Why do any of you think the Iraq people are any different in wanting their independence and wanting the "occupation" to end. They do not want an installed American puppet government, they do not want America to have control of their resources. Iraq’s largest oil workers’ trade union will strike tomorrow, in protest at the controversial oil law currently being considered by the Iraqi parliament. The move threatens to stop all oil exports from Iraq.

The oil law proposes giving multinational companies the primary role in developing Iraq’s huge untapped oilfields, under contracts lasting up to 30 years. The US agreed to the Millennium goals in 2000, promising to work to cut severe poverty in half by 2015. I haven't heard Bush mention that agreement in a while.
