President Bush has repeatedly argued that the United States needs to “eliminate terrorist threats abroad, so we do not have to face them here at home.”
Last night on Hannity and Colmes, right-wing pundit Dick Morris also claimed that we need to keep U.S. troops in Iraq so that terrorists don’t come to the United States. But he argued that we need to put “Americans right within their [terrorists’] arms’ reach” so that they have the opportunity to “kill Americans” there. He added that therefore, “they don’t have to come to Wall Street to kill Americans. They don’t have to knock down the Trade Center. They can do it around the corner, and convenience is a big factor when you’re a terrorist.” Watch it:
Withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq doesn’t mean that violence will follow them to the United States. As former White House counterterrorism director Richard Clarke notes:
Of course, nothing about our being “over there” in any way prevents terrorists from coming here. Quite the opposite, the evidence is overwhelming that our presence provides motivation for people throughout the Arab world to become anti-American terrorists.
A recent survey of military and diplomatic experts also concluded that “likelihood that enemy combatants from Iraq might follow departing U.S. forces back to the United States is remote at best.” But as the Army recently warned, the longer we stay in Iraq, the more casualties will rise.
Transcript:
MORRIS: I think that withdrawal from Iraq — it obviously gives al Qaeda a huge victory. Huge victory. On the other hand, if we stay in Iraq, it gives them the opportunity to kill more Americans, which they really like.
One of the things, though, that I think the antiwar crowd has not considered is that, if we’re putting the Americans right within their arms’ reach, they don’t have to come to Wall Street to kill Americans. They don’t have to knock down the trade center. They can do it around the corner, and convenience is a big factor when you’re a terrorist.
Morris is, and always has been, a disgusting pig on so many levels.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:42 amThis right wing pundit worked for Clinton.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:42 amSo we’re not sending our soldiers to fight. We’re using them as human sacrifices so the terrorists can kill them there and not bother coming here?
Oh wait, there was a terrorist plot foiled here this morning. But that was only against soldiers too so it doesn’t matter either.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:44 amWhat a freekin’ toe-sucking jackass. We shoild stake his ass out in the middle of the Falujah town square, and let the Iraquis divert their attention to him for the afternoon. It’ll keep us safe (until there’s nothing left of his pathetic carcass)..
May 8th, 2007 at 11:44 amSo supporting the troops includes using them as bait?
May 8th, 2007 at 11:45 amOn the other hand, if we stay in Iraq, it gives them the opportunity to kill more Americans, which they really like.

Well Morris, in a round about way, just admitted that an American soldier is not worth as much as a Wall Street broker.

May 8th, 2007 at 11:47 amit’s war without end. the same thing that tyrants have been doing for centuries and centuries…using people as cannon fodder. that’s just what we see happening today…
all the while - the politicians gain more and more power abroad and here at home.
it’s people like this morris character that are showing a real hatred for the ideals that America is supposed to stand for - freedom, peace, and prosperity….
they love war and the government more than these….and must be resisted at every turn.

