Appearing on NBC’s Chris Matthews Show this morning, Atlanta Journal-Constitution columnist Cynthia Tucker revealed that sources within the military are warning of “a revolt from active-duty generals if September rolls around and the president is sticking with the surge into ‘08.” Watch it:
Noting that retired generals such as Gen. John Batiste have already begun voicing their discontent with the president’s strategy in Iraq, Tucker added that the generals “don’t want to fall by the wayside like the generals in Vietnam did, kept pushing a war that they knew was lost.”
When President Bush vetoed the Iraq timeline legislation earlier this month, he claimed that “the measure would ‘impose impossible conditions on our commanders in combat’ by forcing them to ‘take fighting directions from politicians 6,000 miles away in Washington, DC.’”
But despite past claims that “the right force level” will be determined by “the sober judgement of our military leaders,” the Bush administration has a proven track record of disregarding the advice of military leaders. As recently as last December, when the White House was first pushing its escalation plan, the administration explicitly ignored “the unanimous disagreement of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.”
It appears the commanders on the ground in Iraq are getting tired of “taking fighting directions” from a politician “6,000 miles away” in the White House. And they might not stay quiet for long.
Transcript:
TUCKER: Look for a revolt from active-duty generals if September rolls around and the president is sticking with the surge into ‘08. We’ve already heard from retired generals. But my Atlanta Journal-Constitution colleague Jay Bookman has lots of sources among currently serving military officers who don’t want to fall by the wayside like the generals in Vietnam did, kept pushing a war that they knew was lost.
Ms. Tucker, thank you for standing up and speaking the truth. You are one of the last American heroes.

May 13th, 2007 at 11:32 amI am surprised that the commanders on the ground in Iraq have stuck in there this long. Daily they see their young men and women massacred and there is nothing they can do about it. They see what happens to commanders who disagree with Bush. They are soon out of a job and no longer in a position to help our troops.
The neoCONS like to think about a Military Coup in this country. If there is a Military Coup it will be to get this madman out of the Whitehouse and into a padded cell where he can no longer hurt anyone.
May 13th, 2007 at 11:35 amWhatis the GOP September Plan B for Iraq?
“By the time we get to September or October, members are going to want to know how well this is working, and if it isn’t, what’s Plan B.”
House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH), May 6, 2007.
“I have no Plan B.”
John McCain, on his support for the Iraq surge, April 13, 2007.
“Plan B was to make Plan A work.”
Joint Chiefs Chairman General Peter Pace, on Iraq, March 5, 2007.
“I don’t think you go to Plan B. You work with Plan A.”
May 13th, 2007 at 11:40 amSecretary of State Rice, asked what the U.S. should do if the Iraqi government does not live up to its assurances, March 5, 2007.
20 July 1944. Lest we forget.

Synapsis of Articles of Impeachment Against Vice President Richard B. Cheney
Articles of impeachment exhibited by the House of Representatives of the United States of America in the name of itself and of the people of the United States of America, in maintenance and support of its impeachment against him for high crimes and misdemeanors.
Artice I
The Vice President of the United States, Richard B. Cheney, has purposely manipulated the intelligence process to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United States by fabricating a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction to justify the use of the U.S. Armed Forces against the nation of Iraq in a manner damaging to our national security interests.
(1) Despite all evidence to the contrary, the Vice President actively and systematically sought to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United States about an alleged threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction.
(2) Preceding the March 2003 invasion of Iraq the Vice President was fully informed that no legitimate evidence existed of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. The Vice President pressured the intelligence community to change their findings to enable the deception of the citizens and Congress of the United States.
(3) The Vice President’s actions corrupted or attempted to corrupt the 2002 National Intelligence Estimate, an intelligence document issued on October 1, 2002 vote to autorize the use of force. The Vice President’s actions prevented the necessary reconciliation of facts for the National Intellgence Estimate which resulted in a high number of dissenting opinions from technical experts in two federal agencies.
The Vice President subverted the national security interests of the United States by setting the stage for the loss of more than 3,300 United States service members; the loss of 650,000 Iraqi citizens since the U.S. invasion; the loss of approximately $500 billion in war costs which has increased our federal debt; the loss of military readiness within the United States Armed Services due to overextension, lack of training and lack of equipment; the loss of United States credibility in world affairs; and the decares of likely blowback created by the invasion of Iraq.

