to them, being left handed or red headed is 'abnormal',"

No, dear, they aren't, by the strict definition of the word "abnormal," a definition which still eludes you, alas. As for "morality," I fear you have a problem there, as well, since morality is an individual definition, not universal. I consider homosexuality to be quite moral, thanks.

"Those Contitutional Amendments will be a bit toughter to overturn"

So? It will still happen. When you consider just how far gay men and women have come in just the few decades they've been actively fighting for their rights, it's pretty clear that the writing is on the wall. And even more clear when you break down the opinion polls by age.

"I could care less about civil unions - if that allows homosexuals to feel “normal” while they play house, so what."

Just pointing out to you, dear, just how far gay men and women have come. As I've noted, you've already lost. Your hope of a national Constitutional amendment are over, once and for all. And the individual states will come in line, one at a time. But hey, you keep on telling people how icky homosexuality is and how "the pieces don't fit." I'm sure that everyone will give your views the attention they deserve.
