Would Glenn Beck vote for a Jew?

By Nico on May 11th, 2007 at 7:00 am

Would Glenn Beck vote for a Jew?»

“On the May 10 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, CNN host Glenn Beck said that he ‘wouldn’t vote for [Sen.] Joe Lieberman [I-CT] as president…because of the way the Middle East would use it,’ but also asserted, ‘That’s not saying the same thing as I wouldn’t vote for a Jew for president.‘”

  1. Jaded Prole Says:

That Glenn Beck and others in the media uses coded language regarding their mistrust of jews isn’t suprising, anti-Semitism is a real issue in the US and raises its ugly head even among leftists. I don’t refer to valid and necessary criticism of Zionism and Israel. I detest Zionism and say so regularly but I also hear the old conspiracy theories about Jewish cabals. . . when the real power is the corporate ruling class, most of whom are protestant males.

  2. Perry Logan Says:

Of all the reasons not to vote for Libermann…!

  3. Ben Dover Says:

I can think of 16,000 reasons not to vote for Loserman..His ethnicity / religion would be the last reason to not vote for him

I read somewhere that Glenn Beck is ranked LAST in all demographics for his time slot. LAST!! I wonder how that could be?

  4. the fly-man Says:

Glenn Beck is just using Richard Cheney’s favorite tactic. Suggest something you really believe then dance around it and admit that was just part of another conversation. I think we needs to ignore Mr. Beck so CNN can’t evaluate his presence in the blogosphere. Sean used to work at CNN ask him if he thinks I’m right. It’s like a talk radio version of a diva contest just like the one the media soaks up all the time between Britney, Christina , ashlee, Jessica,& Paris.

  5. Kay Says:

OFF TOPIC : I just thought I’d share this with everyone. Should be mandatory reading for every US citizen :

  6. Marge N. Overa Says:

    Glenn Beck is appeasing terrorists!!

  7. JTitor Says:

Comment by Kay — Excellent article.

  8. Dumb_Fox Says:

Does that mean he’d vote for Keith Ellison?

  9. Joe Says:

I know Al Sharpton wouldn’t vote for one.

  10. Dumb_Fox Says:

Oh yeah, there’s a famous bit of paper that has this on it:

“… no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”

Glenn Beck, fighting the Constitution one article at a time.

  11. Peter Says:

Glenn Beck is an a$$. He, his network, AND HIS ADVERTIZERS, should be shunned.

When there are economic consequences to having giving these idiots a platform, they will go back to standing on soap-boxes.

  12. j swift Says:

Shorter Beck: “If the centuries old hatred in Middle East ended today, I would consider voting for a Jew.”

(snort) playing it safe ain’t he?

  13. trueblue Says:

    OT, I know, but intersesting.

    From WMR:

May 10, 2007 — WMR has received a third well-placed confirmation that Vice President Dick Cheney, while CEO of Halliburton, was a client of the escort service of DC Madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey. In addition, one of Cheney’s closest military advisers and friends was also a client of the DC Madam’s Pamela Martin & Associates escort service. Cheney used the escort service while he was a part time resident of the posh Ballantrae section of McLean, Virginia.

After intense pressure from the White House and Disney executives, ABC News killed the DC Madam client story after having been given exclusive access to Palfrey’s ten years’ of phone call records.

  14. CONservative Says:

Can’t we get rid of this horse’s @$$ already? I am in agreement with #3, there are already countless reasons to not vote for LIEberman without playing that card.

  15. ct Says:

remarkable! - how soon the regressives on this can forget all the anti semetic comments about Joe which they themselves posted on this site.

  16. And You Thought REAGAN Was Stupid Says:

That makes at least 2 of us who wouldn’t vote for Lieberman. I wouldn’t vote for Joe because he’s a tool.

  17. TripMaster Monkey Says:

    Comment by ct — May 11, 2007 @ 8:52 am

Could you provide some examples? ct?

    And try to remember: anti-Israel != anti-semetic.

  18. And You Thought REAGAN Was Stupid Says:

#15. remarkable! You’ve made a sweeping claim, yet have provided absolutely zero evidence of your assertion.

  19. Pete Bogs Says:

    I wouldn’t vote for Lieberman because he’s an ass…

  20. Kay Says:

I keep thinking of Howard Zinn’s words (not exact) but to summarize : it’s not going to these elected officials to change the world, it’s the citizens creating movements (however small) and then they grow and grow.