May 13th, 2007 at 11:44 amwhy didn’t bush just sign the bill and claim a partial victory(seeing as that is how he seems to get off)and leave negotiations with congress an open-ended matter(seeing as how he wants to ‘run out the clock on this conflict’?)there was MONEY in that bill and so maybe NOW moderate America can see that it’s about the presidential EGO and not funding this tragic mess we’re in.

May 13th, 2007 at 12:08 pmA coup occurred on September 11th.
Some of the military leaders assisted, including Tommy Franks, General Myers, Norman Shwarzkopf and others. Ask where Tommy Franks and Stormin’ Norman are right now. Where is Henry Kissinger? What are they planning right now?
There is now a Shadow Government operating from within the White House, with its own shadow intelligence network (NSA warrantless wiretaps) and Shadow Military command structure.
The sooner the REAL PATRIOTS figure out what Karl Rove (the Architect”) has helped to enable - under the direction of GHW Bush at the behest of David Rockefeller, the soon the REAL MILITARY LEADERS and the REAL AMERICAN PATRIOTS can expose the REAL TRUTH OF 9/11 and all that has followed.
To grap the truth of it, try to think like the most greedy and evil minded bastard in the world…
It’s worse than you can imagine.
They are arranging for the False Flag attack on two US cities and a US aircraft carrier as we speak - all in order to change the subject in DC an implement Martial Law in order to save their own skins.
Are with with US or against US?

May 13th, 2007 at 12:10 pmBush, enabled by cowardly and corrupt Republicans, has brought this country to a Constitutional crisis. He must be impeached for the good of the Republic, before our entire system of governance falls by the wayside.

May 13th, 2007 at 12:15 pm#23 I certainly do not want active duty military officers in open revolt. It creates a very scary situation that strikes at the very legitimacy of government. I would prefer that military officers resign, then protest the administration as private citizens.

May 13th, 2007 at 12:18 pmAmerica may yet experience its first military coup d’etat.
May 13th, 2007 at 12:19 pmThe Pentagon rebelled against Rumsfeld and they will not tolerate Cheney telling them what to do any longer. Dicky never served a day in his life, so he is asking for trouble with the military, and Bush baby was AWOL during Vietnam conflict, so he is asking for it too.
May 13th, 2007 at 12:22 pmThe problem with Americans is that they still clutch this notion that we live in a democracy. We haven’t lived in a democratic country for six and half years.
May 13th, 2007 at 12:29 pmNote: Hitler had trouble with his Generals during WWII, but he could show them his Iron Cross medal for valor from WWI to back them down. Bush and Cheney have nothing to cow the military.
May 13th, 2007 at 12:30 pmI’m not sure you want active duty military officers in open revolt.
Comment by klyde
No, I want them in open dissent. I think it may be the only thing that might get through to the authoritarian bedwetting 28%.
May 13th, 2007 at 12:31 pmMistress Z > the GOPers will claim that Liberals in the military are revolting and are traitors.
May 13th, 2007 at 12:35 pmA coup d’etat is coming. If it isn’t, we’re about as effing stupid as the world perceives us to be.
May 13th, 2007 at 12:36 pmThe “revolt” MIGHT include some high-profile resignations, but don’t count on anything more than that. The active-duty Generals are not going to “revolt.” They’ve been taught all of their lives, all of their careers NOT to dissent from “authority.”
All Bush and Cheney need to accomplish their mission is another “pearl-harbor-style attack….” Then, they can eliminate the Constitution altogether, establish Martial Law, and establish their Totalitarian Dictatorship.
No, they wouldn’t say such an outrageous thing, who would admit to grandiose delusions like that? But, doesn’t everything they say, everything they do, everything they are on a daily basis for the past six years, lead you to that irrefutable conclusion?
They are the “smoking gun that turns into the mushroom cloud.”
May 13th, 2007 at 12:38 pmI would welcome a widespread secession. States (blue, red, purple) just start pulling out of this fascist dominionist imperial regime and re-working their local economies to accommodate based on overwhelming public sentiment.

May 13th, 2007 at 12:45 pmOne US General a couple of years ago was mysteriously fired by Rumsfeld for having a sexual affair, but he was divorced from his wife, so some claim he was involved in plotting a coup against Bush and was found out.

