This Sunday, Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) said, “By the time we get to September or October, members are going to want to know how well this is working, and if it isn’t, what’s Plan B?” Watch it:
The Washington Post reported in March, “During a White House meeting last week, a group of governors asked President Bush and Marine Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, about their backup plan for Iraq. What would the administration do if its new strategy didn’t work? The conclusion they took away, the governors later said, was that there is no Plan B. … Pace had a simple way of summarizing the administration’s position, Gov. Phil Bredesen (D-Tenn.) recalled. ‘Plan B was to make Plan A work.’” Satisfied with that answer, Rep. Boehner?
maybe boehner’s plan b is to sell more office supplies or something…
May 7th, 2007 at 2:18 pmPlan B is impeaching Bush to save the republican party.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:18 pmIs that like turning another corner? Or a Friedman Unit?
Boehner must have been thinking about his small package when Plan B came about.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:19 pmClassic.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:20 pmI dont think there needs to be a plan b everything is going just hunky Dory for the insurgents
May 7th, 2007 at 2:20 pmsomebody ought to go tell fred kagan who shot his mouth off as per usual in yesterday’s nyt…
And, yes, I DO take it personally
May 7th, 2007 at 2:24 pmIronic, since these are “D” list politicians.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:24 pmWhy is John Boehner a terrorist sympathizer. Doesn’t he know that the Commander Guy has it all under control? Don’t be a traitor Boehner!
May 7th, 2007 at 2:25 pmThere is no plan B. There never was a legitimate plan A, either.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:25 pmThey could try Plan 9 From Outer Space.
Aliens resurrect dead humans as zombies and vampires to stop human kind from creating the Solaranite (a sort of sun-driven bomb).
Makes as much sense as anything Bushco comes up with.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:27 pmThe problem is that Bush’s “Plan A” is actually to continue to pretend everything is going as expected, continue to spend money and lives without any goals attached, and get out of the White House in 20 months while claiming it’s not HIS fault we lost the war in Iraq . . . it was “winnable” when he left office.

Oh hell no, not without Mike and the “bots.”
May 7th, 2007 at 2:31 pmPlan B is to send in The “B”ush twins into mortal combat.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:31 pmNo matter when US forces leave Iraq, they are going to be leaving under very dangerous and hostile conditions. If the military hasn’t been working on that “Plan B” with every effort at their disposal, they are guilty of appalling dereliction of duty. Let’s hope that they are just being discrete.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:31 pmReminds me of the scene in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome:
(on board the train, having escaped Bartertown)
Max: “So, what’s the plan?”
May 7th, 2007 at 2:32 pmPig Killer: “Plan? there ain’t no plan!”
For four years, we heard so many “6-more-months” and we turned so many corners, we were dizzy; then we heard the surge needed “60 to 90 days” and now we are being told to give it a chance, and they need five months (if we consider when the surge started, it’s remarkably close to another 6 months).
Plan B is to drag this out into the next (democratic) president’s term and let them take the blame for it. Let Dems take the responsibility for a draft (now that the troops are so overextended, they can’t take any more). Let the Dems take responsibility when chaos reigns after we leave (like chaos doesn’t reign now, and hasn’t been part of the scene for the past 4 years). Let Dems take responsibility for the costs of the war leading to tax increases because we are near bankruptcy (Bush has not included the IRaq billions in the regular budget).
May 7th, 2007 at 2:34 pmThat’s the George Bush plan – everything he touches is ruined, and they call in someone else to clean it up, fix it, and pay for it.
Greetings, my friend. We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future. You are interested in the unknown… the mysterious. The unexplainable. That is why you are here.
And now, for the first time, we are bringing to you, the full story of what happened on that fateful day. We are bringing you all the evidence, based only on the secret testimony, of the miserable souls, who survived this terrifying ordeal. The incidents, the places.
My friend, we cannot keep this a secret any longer. Let us punish the guilty. Let us reward the innocent. My friend, can your heart stand the shocking facts of grave robbers from outer space?
May 7th, 2007 at 2:34 pmlegitimate plan A is OIL – but now the Iraqis have said the situation would be reversed when Iraqis regained their “true sovereignty”.

