Don’t ask, don’t tell, then re-enlist.

“Petty Officer 2nd Class Jason Knight says the U.S. Navy knew he was gay, discharged him after he admitted his sexuality, and then re-called him last year to serve in the Middle East.”

UPDATE: Carpetbagger has much more HERE.

It’s pretty ironic that Gays are tossed out of the Militairy because of the threat posed to them by homophobes so twisted by their own gayness they can’t stand seeing themselves.

A gay soldier dying in Irak is a true patriot. But he must DIE there (die in vain of course) so he does not come back and receives honors as a gay hero.Heroes can’t be gay.(Republican propaganda manual).

Hey, Daryll, Is polygamy one of the biblical values you’ve chosen to ingore?

You know, like a bunch of other Biblical verses that the “c”hristain people conveniently skip over as they use the bible to justify their prejudices?

It’s interesting that the US s one of two NATO countries that don’t allow gays to openly serve in the miliatary.

I’m not sure why this thread uses “re-enlist”. The man was reCALLED to duty. He didn’t “re-enlist” following his discharge.
He only enlisted ONCE. He was serving, then he was discharged, and was recalled by the Navy which ordered him to repay his initial enlistment bonus and was apparently still withholding that money from his paycheck after he was recalled. (Properly, the thread should be titled “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, But Expect to Be Recalled Anyway.”)
Personally, I hope the guy takes the Navy to court over the money and the Navy is not only forced to repay him the enlistment bonus that he’s had to repay (and has had withheld), but also orders FULL BACK PAY for every month between his discharge and recall to duty.
