The officer corp I understand a bit, but the enlisted?...not so much. I entered in '72, retired in 94. The only Presidents that helped my, and my families, lifestyle were: Carter and Clinton. I haven't researched the numbers, but I accept the fact that the Repub presidents had higher Defense budgets.....The problem is they were for "toys". The only significant pay raises I received, the only upgrades in housing and other benefits (GI bill, COLA's, etc) were from Carter and Clinton.