Our soldiers are in Iraq for the convienence of their killers?
Has anyone told them?
May 8th, 2007 at 11:49 amFight them there so we don’t have to hear” is fear mongering.
For the life of me I don’t know why we’re in Iraq.
I don’t know why they gave up looking for Osama and Zawahiri.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:50 amWhat gives toe sucker the idea he understands Al Qiada? He is willing to have our soldiers be targets so we can shop and keep the stock broker happy.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:50 amHey Patrick1, did’ja hear? Morris worked for Clinton! Don’t that beat all? Damn good point. A logical argument like this will certainly put the libs in their place. You are tha man.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:51 amKarl Rove,
PLEASE send some better trolls here to argue against deez libruls. Patrick is getting his butt kicked royally. He can’t argue for sh*t!!!
May 8th, 2007 at 11:51 amconvenience is a big factor when you’re a terrorist.
-Dick ‘the flopper’ Morris
As well as a repuke. Convenience means I don’t have to serve in this war. It means I can talk about protecting Wall St., as long as we have young people fighting our dirty little war so Wall St. can profit at levels the young can’t imagine.
It means I don’t have to sacrifice, but can still lie & make all the money I can.
It means that I change Parties the way I change my mind.
It means that I am actually in bed with Bin Laden, supporting the war while I leave the soldiers in a death trap.
It means I don’t have the slightest clue about what my mouth is spewing, nor does the idiot ‘interviewing’ me, either.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:51 amYeah…Clinton also fired him too…Don’t ever wonder why this insignificant pedophile spends 24/7/365 trying to destroy anything Clintonian…His vendetta is so very obvious that it even makes him less credible..if that’s possible..
May 8th, 2007 at 11:52 am1 Please………it is time to recognize Patrick1 for the wacko he/she/it is. Please people.
2. There is one piece of good news in this story and similar ones coming out more and more every day. The wingNUTS are being forced to reveal who they really are as they back into a corner. And they are not pretty……….heartless, ignorant, arrogant, greedy and COWARDLY bastards.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:53 amOh. My. F*cking. God.
That’s the most despicable thing I’ve ever heard!
Thank you, Dick Morris, for spewing your filth on Fox. Maybe the 28%ers will get a f*cking clue as to the right’s regard for the troops.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:54 amI think toe-sucker would make some hefty terrorist bait. Let’s send him over there.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:56 amClinton did it, too. So did Pelosi.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:56 amPatrick: This right wing pundit worked for Clinton. - - Right, Patrick. The Right got Morris, we got Arianna. We win.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:56 amAmazing that he would let his guard down and reveal the pus-filled core of the Repugs like that. How is that going to be seen by the soldiers in Iraq and their parents. Better your ass or your kid’s ass then me and my rich buddies?
Sick fu*king bastards, all of them.
And please folks, don’t respond to the idiot trolls, their only purpose is to throw shit and get a response. Since you know that’s why they are here, why feed the whores?
May 8th, 2007 at 11:56 amSo–we will continue to send Americans over there so the terrorists don’t have to travel so far to kill them–wouldn’t want to inconvenience the terrorists, now, would we. So, tell me–isn’t that–sort of–”appeasing” the terrorists?
May 8th, 2007 at 11:57 amIf any of the 28%ers have kids in Iraq… I wonder what they’d think of this statement? How is it, in any way, defensible if you have even a miniscule conscience?
May 8th, 2007 at 11:57 amThis is just one of the ways republicans support the troops.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:58 amMorris’s brain is rotting…I think he got too many corn-holings from Jeff Gannon.
Little Dickie is an insignificant syncophant. His pronouncements are nearly as meaningless and vapid as Little Billy Krystol’s.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:58 amI suppose that the last thing we want to do is make it difficult for the terrorists to kill Americans.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:58 amI wonder if he’s volunteering? Yeah, let’s give them some targets: the whole justice department, all the current supporters of the war, Chimpy, Grumpy, Julie Annie, not Condi (she’s cute as a button), FEMA, Jack Abramoff and his pals, and the former Enron executives.
Great idea Morris - I salute you!
May 8th, 2007 at 11:59 amhacker bob,

May 8th, 2007 at 12:00 pmIf a Democrat had said that republicans would have gone into their mantra of “Democrats hate our troops!” but because a republican said it then it’s because republicans support our troops.

May 8th, 2007 at 12:03 pmUnfortunately, this is a win-win for Fox. They get to have someone spout the kind of sickening crap that their viewership - Bush’s 28%ers - love. And for any of those few that can read, it smears Clinton with it too.
Fox should be treated like campaign spending with all advertizing revenue counted by it advertizers as campaign contributions. It is pure propaganda 24/7. It would not survive under a fairness doctrine rubric.
May 8th, 2007 at 12:03 pmIs this our new neocon slogan “Opportunity and convenience for the terrorists”? Yeah, let’s go with that one.

Exactly.
May 8th, 2007 at 12:04 pmThis administration (you know - the one populated by “professional managers from the business sector”), has decided that the current personnel losses in Iraq are an acceptable cost of doing business. They’re making good profit, and don’t intend to stop until the clock runs out and/or they are imprisoned for both high crimes and misdemeanors.
Can’t they smell the outrage?
May 8th, 2007 at 12:04 pmBy the way, I’m taking bets now on where Morris will fall on Oberman’s worst person in the world list; Win, Place, or Show?
I’m going to go with Win!
May 8th, 2007 at 12:04 pmSo, when we run out of soldiers to send over for terrorists to kill, who do we send next?
And then after that?
May 8th, 2007 at 12:04 pmif anything, our being over there makes it easier for them to come here… there’s no one here to do the job… witness the problems with recovery after the Kansas tornados…

May 8th, 2007 at 12:15 pmIt figures that this lower than low life would get air time at Hannity and Colmes. I have no respect left for Colmes. He obviously considers getting his mug on TV more important than standing up to Hannity and his guests and telling them at every turn that they are scum. That Morris would see some asskisser from Wall Street as more important than an American in uniform is not surprising. These Rethuglicans from Bush on down are a totally disgusting lot. Everyone of them deserves to have his citizenship in this country revoked and be exiled to a deserted atoll in the Pacific with no supplies whatever.

