Fox is an extremely dangerous media to the world. Their interpretation of the AQ tape is that they WANT U.S. troops to keep dying in Iraq. AQ is targeting the message to our stupid president called Bush, it's not about Democrats. If Bush did not veto the Democrats bill, then the troops will be pulled out and AQ has no chance of killing them. Got it?

Did this site mention the fact that Al Qaeda wanted Kerry and Democrats >to win the elections? Of course not

Here's what John McLaughlin said immediately following a viewing of another bin Laden tape that was released just days before the 2004 presidential election: "Bin Laden certainly did a nice favor today for the President."

Furthermore, he mentions that this interpretation was the actual conclusion of an inter-agency meeting between top intelligence professionals from all over government.

"Today's conclusion: bin Laden's message was clearly designed to assist the President's reelection."

>Wow, in order to get 200,000 to 300,000 troops killed I guess we would >have to stay there another 400 to 500 years at this rate.

Besides, if the next 100 presidents were as stupid as this one, we WOULD be in IRaq for another 500 years. you know we're building permanent bases there, right assh@t?

No this site doesnt mention any of Rush Limbaugh's imaginary drug addled talking points. Quote please?

> You people are so funny. That’s why I come here.

you come here because yours is a meaningless hollow existence whose only defined by some enemy or opponent. things aren't going too well now for the folks you hump the flag for, so your congnitive dissonace is probably getting pretty painful. poor 20 percenters. the stupidest ones are the last to wake up...i suspect inbreds probably make up a good portion of the Dumbya "dead-enders"

I'm glad you guys posted this. This political posturing is a re-occurring theme with this president and administration. To note--despite the fact there have been dozens and dozens of tapes in which the administration and media pundits don't seem to be citing from much, what makes this increasingly catastrophic is the sense that there is only one way to frame these recent comments from Zawahiri.

As Michael Scheuer--former head of covert, counter terrorist organization devoted exclusively to hunting down and capturing key members of al-Qaeda, puts it "The Bush administration's occupation of Iraq was Osama bin Laden's wet dream".

The perception that the United States holds deeply prejudiced and arrogant notions that it's our responsibility to police the world, etc. certainly sounds great when it comes out of the mouth of Karen Hughes, or Condi Rice, or Tony Snow, etc. but there's a very significant and fundamental problem here.

Al-Qaeda’s main strategy--although hardly even considered by the mainstream U.S. media in attacking and intentionally provoking the United States by attacking us on our own soil, was absolutely no doubt whatsoever here, to get us involved in a series of military excursions and occupations in response. The purpose here--and it's been confirmed again and again--is the attempt to slowly bleed the U.S. economy and try to effect a nationalistic desire to keep as much of a country's oil resources tied to the actual people who stand above the oil. Even more troubling than all of this is the notion that the Euro might someday replace the dollar as the principle measure of all the world’s petroleum.

This is why the whole "defeatism, failure" that the GOP loves to say for the cameras is missing the main point, and actually serves al-Qaeda’s interests. Here--as in other such posts, Zawahari is intentionally provoking the Bush administration by making it sound as if his organization is winning is about to win. It's hogwash.

Just as the World Trade Center buildings that were attacked represented an economic connection to inherent strategies, so are these comments. They are only meant to provoke a cowboy--bring'em on type President who sees the world so melo-dramatically that one could really seriously believe that the President is positively committed and believes in his mission but cannot even consider that much of this is intentionally strategic.

There's clearly a symbiotic relationship between Bush and al-Qaeda and this further allows this terrorist organization to ensure future American military operations and occupation by provoking the President. Of course there’s the timing.

As Keith Olberman mused, the Iraqi Government has learned at least one valuable characteristic of the U.S. Government—that is to go on vacation in the summer time. Of recent concern happens to be an oil bill that will provide no less than 80% of Iraq’s oil to be given to outside corporations such as Halliburton, etc. To this end, Halliburton recently moved to re-locate their headquarters from Houston to Dubai, U.A.E. That is to say, extremely close to the oil facilities in southern Iraq and Iran. It’s absurdly treasonous if you really want to provide a framework which might actually come as close to this definition as so many members of the GOP recognize.

Let’s also look at these recent coverage of enormous success via cooperation with Saudi Arabia—the 15/19 origin of the 9-11 terrorists. Suddenly,--all within days of impending debate over the war in Iraq—these things occur.

And now here’s the most accurate definition which applies. Insanity is when one expects a different outcome to something by continuing to use precisely the same methods which have not worked in the first place.

"Meanwhile, we are not much safer than we were 9/10/01. That’s GW’s failure - he took us to Iraq and neglected all precautions and measures that would make us more secure."

Actually, we are a lot less safe. Look at what is happening in Kansas. This was the headline on the Think Fast section today:

“The rebuilding effort in tornado-ravaged Greensburg, KS, likely will be hampered because some much-needed equipment is in Iraq, said that state’s governor. Governor Kathleen Sebelius said much of the National Guard equipment usually positioned around the state to respond to emergencies is gone.”

If we can't provide help to a tornado ravaged section of the US, how can we think that we are prepared to fight a battle here on our shores?

Everything Bush and the Republics have done in the last 6 years has made us much less safe here at home. They have depleted our resources and they have made thousands and thousands of new enemies that were not there before we invaded Iraq.

Are you mad yet? It's time to fight back. Call your representatives and tell them what you think. And keep calling and writing until they hear you. I do this every day.

OMG!

Most Americans are saying the very same things Zawahiri is saying!

Could that mean most Americans are getting their talking points from the terrorists!? Are most Americans in bed with the terrorists?

Who would have thunk!?

<em>"Why did you cut the video off before Dodd’s reply? I’d like to know how he handled that ridiculous setup …</em>

Here is the next part of the interview. The rest you can read at Fox News' site."

DODD: Not at all here. Again, this is a civil war going on in Iraq. This is not the United States versus Al Qaida. It's Shia versus Sunnis tearing each other apart. It's gone on for centuries, but particularly here right now.

The United States is being asked to, in a sense, referee a civil war. And at $2 billion a week, $8 billion a month, Americans believe that we have done all we can possibly do, and Iraqis have to decide whether or not they want to end this civil war and the sectarian violence.

The idea that this is a winnable conflict by the United States -- every military leader from the very outset have said this is not a situation where there's a military victory for us here.

That was the conclusion of the Baker-Hamilton report, the conclusion of General Casey, General Dempsey. Every senior military official who's been involved, Chris, in Iraq has said from the very beginning there is not a military solution to Iraq here.

So the point has arrived, I think, for all of us that the status quo is unacceptable and that we should begin redeploying our troops.

"Explain how staying in Iraq assists in eliminating terror threats in any way, shape, or form."

Oh, oh! Prepare for incoming bullshit, directly from "Rove's Notes", the recently discovered troll textbook. See post #34 above for explanation of "Rove's Notes."

As I’ve stated before, terrorists don’t say “look what we did to them”, they say, “look what we made them do to themselves”.

Yeah, they may say that, but they are being fooled as well. They take way too much credit for themselves if they say that. BushCo did this "Iraq thingee" all by themselves. No real or rational reason, or provocation from them was/is necessary. We are simply chasing empire in "The Arc of Instability." The terrarists are really incidental and being used, as they will discover when we leave just like our troops when they come home. Their bosses want the war to continue just like Bush, and the terrarists are simply cannonfodder just like the occupation forces, only with foreign sounding names.