May 7th, 2007 at 2:34 pmHere is Plan B
Right in down town Baghdad
May 7th, 2007 at 2:35 pmBoehner’s right. Why do we need to know about any old Plan B before September or October? We can take our time with this, after all it’s only the lives of poor kids we’re talking about, right? What’s the rush?
May 7th, 2007 at 2:39 pmPlan A, B, and C was / is to suck every penny out of the U.S. Treasury, then borrow until bankrupt while funneling zillions to whoever they would like to at the moment.
Excuse me but, isn’t that commonly known as embezzling?
Impeach the lying ba*stards.
Dick Cheney in prison . . . very nice thought indeed.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:39 pmRoyston, or person posing as Royston,
May 7th, 2007 at 2:39 pmBarnes and Noble just called, you’re late for your book signing gig…..
John Boehner is saying another 3 months because the first benchmark for the oil is to be signed by May 31st , which wont happen and then the iraqi parliment are on holiday for 2 months ……… Then its going to be another 3 months then another then another then another
Then Oh well Bush leaves in 3 months lets stick it out
May 7th, 2007 at 2:40 pmOnce again, all by design. Let’s wait ’til October now, and then in October, we’ll wait ’til February, and so forth.
Once again, this horse manure is nothing but political cover. The GOP continues to circle jerk with Dumbya while attempting to hold the administration accountable for the “surge.”
And once again, the American public is taken for ignorant fools by the Republican Party. How can any thinking person still support these reckless thugs?
May 7th, 2007 at 2:49 pmBefore someone looks for ‘Plan B’, he gotta have first ‘ Plan A ‘
May 7th, 2007 at 2:50 pmWhat’s ‘Plan A’ ?!
#17, thanks for channeling Criswell. He is the only one _ridiculous_ enough to make sense of the current scene.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:51 pmGeeez, even I knew this one. Boner seems like he just woke up from a coma and is asking everyone, “Where am I? Who am I? What’s going on?”
May 7th, 2007 at 2:54 pmColonel Tom Edwards: This is the most fantastic story I’ve ever heard.
Jeff Trent: And every word of it’s true, too.
Colonel Tom Edwards: That’s the fantastic part of it.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:56 pmIf Plan A fails, we better have a Plan B. I suggest something along the lines of commandeering some really tall buildings and some handy helicopters somewhere close.
May 7th, 2007 at 2:59 pmThere has never been a Plan A – kind of hard to have a Plan B…
May 7th, 2007 at 3:00 pmOff topic:
Professor Bernard Quatermass: The will to survive is an odd phenomenon. Roney, if we found out our own world was doomed, say by climatic changes, what would we do about it?
Dr. Mathew Roney: Nothing, just go on squabbling like usual.
Professor Bernard Quatermass: Yes, but if we weren’t men?
May 7th, 2007 at 3:00 pmPlan B is to put together a study group to start thinking about formulating an alternate plan.
May 7th, 2007 at 3:03 pmPlan B is another False Flag Op to beef up the military even more.
May 7th, 2007 at 3:03 pmThe Republicans speak on Plan B in Iraq:
“By the time we get to September or October, members are going to want to know how well this is working, and if
it isn’t, what’s Plan B.”
House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH), May 6, 2007.
“I have no Plan B.”
John McCain, on his support for the Iraq surge, April 13, 2007.
“Plan B was to make Plan A work.”
Joint Chiefs Chairman General Peter Pace, on Iraq, March 5, 2007.
“I don’t think you go to Plan B. You work with Plan A.”
May 7th, 2007 at 3:04 pmSecretary of State Rice, asked what the U.S. should do if the Iraqi government does not live up to its assurances, March 5, 2007.
#31, ya got me! ;^)
May 7th, 2007 at 3:04 pm…ain’t that the truth…
May 7th, 2007 at 3:04 pmI thought plan B was the troop surge…
May 7th, 2007 at 3:05 pmI say we dump Plan B (RU 486) in the water supply. That should solve to problem after a few years.
May 7th, 2007 at 3:09 pmSounds like they’re getting a little worried. Well they should be. From the Republican’s perspective “Plan B was to make Plan A work.” Not a chance in hell thats going to happen.
May 7th, 2007 at 3:15 pmHere is my ” P L A N B” get the hell out of the BUSH Iraq Concentration Camp. Leave by boat, car, mopad, train, plane and or bike.
Remove all military personnel, they the commodities will finally stop SURGING. If the Democrats don’tSTOP this war just keeping adding more money to your weekly groceries bill and any energy bills.
CRB Commodity Chart from Chicago Merc. EX. = FOOD, ENERGY,METALS

