House rejects nine-month Iraq withdrawal.

The House of Representatives “defeated legislation Thursday to require the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq within nine months, then pivoted to a fresh challenge of President Bush’s handling of the unpopular war. The vote on the nine-month withdrawal measure was 255-171.” The full roll call is HERE.

UPDATE: Matt Stoller has more.

  3. Chris L says:

I’m glad they at least allowed a vote on the issue, hence forcing people to take a stand one way or another. We all knew it wouldn’t pass, but it is nice to see 171 votes for it.

I’m very proud of my Rep. Lacy Clay of MO for voting for this. He has been against this atrocity of a war since the beginning.

The Iraqi government has already voted. They want America to end the occupation. WE said when they have a constituded gov. we would leave. They have one and they even have had votes. What the hell is going on with BushKhan. Oh,I forgot, Enron flying John Baker to Florida to help make sure the Bush “count” was done “fairly”. Baker, Sadaam and Oil, ohhh so connected. He pleases his base , And the world and America gets f*cked.

  9. leftcoast says:

Bush is the worse and dumbest god damn president in American history and I challenge any dipsdhit neo-educated ass on this one.

  11. Wayne says:

Alot of lap-dog democrats failed to pass this. Same ones that rolled over on queue for the last 6 years when Bush ordered.

We need names of the Dems that voted against this. A replacement list for the next election.

Do I have this straight? Democrats voted to give a stupid man complete control over an invasion of a country that was not a threat to this country and could never ever have been a threat to this country, claimed they were “duped” and now members of congress have voted to let him do what he wants–still? How “duped” can the6b claim to be?

What the hell is going on? Did we not vote to give Democrats a chance to rid us of this slaughter house in Iraq. Err–seems they are not getting that message and one must ask—how come?

I am beginning to have my suspicions. I am scrutinizing the presidential “forerunners” who insist we escalate the military. What for? I wonder. To occupy other countries perhaps? This is sick.

  16. WMD says:

An immediate withdrawel would be a mistake.
Isreales immediate withdrawel was extrememly problamtic.

A slow phased withdrawel and putting the house in somesort of order would be the least worest option.

  17. JPark says:

Yeah WMD, the Israeli immediate withdrawal was a huge disaster. What are you talking about?

  18. Peter says:

171 is not such a bad showing. Now we need to continue pressuring those 255 who voted against us and supporting the 171 from the smears of the right. Write your representative today expressing your appreciation/displeasure one way or the other. We only have a democracy if we act like we do.