As he says, he realized what sleeze balls the Clintons are and he ran away from them as fast as he could. It took him quite a few years, but at the end, he saw the light.

May 8th, 2007 at 12:49 pmfor PatrickSmall1, Valiant the Hater and other “Clinton did it” trolls:
Dick Morris worked for Bill Clinton. He managed Clinton’s reelection campaign in 1996 — until, this is, he was fired two months prior to the election.
That’s one big difference between Clinton and the Chimperor: Big Dog fired people who didn’t measure up. Chimpy promotes them.
Since getting canned, Morris has made it his life’s work to smear the Clintons. Hence his permanent recurring role as a “Democrat” strategist on Faux News.

Disagree. Of course, if I agreed, maybe we should send preschoolers - real preschoolers - to Iraq, they’re even easier to kill than armed soldiers. And wouldn’t it be easier to kill them if there were only 1000 or so, with no backup and no supply lines? Or, how about superglueing their feet to the ground, so they can’t move. That’s convenient!
Dick Morris continues to absolutely poison the well of human thought. He and Karl Rove deserve to be marooned on a desert isle together.

Until you answer the question directly: “What do you think of Morris’s statements?”, you will remain the ridiculous ass wipe you appear to be. Do you agree that members of the military should be sitting ducks to “protect” wall street types and doughy fat-asses like yourself?
Also, while you deign to speak for all liberals, you don’t know squat. Many people were disgusted and disppointed that Clinton hired Morris and were glad to see him go. Morris is your pig, so either defend what he said or remain an ass wipe.
BTW, it appears all Republican haters like yourself are spelling challenged. Why is that? It’s not “breath”, it’s “breathe” (giving your lame attempt at humor even less of a chance to be funny). And it’s not “likelyhood” it’s “likelihood”, which was spelled correctly in your own post. Did you read it by any chance?
You group of morons are down to 28% and dropping. The majority of Americans don’t think much of you bozos any more. So, either answer the question or shut up.

Hey! I have had this amazing brainwave whereby the terrorists could actually decide to check in to the US or the UK or Europe or Egypt or wherever *while the Iraq war was still ongoing* instead of waiting until the troops pull out. That would so totally own. Am I a genius or what? Call me Rommel!

As I wrote last night in my post about this segment, even more galling than Morris’ comment is the fact that FOX News would have had him discussing this in the first place. Instead of having a real expert discuss a development with one of our enemies, FOX News chose a political analyst with no expertise in terrorism, military strategy or national security. That’s proof positive that FOX News was interested only in making political hay out of a terror threat.

Nice catch! You are the king of gotcha.
No matter what the name, trolls should get three strikes on each thread and then they should be ignored by everyone. One strike for any of the following: substantiated lie, not answering a direct question, distorting the position of another poster, or an off-topic comment. That way, they still have an opportunity to discuss an issue and we can still have some fun troll wacking when they get a “strike”.
May 8th, 2007 at 1:33 pmSo right toasterhead. The war on terror is so vague and has no benchmarks. It’s an endless campaign of fear. Crying wolf for years and years and years has had the unintended consequence of making us numb to the common fear tactic so it has to be ratcheted up.
Valiant ignores the fact I don’t defend Clinton but then that doesn’t fit into it’s little ideas of what it has to hate.
May 8th, 2007 at 1:35 pmvaliant the hater:
you still haven’t answered the question: do you stick by your claim that Carville and Begala joined Clinton AFTER Dick Morris was fired?
May 8th, 2007 at 1:35 pmoh wait, stuff like this has been said by Kerry, Durbin, Edwards, Moore, Al Franken, and a bunch of other left wing fools.
where is your outrage?
Comment by valiantthehater — May 8, 2007 @ 12:46 pm
Where are those links?
May 8th, 2007 at 1:37 pmso now you believe that humans have a monetary value? no wonder you are a liberal. You would fit well with the Democratic Party that fought the Republican Party during the Civil War.
Republicans jokingly refer to soldiers as “fodder units,” so they definitely think humans have political value - as props, and as stand-ins for you, the brave 101st Fighting Keyboardists.
May 8th, 2007 at 1:37 pmSheesh! Not only are troops “props” to these vile Repubs, but now they are to be sacrificial lambs, volunteering to get blown up to keep scum like Morris safe over here.
May 8th, 2007 at 1:38 pmand for those that want to actually read what our name changing troll posted, it very similar to what it posts now.
blah blah blah liberal blah blah blah retard blah blah blah idiots blah blah blah dropped you on your head blah blah blah

