By the way, I’m guessing that most of you on the left can’t be bothered to be factually correct of to even bother to learn anything about our history but Jimmy Carter and Harry S. Truman (both Democrats) had lower opinion polls than Bush does. You talk about the hate filled right wingers but look at yourselves! All you do is spout your hatred for Bush! Valianthater…a large audience means nothing. I watch Bill O and listen to Rush all of the time just to observe how stupid they can get. Probably the same reason you read thinkprogress. One thing I don’t get about conservative christians is how they could possibly support straight up jerks like Limbaugh, Hannity, or Liddy. They appear to be the very antithesis of Christianity. Somewhere along the line, it became cool to be an ass. Maybe the Imus fiasco will help us turn the corner toward a more civil society where kindness, tolerance, and thoughtfulness are rewarded instead of their opposites.

Exactly. I am a state worker. I am NOT getting a 2.4% cost of living adjustment “raise” this year. Our legislators have decided in their great wisdom to give us a (shudder) wonderful $1000 lump sum bonus in November. The cost of living is increasing on a minute-by-minute basis, but my state has proven to have the lowest paid state workers in the entire United States. I have been in the state employment system for over 7 years and still am considered to be in the upper-lower economic class.