Very likely, but we’ll get some of the 28%ers to wake the f*ck up.
May 13th, 2007 at 12:48 pmNo need for a coup.
May 13th, 2007 at 12:48 pmResignations en masse, generals, colonels, majors, captains.
Leave the lieutenants there to run the show.
If the troops get in harms way, the fragging will commence.
TIME TO IMPEACH THEM!!!!!!
May 13th, 2007 at 12:49 pmDoes anybody notice a parallel with the U.S. Attorneys? Competent Generals have been forced into retirement while “Loyal Bushies” are promoted.
Even the respected General Petraeus’ primary job seems to be to lobby Congress…
May 13th, 2007 at 12:49 pmOK CONGRESS….ACT!! IMPEACH THOSE WIMPS!!!
May 13th, 2007 at 12:50 pmShouldn’t item (1), under Article 1, read “Despite all claims to the contrary”?
May 13th, 2007 at 12:51 pmHistorically military coups come from the 2nd/3rd level of officers. Meaning Colonels, Majors, and Captains. Generals tend to be scared to buck the system. If a coup occurred in US, then you would see junior officers move against the Pentagon Generals first, then surrounding the White House with tanks.
May 13th, 2007 at 12:55 pmCould the September “Plan B” turn into a 9/11, Plan B?
May 13th, 2007 at 12:56 pmIf a coup did occur, then Cheney would put on a dress, wig, and makeup to flee the White House. He would say that he is just a fat secretary leaving WH to go home.
May 13th, 2007 at 1:00 pmOff to go work in my garden before it rains. Bye all and take care.
May 13th, 2007 at 1:03 pmThe one shock our political system doesn’t need is a military revolt.
Although the irony of it would be kinda cool: the military turning on the people who’ve spent decades yammering about how pro-military they are and how they Support The Troops and how the Dirty Hippie Liberals don’t.
On second thought, maybe I’ll go with the irony. Besides, our political system could might just use a salutary shock…
May 13th, 2007 at 1:09 pmGentlemen: Bring it on!
May 13th, 2007 at 1:12 pmI wonder when the generals will finally wake up to the fact that their participation in an illegal war of aggression could end up putting them in front of an international war crimes tribunal as well?
The Nuremburg Trials didn’t just go after the Political leadership, but also the soldiers who were “just following orders.”

May 13th, 2007 at 2:50 pmWe may just witness the first military coup in American history. Frankly, in comparison with Brighid’s comments about another “Pearl Harbor-style attack” and the draconian response that would follow, I prefer the former. And certainly trust the return to democracy following it more than the latter event.

there are no explicitly sexual or otherwise offensive words in that statement.
May 13th, 2007 at 3:23 pmDon’t get me wrong, I despise what President Bush is doing to our military in Iraq. I do have an issue with the term “revolt” used regarding our military officers. That is very close to “coup”, which is scary enough, except for I think it might actually happen.
Representative Democracy is only as strong as its leaders and our leaders (President Bush and company) are not very strong. Pig headed, yes, but not strong.
I hope we aren’t looking at either a mutiny or coup.

May 13th, 2007 at 3:24 pmDoes anyone know a synonym for “mundane”?
May 13th, 2007 at 3:32 pmIt would be nice if the military gave the Republican Caucus an ultimatum that went thusly; “Either Shit-For-Brains resigns or you impeach him. Otherwise, we turn the lot of them over to The Hague.â€
I can dream, can’t I?
May 13th, 2007 at 3:32 pmThese kinds of predictions are becoming a little long in the tooth. Maybe it would be simpler to just report it when it happens, then continually raising progressive hopes only to be dashed time after time. You should probably focus your attention on some way to claim victory after Bush leaves office in ‘09, because that’s probably all you can look forward too.
May 13th, 2007 at 3:35 pmComment by PhxJustice — May 13, 2007 @ 3:23 pm
I agree. I think what’s being alluded to is the potential for a mass resignation of senior officers. That might be called a revolt by some. I don’t think we would see a military coup.
The other thing that no one wants to address is the possibility for some soldier or Marine with PTSD and orders for yet another tour of duty might go all Rambo against the political leadership of this country.