Bush is going to BLEED everyone Financially DRY! Spread the word with charts. The LOWS match the War Dates to Afghanistan and Iraq WARS.
May 7th, 2007 at 3:24 pmPlan A is the known unknown strategy and policy where success can come from the Sunnis, the Shiites, the Kurds, the north, the south, or maybe east or west as long as freedom is on the march and we fight them over there as unknown known enemies so that the Iraqis stand up while we stand down. Plan B is change the words used in Plan A to sound like a new old strategy and policy that depends more on holding the Iraqis responsible for the failures while maintaining the known unknown strategy and policy where success can come from the Sunnis, the Shiites, the Kurds, the north, the south, or maybe east or west as long as freedom is on the march and we fight them over there as unknown known enemies so that the Iraqis stand up while we stand down. Hope that clears it up.
May 7th, 2007 at 3:26 pmwhy doesn’t anyone point out that “the Fall” does not, I repeat, does not necessarly mean September. By definition – the “Fall” means any time from September 21 through December 21!!
May 7th, 2007 at 3:27 pmSo folks- who wants to bet that there won’t be any “success or failure” report coming our way until the latest date possible!
Remember– we are all in school folks and the lesson right now is: Stall 101 and 102!!!!!!!!!!!
Plan B is to keep buying time until Jan 2009 and then blame the new democratic president for losing the war.
May 7th, 2007 at 3:27 pmI find it very hard to believe that all of a sudden accountability and paying attention to the administration of the EXIT part of the war has to be more articulate than the beginning, and subsequent past chapters. Does Rep. Boehner think that just because the American people are now getting angry that they haven’t been paying attention?
May 7th, 2007 at 3:30 pmwe all know Republicants object to “Plan B”
May 7th, 2007 at 3:37 pmPlankton made it all the way to Plan Z before he finally was able to destroy Bikini Bottom….
Let’s hope that Boehner and his ilk are a little bit smarter than a one-celled phytoplankton… but that may be too much to wish for.
May 7th, 2007 at 3:37 pmThat’s the George Bush plan – everything he touches is ruined, and they call in someone else to clean it up, fix it, and pay for it.

I guess you could call it “The Dumbass Touch”?
Where’s King Midas when we need him?
May 7th, 2007 at 4:08 pmPlan ‘B’? I think we are somewhere in the midst of plans ‘F-U’. Evaluation in the fall will only produce plan ‘V’ for victory. An emergency funding bill and a draft of plan ‘W’. Plan ‘W’ is an emergency funding bill and a back to the basics of plan ‘A’ plan and a planed emergency funding bill that was planned.
May 7th, 2007 at 4:09 pmIf we stay this course and continue to do this over and over again we can prove the sanity of this policy and eventually get a different result.
Bush’s Plan B will be to continue more of the same: committing money our country doesn’t have, borrowing it from China, who sits on the sideline smiling at the debt we incurr with them, bleeding us slowly until ??????
Osama’s plan was for us to do JUST WHAT WE ARE DOING NOW: getting us bogged down in an unpopular middle east war pitting us against Islam, and BLEEDING us dry economically until we are toast. That’s Osama’s statement he has made publicly, and Bush fell for it.
A 28% approval rating (that’s 72% DISAPPROVAL) shows that the American people want this war to end NOW.
May 7th, 2007 at 4:20 pmPlan B – Blame the Clinton administration.
May 7th, 2007 at 4:24 pmI guess you could call it “The Dumbass Touch
Where’s King Midas when we need him?
-Proud Dem
I prefer the ‘Fecal Factor’. Everything he touches turns to shit.
May 7th, 2007 at 4:44 pmWhile I think that there should be a cut in funding and a timeline, I also think that it would be foolish to pull out of Iraq without thinking about the repercussions and alternatives for this war. I think that for Iraq to escape chaos insitutions and funding need to be in place to address and prevent further poverty. We got into this mess without any foresight, we need to exit with a plan.
If the original principle of why we are fighting this war is as important as Bush claims, the $340 billion already spent and the further $100+ billion to be spent should be redirected toward plans to fight poverty and develop the country to prevent another Afghanistan. According to the Borgen Project, just $19 billion annually can end starvation and $15 billion provides water and sanitation all over the world. If ending terror is the goal, the Millennium Development Goals to end poverty is the way to to go for our leaders.
May 7th, 2007 at 6:00 pmPlan B would be a great name for a rock band.
May 7th, 2007 at 7:24 pmFirst we had “Friedman Units.” Now we have….

Quite possibly. It worked for Lyndon Johnson.