Notice how “it” never debates, just name calls. And the more it has been debunked, the nastier it gets.
May 8th, 2007 at 1:38 pm(Yawn)
Typical
typical of a liberal to put monetary value on a human being. how truly sad for you
Comment by valiantthehater — May 8, 2007 @ 1:29 pm
All of a sudden you’re a human being. All this time you’ve been oinking and grunting and rolling in your own feces just like swine. Now that I’ve pointed out how worthless you are your crying about how your a human being.
Here’s an idea, maybe if you tried acting human you would be treated as such, piglet.
May 8th, 2007 at 1:39 pmDRxJ, it also refuses to post links.
May 8th, 2007 at 1:40 pmPLC,
May 8th, 2007 at 1:41 pmI agree! this thread has been derailed long enough.
A portion of the attacks on US forces in Iraq are certainly perpetrated by Al Qaeda affiliates and their ilk who are in Iraq to train terrorists for future operations, likely against America.
It is possible that some who train there will participate on future attacks against Americans. This is the same situation that brought Al Qaeda to the point where they could arrange the 9/11 attacks. They trained by fighting Soviets in Afghanistan.
There is no iron-clad guarantee that some of these Iraq-trained terrorists will not “follow us home,” as stupid as that expression sounds. However, doesn’t it make sense for us to pull out of Iraq and terminate our inadvertent terrorist-training program? It’s too late to ‘un-train’ the terrorists who’s skills we have been diligently honing, but let’s stop now.
May 8th, 2007 at 1:42 pm“…you guys can treat anyone who disagrees with you with contempt and hate, but don’t like it if you are treated the same way you treat Conservatives?…”
It’s not anyone who disagees with us - it’s those, like you, who endanger us all. And you can call yourself a “conservative’ all you want. We know a facist when we see one.
You twisted little prick.
May 8th, 2007 at 1:43 pmFor some reason, my last comment did not seem to go through so I apologize if this winds up as a double post.
As I wrote in my post last night on this segment, the fact that FOX chose a political analyst like Morris, with no expertise in foreign policy, military strategy or national security, to discuss a development regarding an enemy with whom we are at war is proof positive that FOX News was looking to make political hay out of terrorism.
And did y’all catch how he made the ridiculous but predictable conclusion that Royal’s loss in France meant bad news for Hillary?

There once was a troll named valiant
who hope one day to be gallant
When her name was still venus
she thought with a penus
One day she’d get laid and
it would kick in her brain
And her mouth could quit spewing
the venomous drooling
That made her appear quite insane
May 8th, 2007 at 1:46 pmDuring his “toe sucking” episodes, he must have forgotten that the “we’re fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them here” petered out with Viet Nam! It just didn’t happen as those old enough to know the history will confirm. Dick “Judas” Morris’ credibility is lower than the decider’s. He would do well just to keep off the talk shows. But, then again, what would we have to laugh at if he did?

It also makes sense to have our troops and reserves here to protect us.
May 8th, 2007 at 1:55 pmTheHater,
you have made several claims and still have to substantiate any of them. For example, you said:
was Dick Morris all these evil names you guys are now calling him when Clinton had him as the Karl Rove of his administration?
Comment by valiantthehater — May 8, 2007 @ 12:41 pm
Please provide links to back up the assertion that Morris was indeed an Rove-type advisor, serving in the Clinton administration.
When it was shown to you that your previous statement was false, with a link to the Wikipedia, you wrote:
wikipedia….only retards use this site as a valid source for anything.
