35,000 soldiers told to prep for Iraq.

35,000 soldiers told to prep for Iraq.»

“The Pentagon has notified more than 35,000 soldiers and Marines to be prepared to deploy to Iraq beginning this fall, a move that would allow commanders to maintain the ongoing buildup of troops through the end of the year if needed. Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said Tuesday the deployment orders, which have been signed by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, do not mean that the military has made a decision to keep the increased level of 20 brigades in Iraq through December.”

    Mission Accomplished, eh Bushy?

I feel very sorry for all the families that are sending their children into the midst of the civil war in Iraq.

    ITMFAs now!!!

Bush does not care how many more soldiers might die for his control of Iraq’s OIL reserves. Shame on Bush and he must resign in disgrace.

Why are you calling American soldiers Islamo Fascists?

  8. stopthecons Says:

the war and the killing continue to escalate. the never-ending story.

the only way we can turn this all around is to completely change course - not only in iraq, but in this country’s entire foreign policy…..

We need a new path - one where we no longer spend billions to prop up evil dictators, only to invade their nations later on, and kill millions. we need a new path where we no longer base our military in 130+ countries, where we no longer arm both sides of conflicts, overthrow government, meddle in elections and the like…

Only then will we have peace and prosperity in this country.

    A good read on this:

I know you hope Americans die that is the left’s only hope for power. But it certainly means more dead Islamo Fascists.

Namtillaku, please don’t feed the trolls. It’s not worth it.

  11. Raven Says:

Interesting how the “troop surge” was around 22,500 barely a month ago…

  12. david Says:

Congress should bring back the Draft. It’s the only way to put this issue front & center in the Republican heartland.

  13. BlueArkansas Says:

What does this bring the “surge” to now? Let’s see….21,500, then an additional 28,000, now 35,000…wow! Almost 90,000 more troops, meaning—wait for it—Dumbya LIED YET AGAIN!

If I don’t laugh, I’ll cry. The blood of these soldiers and of the hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilian casualties is on Shrub and Darth Cheney’s hands. This country may never recover from the bloodthirsty ignominy of this administration.

    Dangerously naive.

  15. david Says:

Patrick1trickpony IS an Islamofascist. He’s doing Osama bin Laden’s bidding by urging the President to go deeper into the heart of darkness, to commit more troops and resources to a futile mission, to squander all of America’s wealth for a few acres of sand. 1trickpony knows his master is right and Bush will only inherit the wind.

  16. Joe Says:

Does this mean my dad will be called from retirement?

  17. Spudge_Boy Says:

Now where are those fu*king trolls who said I hated America because I said on January 10th that there would be a whole lot more than 21,000 troops sent for Bush’s escalation.

Looks like just one more thing we were right about and one more thing they were wrong about.

Regarding reinstatement of the draft, david, somehow I had the idea you are not a US citizen, am I mistaken?

  19. paland Says:

Because Patrick1 does NOT support our troops!

  20. KansasLiberal Says:

My daughter graduates from Army boot camp on June 1st. As much as I opposed her serving under this embicile I could not change her mind. I just hope and pray she isn’t one of these 35k getting sent into this meat grinder. I agree with some of the posters on this site. It is time to march on Washington. Count me in!

  21. Republicans are the Fear and Smear Party Says:

Bush is proud that he hasn’t reinstituted the draft while he ignores the fact that he’s wearing out the troops that we have. And once the troops come back with physical and mental problems Bush and the republicans will abandon them.

  22. david Says:

You are right, Raven. I’m Canadian. And I’m happy to know many expat Americans up here who simply don’t want their kids registered for the draft. But you won’t find Americans taking this war seriously unless everyone faces the risk of getting drafted, sent, and shot at. And I think deferments –like the 5 Cheney got– should be disallowed.

  23. Patrick1 Says:

Zawahiri agrees with Harry Reid not President Bush. The more American troops the more of his fascist robots die.

And that is a good thing.

  24. Joe Says:

I have to admit that Bush shouldn’t be complaining about “handcuffing generals.” He has routinely denied certain commander’s requests to finish and take on more streamlined operations in Iraq. The “Commander-in-Chief” title, depending on who holds it, is actually doing the handcuffing.

Bush has turned this war into nothing but talk, while Al-Qaeda gets stonger and stronger.

  25. david Says:

Actually, Patrick1trickpony, Zawahiri said he agreed with Bush. He wants the Americans to push deeper into the quagmire. That was al-Qaeda’s successful strategy against the Soviets in Afghanistan. And it’s working now against the US. I’m sure Zawahiri was chuckling when he read that most of Kansas’ emergency equipment was in Iraq and so they have inadequate relief after the recent disaster. Why are you, 1trickpony, doing al-Qaeda’s bidding?

    http://www.americablog.com/ 2007/ 05/ al-qaeda-2-zawahiri-endorses-bush-plan.html

The number two guy in Al Qaeda, Ayman al Zawahiri, says he doesn’t like the Democrats’ bill to get us out of Iraq. Why? Because he wants the US to remain in a quagmire where our troops are killed and killed and killed, i.e., he likes the Republican plan for Iraq.

    From ABC News:

In a new video posted today on the Internet, al Qaeda’s number two man, Ayman al Zawahiri, mocks the bill passed by Congress setting a timetable for the pullout of U.S. troops in Iraq.

“This bill will deprive us of the opportunity to destroy the American forces which we have caught in a historic trap,” Zawahiri says in answer to a question posed to him an interviewer.

Continuing in the same tone, Zawahiri says, “We ask Allah that they only get out of it after losing 200,000 to 300,000 killed, in order that we give the spillers of blood in Washington and Europe an unforgettable lesson.”

Yes, Al Qaeda just endorsed George Bush’s plan for Iraq. Funny how George Bush and the Republicans now sound exactly like Al Qaeda.

Patrick1 is plotting with Zawahiri to keep our troops in harms way. Patrick1 is a traitor to this nation and should be put in front of a firing squad for treason in a time of war.

Spin all day long traitor, but it doesn’t change the fact that Zawahiri wants US troops to stay in Iraq, so he can kill 200-300,000 of them.

    Republicans want us in Iraq

al Qaeda wants us in Iraq

al Qaeda attacked us on 9/11

Republicans allowed al Qaeda to attack us on 9/11

    Republicans = al Qaeda

Republicans are traitors that are trying to get Americans killed in Iraq.

If Patrick1 had an ounce of inteelect, he would stop posting information about al Qaeda and the republican party working together to kill our soldiers.

    TRAITORS

Yeah, wasn’t Zawahiri supposed to be dead? Just another example of the White House ‘misunderestimating’ the enemy.

I am sorry for your loss.

I wish I had the power to make it end. I wish something would get through to these people, but nothing seems to work and they seem hell bent on leaving this mess to the next administration. That is criminal.

  44. starwheel Says:

Rep. Boehner is giving the surge until September to work but the Pentagon is preparing 35,000 troops to go sometime in the fall.

    And so it goes.