I know this may sound idealistic (I guess I am) — but when it comes to re-opening 9/11 investigations and all the other scandals caused by the Chimpy Administration — we are only going to get answers by working together.

If we look for answers from the Crooks in D.C. we’ll be lost forever.

  21. toasterhead Says:

That’s a pretty crappy thing to say. I don’t think it makes him worse than Hitler, though.

  22. Dreary Urbanite Says:

Glenn Beck might vote for a Jew? That’s mighty white of him – the moron.

  23. Kate Henry Says:

Right. The middle east would use Joe Lieberman but no other “Jew” elected to office. Sorry Beck, your prejudice is showing.

  24. AkaDad Says:

Sure Beck is a sexist, racist, homophobe, and bigot, but to think he’s an anti-semite is just absurd…

  25. clb72 Says:

TP, stop watching Glenn Beck. Left-wing media monitors are the only ones who still tune in.

  26. Abern3rd Says:

I’m an Italian Jew, and I would never watch Beck’s show, even if I had cable. To say he won’t vote for Lieberman because he’s Jewish is like saying I won’t vote for Hillary because she’s a woman, or because she’s from Arakanas.

  27. OxyCon Says:

Alot of people wonder why CNN would broadcast such a right wing extremist as Glenn Beck.
That is the wrong context in which to frame the thought.
People should be wondering why CNN is broadcasting the rantings of an insane lunatic, and why anyone would want to tune in.
Is the market for crazy people a large one?

  28. Joe Says:

Sharpton is clearly on record as being an anti-semite. And I think I would make a pretty good elected official because I know how to think, not live in the past and dwell over Reagan.

  29. Proud Dem Says:

‘wouldn’t vote for [Sen.] Joe Lieberman [I-CT] as president…because of the way the Middle East would use it,’ but also asserted, ‘That’s not saying the same thing as I wouldn’t vote for a Jew for president.‘”

That’s like a lawyer getting a witness to say something, the other lawyer objecting, the judge asking it to be stricken from the record. The jury heard it, will definitely remember it and the verdict is weighted from that “stricken” statement.

    He is such a boob.

  30. rk Says:

SO Glen Beck would consider the views of other countries (Muslims) before casting his vote. Doesn’t that make him an appeaser and an unpatiotic American. Choosing muslims over Jews. The Horror!

  31. Abern3rd Says:

I can remember when everyone was all concerned with what everyone else in other countries would think about Bush getting elected again. Kerry even visited Germany and Japan and came back saying they wanted him to be President.

Even if Glenn Beck doesn’t want to vote for Joe because he’s Jewish, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t think about what other people in the world think. Shouldn’t they be represented in our elections, also.

  32. s foster Says:

Glenn Beck can’t help exposing his moronic attitudes in public, but the comments here don’t address the issue which is that Lieberman’s loyalties are questionable. Lieberman supports every policy and strategy of the US that gives unconditional support to the state of Israel, even at the cost of Jewish and Palestinian lives in the continuing conflict. It is not racist or bigoted to question his loyalty to the Jewish lobby. Indeed, it needs to be investigated and talked about much more by the MSM, but everyone is afraid of the Israeli-American lobby groups, particularly AIPAC. These groups use every possible means to stifle discussion and debate on whether American interests should always be aligned with those of the Israeli government–a powerful indication that there are things they don’t want the public looking at. The US needs to carefully reconsider its unconditional support for a state that does not treat its citizens equally and engages in deeply cynical strategies to advance its desire to absorb as much Palestinian territory as possible without providing its inhabitants with any rights. There is no doubt the US is suffering and will continue to suffer from the effects of its support of corrupt Israeli policies.

  33. Zooey Says:

Glenn Beck has probably never voted in his life.

  34. david Says:

Beck will ask Barack Hussein Obama to reassure him that he isn’t working for the Islamofascists.

Beck will have Republican hopeful Tommy Thompson as a guest. Thompson will suggest Liebermaus to replace Wolfowitz saying, “Those people have a tradition of earning money.”

  35. TripMaster Monkey Says:

Still waiting for those examples, ct…

  36. Joe Says:

    Comment by TripMaster Monkey

Here are your examples: Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. They’re on the record. Look them up and have a field day.

  37. Shirley Says:

Looks like Think Progress is restricting free speech with censorship again. So much for their values of honest expression.

  38. chimpy 3000 Says:

screw you, Glenn… someday when I’m president I won’t have needed your vote and my fellow americans will not have given a hoot what the Middle East thinks… we don’t roll that way… and the first thing I will do is light a fire under Israel’s butt to stop torturing and treating Palestinians like second class citizens and to lead by example.

