  3. Kate Henry says:

This will go nowhere, just like Man Coulter’s voter fraud went nowhere. The Bush Admin will have the FBI call the prosecutor and vouch for this guy and all charges will be dropped.

Did you see the thread below about what McWhiny did on the House floor? No, he didn’t pee himself, but it might have been less embarrassing….

  9. proudleftists says:

I have seen Rep. McHenry speaking on the floor, of the U.S. House on C – SPAN many times, and also on The Chis Matthews Show, he is an idiot, Matthews is also, but at times, Mr. Matthews can be sensible even though he is over the top when it comes to Hillary, and he still loves Rudy and McCain.

  10. Uncle Ho says:

voter fraud- just what the GOP is ALWAYS accusing the Democrats of. LMFAO! Republican- the “Do as I say, not as I do” party.

  11. Candyce says:

There’s always at least one person in every Congress who just sets my teeth on edge, and this year it’s been McHenry. Sanctimonious, whining, napoleon-complex, know-nothing, stammering, cowering, cowardly, embarrassing, self-righteous fool! When I get more time I’ll tell you what I really think of the guy.

Anyhoo, some information pointing to Patty’s living arrangementshere:

“The NCC has done its own investigation and discovered that during the 2004 election there were 6 people registered to vote using the address of the candidate, Patrick McHenry. The house listed as McHenry’s residence at 1100 Requa Road, Cherryville, was a three bedroom ranch style house. The NCC investigation revealed that several of the occupants of the house at 1100 Requa Road registered shortly before the August, 2004 primary. In particular, one occupant, Michael Aaron Lay, registered to vote in Gaston County while at the same time he was licensed to drive in Tennessee, operated a vehicle tagged in the State of Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee as an in State student.Under Chapter 163 of our state statutes it is illegal to register to vote, or vote, in a precinct in which you are not a resident. Michael Aaron Lay was a Tennessee resident when he came to North Carolina to help Patrick McHenry in his bid for Congress. Lay enjoyed in-state tuition status and every indicator points to his continued status as a Tennessee resident. Lay has continued to live in Tennessee, and he has renewed his driver’s license in Tennessee since that time. Why, therefore, with such evidence pointing towards a non-resident registering and voting using a candidate’s address, did the District Attorney not investigate? Perhaps the answer to that question lies in the personal relationship between the Gaston County District Attorney, Michael Lands, and Patrick McHenry.”

So, it took a new DA to actually go after the voter fraud allegations. I guess Rove missed this one.

Isn’t McHenry one of the class of ‘02? These weasels rode to power on the fears of American voters, and have mostly embarrassed themselves (and their constituents) since then. Wouldn’t it be funny if his aide rolls on him, and his constituents exposed to ridicule for supporting him?

The real importance of this story is that as the owner of the home and cohabitating with Michael Aaron Lay, Patrick McHenry is subject to similar felony charges under NC law. If it is shown that McHenry “procured” the illegal registration it is my bet that he will follow Michael Lay into the grand jury room. Do you think there’s any pressure now on this NC district attorney?

Indeed, talk about your little ironies

  19. JPark says:

Patrick McHenry is a pedophile. He said that the Foley scandal was an election ploy. Patrick McHenry, you need to stop diddling little children.

  20. sconset117@yahoo.com says:

Patrick is “dixie”–he is as gay as Foley, Mehlmann and Gannon. It is only a matter of time before he gets nailed. He couldn’t stop running his mouth when Foley got caught–blaming it on the democrats using it as an election eve ploy.

Trust me, this guy is as gay as can be–and he is in for a very rude awakening.

  21. JPark says:

scon, the majority of gays are not pedophiles. McHenry is in the minority.

  22. NCBlueneck says:

Will they have a special election, or does the governor get to name the replacement? I grin at the thought of McHenry getting caught with his pants (euphemistically) down.

  23. Jenna says:

First off I’d like to say that this is absolutely ridiculous. Low life politicians and activists are tearing apart the lives of an innocent man who is a devout Christian and 100% heterosexual. Media failed to mention that other than Mr. Lay, there were 6 other individuals living in the home registered to McHenry, all of which who were aiding in his campaign. Mr. Lay was simply working towards his career as a lawyer and only chose to return to Tennessee to finish law school so he could move back to North Carolina. Never was he required by law to return to Tennessee. Only simply minded, ignorant individuals could be naive enough to point the finger at a man accusing him of being gay because he offered a home for those helping with his campaign. Get a life people and stop ruining others. Law says that after being a resident for a month, one can register to vote in North Carolina and Mr. Lay had been a resident for over a month. Watch your mouths before you speak, I’m sure none with rude comments have personally met Mr. Lay. I’ve known him for 20 years and there is not a bad bone in his body. Maybe if you had any respect for yourself you would refrain from making comments about someone you will never have the privelege of meeting. And by the way, I’m proud to be a democrat but I still have no respect for those who discriminate without first learning the facts.

  24. Jason says:

looks like another case of a bunch of asshats making up stories to amuse themselves online while they could be out doing something with their lives. just a bunch of MIFFED individuals. since Jimbo DUDE loves acronyms so much:

    MISINFORMED
    IGNORANT
    FIRED

    ENVIOUS
    DESPERATE

  25. steve bass says:

Jenna, In state tuition is a financial privilege of residency. Your friend, Michael Lay, was getting in state tuition. Yes, you can move with intent to remain permanently and thus gain residential status. However, it would take a totally idiot to not realize that a financial benefit based on legal residential status trumps the “i’ve moved here permanently, believe me” argument. As history has taught us, the courts are not humored by dissembling, disingenous arguments. Better get a better one.

  26. Jenna says:

Wow steve, you should really do a little more research. Of course Aaron recieved In state tuition. He lived in Tennessee when he was a student there. He wasn’t enrolled during the 200 and some odd days when he was a legal resident of North Carolina. During the time when he was a student of UT he was also a Tennessee resident so as far as arguments go, maybe you should “get a better one” and get the facts before you speak. It takes a total idiot to be so ignorant.
