Does anyone know why the President of the United States gets to appoint the head of the World Bank? Wouldn’t it make more sense for all the nations to choose a President? As long as Bush is allowed to appoint the head of the bank, he will continue to use the World Bank as an extension of the Republic party the way he has done with the rest of our government.

Which is quite different from Bush & Wolife who practice the ‘Puddle of Consciousness’ approach. And just like water, they always sink to the lowest level available.

I think he needs to practice what he preaches; abstinence. Abstain from attending your job, Wolfie. It will make everyone happy, and we won’t have to abort you.

Right you are about the “halfway competent cronies”. Every president appoints cronies, it’s thanks for the favors that got them there. But most Presidents appoint capable cronies.

They can’t. The U.S. (read; Chimpy, the King) has veto power over the appointment of WB President. No President of the WB will sit without the Chimp’s approval.

Actually, that’s not true. Historically, the US has been permitted to appoint the President of the World Bank as it is the largest shareholder, but it could be out voted.
