“Since he has been president, George W. Bush has traveled overseas from Afghanistan to Vietnam. Closer to home, Rhode Island and Vermont haven’t rated a presidential trip. The two deep blue Democratic enclaves, which both gave John Kerry 59% of the vote in 2004, are the only states Bush has not visited since becoming president.”
Rhode Island has the Navy’s postgraduate school at Newport.
Vermont? Well, they’ve got a border.
I’m sure the residents are happy that they were spared a visit from the “Commander Guy” but still – there’s absolutely no reason for the White House not to have visited.
May 7th, 2007 at 9:58 amHaving grown up in Vermont, I’m certain george was never invited there.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:04 amToo small. Can’t find ‘em on the map.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:04 amBush can’t find enough un-Americans in these states to sign his fascist loyalty oath.

May 7th, 2007 at 10:05 amWhere will he visit when his ratings slip into the single digits? Will he transport his Crawford dude ranch without any horses or cattle to Utah?
May 7th, 2007 at 10:06 amHe, Bushie is also pissed of our country. Since our actual President took the charge, 3 years ago, he hasn’t done a single visit (or phone call to congratulate) to him.
Probably, he misses our ousted EX President, he was a faithful puppy, specially thanks to the photo op of the summit of the Azores Islands, previous to the Iraq War:

Great way of doing diplomacy.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:12 am“I have been visiting the states in al-fa-bet-uh-cle order so I haven’t gotten to Ver-mont yet. I flew over Rhode Island and so that should count. Just like I flew over New Orleans even though that is a city and not a state like Rhode Island which is not really an island. Izzin it good that yur Prez-i-dent keeps you informed? ” – GWB
May 7th, 2007 at 10:12 amDoesn’t Vermont have articles of impeachment pending on our commander-decider? I would venture to guess that he may be taken into custody if he steps foot in VT!! ;)
May 7th, 2007 at 10:12 amActually, if W went to either of these states, he would not be able to fill a residentual coat closet with supporters.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:13 amBush doesn’t care about Americans who are not Republicans. Just that simple.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:13 amIdaho loves Chimpy so much, but he’s only been here once — thank goodness. He wooed away our governor, so that’s a plus.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:15 amWhere will he visit when his ratings slip into the single digits? Will he transport his Crawford dude ranch without any horses or cattle to Utah?

Rumor has it that he will in fact be moving to Utah after his Presidency is over (however that happens) and will be raising trolls. I understand that there is minimal labor involved as they only need to be fed small morsels every few days. The only difficulty is mixing up sufficient kool-aid, which they consume it unbelievable amounts.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:16 amI’m suprised that he went to New Hampshire.
“Liver Free or Die” Is not a motto our President could ever support.
At least not the first half.

Wonderful post. :^)
But don’t forget /abuse/. It’s like Miracle-Gro for trolls.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:19 amLiver Free … but you have to pay for the onions. (sorry, couldn’t resist)
May 7th, 2007 at 10:20 amI think WaltTheMan hit the nail on the head. Too much effort would be required to assemble friendly audiences in those states.
Although, now that I think about it, there ARE military bases in both places… Maybe he’s just been too damn busy. After all, prezidentin’ is hard work. You people don’t understand that.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:20 amZooey,
Maybe Idaho could make Dubya the Honorary Potato Guy for a day, I bet that would get him on out there again!!

If you don’t mind, mparker, I’ll keep my liver contained. I’m shy. :)
May 7th, 2007 at 10:32 amSo Bush has never visited the oldest enclave of participatory democracy in our country, sounds about right.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:36 amAnd we don’t want him here. He is not welcome. And we ain’t afraid to say so.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:41 amhttp://www.gasbuddy.com/gb_retail_price_chart.aspx?time=24
Go to this site pull up a year chart of gasoline prices over 6 years. Further near the bottom you may customize your chart. Check off oil prices as well. Note the price in 2001. 1.03 per gallon for gasoline. Oh those were the days. Now we need to get Bush out of the White House, as he has turned into Black oil.
How do you spell, B U S H LIES. The wars are directly related to higher commodity prices. Afghanistan War…….10/2001……Iraq War 3/20/2003.
Commodity prices are equal to energy, food, metals are all commodities. How is your grocery bill over the past 7 years?

