Number of World Bank staffers who have signed a letter expressing concern and calling for a resolution of a crisis involving bank President Paul Wolfowitz. The letter does not explicitly call for Wolfowitz’s resignation, “but wants ‘clear and decisive actions’ to resolve the issue in a way that would illustrate that the institution ‘practices what it preaches’ for good governance and against corruption.”
718? That sounds like a lot, but there must be, like, a thousand people working there.
At least his girlfriend is standing by him.
May 4th, 2007 at 6:01 pmHah! 718 dissatisfied staffers! That’s nothing. These whiners should see how dissatisfied the Iraqis are with Wolfowitz. Now those people really have something to complain about.
/sarcasm
May 4th, 2007 at 6:02 pmA resignation would be clear and decisive.
May 4th, 2007 at 6:03 pmHow many people do work for the World Bank? 718 could be just a drop in the bucket, or most all and anywhere in between.
May 4th, 2007 at 6:05 pmBut his squeeze technically works for the State Dept where she’s paid more than Condi. What exactly that she does that merits this high salary? And has Hollywood got an option on the story?
I hear the paparazzi have hounded Wolfie and Shaha so much lately that they’ve both taken to wearing matching burkas.
May 4th, 2007 at 6:09 pm718 is more than the combined membership of the House & Senate.
May 4th, 2007 at 6:11 pmBeing hung by the neck until dead sounds like a better alternative for the Wolfenschteiner.
May 4th, 2007 at 6:12 pmWhy does TP pay so much attention to this scandal?
What you’re doing is associating and linking only this World Bank scandal with Wolfowitz in the mind of average JoeSixPack American.
Why doesn’t TP focus on the fact that Wolfowitz is responsible for this failed Iraq war? That is the scandal Wolfowitz should be remembered for. Not this chicken-sh*t BS World Bank scandal. You’re giving Wolfowitz a free pass from being remembered for his failed Iraq strategy.
Wolfowitz = IRAQ WAR FAILURE and he needs to be held accountable for that.
Come on TP come up with a special post showing Wolfowitz to be the failure that he is for Iraq. No more World Bank nonsense.
May 4th, 2007 at 6:12 pmThe World Bank is giving Wolfie an amazing opportunity to save face, but he’ll never back down.
He’s going for full disgrace, or nothing. Which is the same thing.
Oh well…
May 4th, 2007 at 6:14 pmjonny, this scandal is intimately linked to the Iraq war. Shaha is the key to selling the idea to invade Iraq. And now we see it all as some tangled love tryst. With oodles of loot and nepotism and hypocrisy.
May 4th, 2007 at 6:22 pmI wonder if the employees that didn’t sign it make up 22% of the World Bank.
May 4th, 2007 at 6:22 pmLet me handle it..I had a cancerious mole called the doctor and chop, chop it’s gone..If I were these guy’s I would write bull shit a letter and tell him he is being fired..No confadince vote by more than a majority and if bull shit bocked I would get the gang together and change the rules to fire his ass…After all that’s what this gang of thieves do all the time…BTW we all need to do the same thing with our white house and this administration..Get angry and raise hell till this bunch of evil basterd’s are out and no I don’t mean to sit on our asses untill the 2008 election…I mean now..Blessings
May 4th, 2007 at 6:24 pmYou miss the point. What they are saying, without being blatant: “Give us the same raise and we won’t say another word. If we have to live by the rules then fire the other two.” That is true in any organization and has been for decades. It is essentially the credo of the Labor Unions. While I don’t necessarily agree with their method I can certainly understand their concern. If this were a Mom and Pop grocery store and Pop handed a clerk a raise for what he had been popping then that is Mom’s concern. In an organization such as the World Bank it is the concern of the entire organization. There are several words that describe the situation but the most acceptable would be “Unacceptable.” Both Wolfie and his Ho must go!

Unfortunately TP cannot rectify all the sins of the bushco alone. That is your responsibility, along with mine, the regulars here at TP, the TP staff, and the rest of the thinking true Americans. I cannot, by myself, understand, digest, analyze, or even dream of creating an acceptable solution to the collective slime the bushco has spread over this Country. We must do it together and we must do it “One Person–One Crime–One time.” It would be wonderful if we could hang all the guilty bastards with one rope, at one time, from the same tree but the rope isn’t long enough and the tree isn’t tall enough. TP taught me that. We need a bunch of trees, a bunch of ropes, and a bunch of hangers. We already know some of the hangees and some of the slime. Let’s get them all for everything: one crime at a time.
May 4th, 2007 at 7:27 pmMy personal view is that anyone who pulls his comb out of his pocket, licks it and combs his hair has as much couth as someone who flashes nuns at a convent gathering (and that is being charitable).
May 4th, 2007 at 7:29 pmOnly a arrogant whore would not leave the bed.
May 4th, 2007 at 7:53 pmClyde,
If TP is paying you now, you should be getting overtime. Good posts, good thoughts.
May 4th, 2007 at 7:54 pmTP,
A few moments ago Comment Number 14 was my reply to #8 jonny. There was ABSOLUTELY nothing offensive about the post and, in fact, it was extremely complimentary to TP. If you are concerned about Cynthia’s (Thanks, Cynthia) comment you needn’t pay overtime, just put my comment back.
May 4th, 2007 at 8:03 pmDamn, that was quick! Thanks.
For the record the job offer doesn’t close until Sunday.
May 4th, 2007 at 8:08 pmGood job Clyde, as alway’s…Hope you get the job…Blessings
May 4th, 2007 at 8:47 pmI just want to know why there is this fear for people to take the last step against these idiots like Wolfowitz, Cheney and the ilk. Say that you think he should be fired instead of this half-ass “well we feel bad about what he did and we don’t think it was right…blah..blah..”

May 4th, 2007 at 9:20 pmHmmm, interesting. Approaching the number of scientists that believe conclusively in global warming, and BuschCo keeps flippin’ them off too.
May 4th, 2007 at 9:45 pmWolfowitz uses all his spittle to comb his hair, so feel sorry for his girlfriend going to bed with him. I bet he smells bad and does not brush his teeth either.
May 5th, 2007 at 12:27 amScrew the World Bank. It is a tool for neo-colonialism under the guise of “debt relief”. I hope they all turn on each other and eat Wolfy and his bitch in the process.
May 5th, 2007 at 2:08 amAnything less than termination would be a sell out.
May 5th, 2007 at 8:11 amAnything less than termination would be a sell out. Fire the arrogant bastard.
May 5th, 2007 at 8:13 amMuch like the Dixie Chicks are with President Bush, I’m ashamed to have gone to the same high school with Paul Wolfowitz.
May 5th, 2007 at 8:18 amAnd the rest of them?