  39. TripMaster Monkey Says:

    Comment by Joe — May 11, 2007 @ 10:22 am

And do Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson post at this website? Read post #15, and then log off before you hurt yourself.

  40. Shirley Says:

Can someone explain who makes the hiring decisions at ABC Disney and CNN? My guess is they are Jewish. So why would they be promoting this guy and all the other monsters they’ve installed in the MSM over names like Lewis Lapham, Molly Ivins, Noam Chomsky etc.? Are the views of extreme Zionist Jews like Chaim Saban et al dictating why the Glenn Becks of the world get their own shows and better minds get zilch?

  41. RUCerious Says:

WTF is it with Ben Gleck and Jews?
Every other thread I see his name on has some slant on Jewry, usually something derogatory.
I thought his Granny was Dutch?

  42. kelso Says:

    Lieb-man running for president? HAHAHA!!

  43. Chuck Says:

Questions about Glenn Beck’s Mormon ties ( or other religions), might
best be researched by clicking on http://www.equip.org/ for solid facts from Hank Haanegraaf, “The Bible Answer Man.”

  44. ct Says:

    Lieb-man running for president? HAHAHA!!

    — ed lamont said some similar bs right before Joe beat his brains in on election day

  45. marlow Says:

Vote for a Jew? Glenn who?

Still waiting for those examples, ct…either the examples or a retraction & apology will do.

  47. ct Says:

i wouldn’t hold your breath on that one

  48. TripMaster Monkey Says:

    ct sez:

i wouldn’t hold your breath on that one

Thanks for confirming that you need not be taken seriously.

    Run along, now…

  49. ct Says:

    that all you got?

  50. Granola Hippy Says:

Translation: I would never vote for a Jew to become president.

  51. Dan Says:

Someone needs to tell it like it is. Lieberman is a hawk. His Jewish background does have something to do with this. There are many, many people who are capable of being president, why not choose one who is best for our country diplomatically. It’s very important.

  52. Joe Says:

    Comment by TripMaster Monkey

So……Sharpton and Jackson’s anti-semetic comments have to be archived on TP in order to be anti-semetic?

  53. ct Says:

the so-called management of this site has issued more than 1 warning to all of it’s lib posters to scale back on all the anti-semetic, and bigoted comments. particularly during Joe’s most recent past election cycle.

now dripmaster moron - would that happen if there were none?

  54. ct Says:

    thats what i thought

  55. TripMaster Monkey Says:

    Comment by ct — May 11, 2007 @ 1:36 pm

Still waiting for those examples, ct. Surely, if the practice was so widespread as to merit “more than 1 warning” from the management, you can scrape up a few examples…

It’s a valid request, ct. You were the one who made the claim back in post #15…now it’s up to you to substantiate it. Produce the examples, or admit they don’t exist.

  56. TripMaster Monkey Says:

    Comment by ct — May 11, 2007 @ 1:43 pm

What??? I requested substantiation of your claim over five hours ago, and you have yet to produce any, but you seem to regard a seven minute silence from me as a victory??? Sheesh, you’re pathetic.

You know what? Forget it. I release you from your obligation to substantiate your earlier claim. You’ve already demonstrated quite convincingly that nothing you say needs to be considered seriously, anyway.

  57. ct Says:

you are presenting a 9 year olds’ point of view. (no doubt the best you can do)
as though anybody might keep a log book of all the moronic comments that appear on this site (would be bigger than the manhatten phone book)

but hey - if thats how you get thru it.

changes nothing - i stand by all my comments

now go get your shine box

  58. roland Says:

he voted for and supported Joe in his Senate run after he was cast aside by the Dem party for not towing the party line….did we forget about that?

  59. Err Says:

    Wha? (W, t, f?)

Since when was glenn anti-jewish? Sorry i’ve been watching him for long and he’s never made a racist comment or shown racism towards any race, including Jews. (Except for all the stuff he says that you guys like to cut and paste in quotes to make him look racist)

  60. Doug Says:

Now that’s funny…I am an avid Glenn Beck listener and you are spinning his words. Glen is not an anti-muslim or anti-arab activist. He is against the fundamentalist muslims who would like to impose Sharia law on all nations and people. Glen is a supported of Muslims and has had several on his show. He is also a very big supporter of Jews and Israel…you need to get your facts right and stop paraphrasing sentences to make them fit your story…