May 7th, 2007 at 10:42 amBoy, if nothing else got GWB impeached this oughta do it. Never visited Vermont? Does he hate cheese or what?
I’m pretty sure that presidents visit states because the state is politically in contention or because they just had a natural disaster (and not even then, apparently). If I was a resident of Vermont, I would stick this up on the speed limit signs “President Bush never visits, he never calls” and then get on with my life.
Is this the product of the new hire search? Because maybe the new hire should be looking for the occasional bit of positive progressive news instead of dwelling on tiny bits of useless information like this. No offense and all.
Maybe have a rule that at least one really positive item gets posted every day?

Do you see the screaming I N F L A T I O N?
May 7th, 2007 at 10:49 amWars are a back end TAX in the commodity market to all consumers. All of these products will continue to SURGE until we get out of Iraq.
Funny, I remember when Republicans were carping about how Bill Clinton (hey, remember him?) hadn’t visited Nebraska.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:51 amSurprised? I believe John Bolton said it best on The Daily Show where, and I am paraphrasing, he indicated one should only serve the citizenry that voted for them.

Of the 25 largest US cities, the only one Bush has never visited is San Francisco. Definitely a pattern here.,
May 7th, 2007 at 11:16 amGood for them…
May 7th, 2007 at 11:17 amOne again we have a double standard.
Much was made of the fact that President Clinton didn’t visit Nebraska until the last year of his presidency. I know, we are still one year away from that timeline but this is an excellent example of the double standard that MSM applies to what it considers as news.
May 7th, 2007 at 11:20 amNot real surprising. He’s only interested in people who share his opinion. It’s the Presidential equivalent of talking to yourself in public.
May 7th, 2007 at 11:21 amWe don’t want him over here in Rhode Island either.
May 7th, 2007 at 11:22 amWhy should he go there? To be heckled?
He’s better off if he works with the people who actually voted for him.
May 7th, 2007 at 11:25 amYeah, he should only work with morons who voted for him. Too bad about half of those nitwits don’t support him anymore.
May 7th, 2007 at 11:31 amI know Bush has never visited San Francisco.
I have heard he is the first president in 70-some years to never visit San Francisco during his presidency. I can’t confirm this with a source, but perhaps someone could.
May 7th, 2007 at 11:33 amWhy should he go there? To be heckled?

Poor wussy Chimp can’t handle the hecklers. Waaaah!
A lot of the people who voted for him don’t like him either. How can he tell the difference? :P
May 7th, 2007 at 11:55 amThat’s because Bush hates America, and the constitution.
Bush likes:
1. Obstructing justice and,
2. Increasing his power.
May 7th, 2007 at 12:16 pmI suppose he can tell he was not welcome in those states.
May 7th, 2007 at 12:18 pmToo bad he could not tell he is no longer welcome in Iraq.
If only we could get rid of him from the other 48 states–permanently. The Hague strikes me as being the perfect domicile.
May 7th, 2007 at 12:18 pm“He’s better off if he works with the people who actually voted for him.”
I don’t know – me, I’d prefer intelligent people.
May 7th, 2007 at 12:40 pm#41 – Art,
May 7th, 2007 at 12:58 pmActually, he realizes that he is not welcome in Iraq. The last time he met the Iraqi Prime Minister, they met in Jordan. The Secret Service feared that AF 1 would be able to land in Baghdad but would not be able to fly out.
Considering how much money the RNC spent in Rhode Island without a Presidential visit trying to re-elect Chafee(R) in ‘06 to the Senate shows Bush is not welcome there.
May 7th, 2007 at 1:07 pmand they are lucky not to have had him.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:17 pmBush doesn’t visit the enemy.
May 7th, 2007 at 3:00 pmmaybe he doesn’t hate all of America. Just the blue states…
Impeach Hanoi Bush!
May 7th, 2007 at 3:02 pmAs a former Rho-Dielander, I can tell you that Dubya would not be a welcome visitor.
“not for nuttin’, Mistah Prez, but you’re screwin’ things up here, you know what I mean?”
May 7th, 2007 at 3:14 pmIf he can’t fly somewhere and PICK UP CASH (while billing the American taxpayer), he’s not interested in going.
May 7th, 2007 at 3:34 pmVermont and Rhode Island, how lucky can you get?
May 7th, 2007 at 3:38 pmAll of New England can’t even stand the sight of him.
May 7th, 2007 at 4:32 pmThe Cat
Well certainly he’d never be invited here to Vermont for any reason other then his trial. But aside from that I don’t think he’d ever dare come here anyway.
