McKay on hit list in March 2005.

By Amanda Terkel on May 3rd, 2007 at 7:00 pm

McKay on hit list in March 2005.

“Former U.S. Attorney John McKay’s name was on a list of federal prosecutors to be fired in March 2005, 18 months earlier than previously reported.” This timing is “contemporaneous with Republican challenges to the closely contested 2004 governor’s election in Washington state, won by Democrat Chris Gregoire. Many supporters of the GOP candidate, Dino Rossi, angrily believed that McKay did not do enough to investigate their claims of voter fraud — something McKay disputes.”

He was supposed to make up the evidence that there wasn’t any of.
That’s his job description, according to der Chymp’s folks.

  2. jeff says:

Let me guess. He was also pursuing charges against Loyal Bushies.

  3. Angry One says:

In July 2005, the sent Rep. Doc Hastings a letter calling on him to ask President Bush for McKay’s ouster.

The letter and the latest PurgeGate news and documents are available here.

When the GOP loses an election, it’s always “voter fraud.” When they’re trying to win an election, intimidation of voters and vote suppression are fair game.

I think McKay, Cummins, Lam, et al are simply fulfilling their committment to uphold the law.

Now why on earth are they surprised that the GOP DOESN’T WANT THE LAW ENFORCED UNLESS IT HELPS THEIR CANDIDATE………….

The beginning of the end for these wingnuts.

  10. Helen Rainier says:

#3 — Interesting letter to Hastings. I think the writer of the letter had some facts incorrect — he assumed McKay was a Democrat. If I’m not mistaken, McKay is either independent or a Republican. Regardless, it’s obvious the request for McKay’s removal was partially predicated on the belief that he was a Democrat.

  11. huskerco says:

The Wall Street Journal previously ran an article that said that McKay was a Democrat. Does anyone have any real good evidence of whether McKay was a Democrat, Republican, or Independent?