The military revolt I am waiting for is for our military to march to the White House and frog step the madman out of there and into a padded room somewhere. It’s time we take back our country.
May 13th, 2007 at 5:35 pm“I would welcome a widespread secession. States (blue, red, purple) just start pulling out of this fascist dominionist imperial regime and re-working their local economies to accommodate based on overwhelming public sentiment.”
I like that idea. The red states would become a third world country in no time without the Blue states to support them. I am sick and tired of the midwest having so much influence over our elections when they don’t pay their fair share of our debt to this country.
May 13th, 2007 at 5:41 pmWhen these Generals finally grow a pair and go into the White House, Arrest Bush and Cheney for Treason, and declare New Elections…Maybe we can start believing in the “moral high ground” again.
May 13th, 2007 at 6:20 pmEnough is ENOUGH!!!
How many more people have to die for Bush’s mental problem with his Daddy and Cheney’s Buddies’ Greed??????
60 and 65 have it correctly - any “revolt” would be mass resignations or a series of resignations as officer after officer is offered some position in regards to Iraq. This has happened once before, at least. During the late 1940’s President Truman faced an “Admiral’s revolt” when he attempted to unify the armed forces. The Army gave up it’s air force (formerly the Army Air Force), but the Navy refused to give up naval control of it’s aircraft. President Truman backed down, otherwise we would have simply the United States Military consisting of land, air and sea forces.
May 13th, 2007 at 6:24 pmThe closest we have ever come to an actual coup was during the early part of the Depression and involved a Marine General named Smedley Butler although he wasn’t the leader. Back then, because of the extremely small siaze of the army, it would have been very difficult. Any modern coup attempt would have to be civilian-led and would most likely follow another, and more catastrophic, surprise attack a la Pearl Harbor.
D.E. Stamate
USN (ret)
By “revolt” I assume we are speaking in the same hyperbole Rush Limbough uses when he says he needs armed protection because somebody defaced one of his billboards.
But, frankly, since we seem to be “boiling the frog” toward Christo-Fascism anyway I guess it would be a coin toss whether a military coup would demand the repeal of Bush’s last few years of laws and restoration of the constitution — or not. Certainly of great evil in the longer term vs. not knowing the results of a short-term action by patriots. Which to hope for?
I’ve been figuring for years now it would be “interesting times” in my old age much like the 1890s to the 1930s were “interesting times” for them in the first age of the Robber Barons and the subsequent socialist backlash. Just our damn luck I guess.
May 13th, 2007 at 6:50 pmAre we going to wait until September then the Chimp in chief says he needs more time (again!) before we impeach his sorry ass and get him out of there?
May 13th, 2007 at 8:04 pmAll the generals who are opposed to this are going to have to get Petraeus to go along. Bush and the repugs have put all their chips on him, and unless and until he says “enough” it won’t happen.
May 13th, 2007 at 8:06 pm= ‘revolt’ in a military sense can have many meanings. mass resignations probably won’t happen nor will an actual coup. what is more likely is foot-dragging and an extremely literal interpretation of orders and of command responsibilities. you’d be surprised at how long it can take to prepare a unit to go out, if the commanders and senior non-coms stick to the absolute letter of the regulations. think nit-picking to the nth power.
= in terms of coup d’etats, i’ve already lived through 3 of them: jfk’s assassination, election 2000 & election 2004.
= all things considered, it would be much better for congress to impeach the lot of them, from bush to the criminal precinct supervisor who counted illegal military ballots and threw out legal civilian ballots in northern florida in 2000. then we’d have president pelosi honoring extradition requests for these criminals to stand trial in the hague. at least she would after WE try them for treason, war crimes, mass murder and crimes against humanity for starters. a side benefit is that we won’t have to watch the democrats show who’s got the bigger pair, but will be able to watch the republifascists destroy themselves, hopefully forever. they are the black death, smallpox and influenza-a all wrapped together. being a republican should be a commitable condition. \\ free born

Sorry Cap’n…
…one doesn’t quit…
…a “Gravy Train”…
…with so much upside potential…
…look around you…
…how many MORE stupid people do you see who have their heads buried in the Presidency’s a*s…
…than those who are SCREAMING to stop this madness and calling for Bushiva, L’il Dick et al. to be brought to justice?
May 13th, 2007 at 8:56 pmAll this talk of a revolt, conservative against liberal, Blue vs. Red states, rich against poor, Repbubs vs. Dems is playin into the hands of the Traitors. As long as we let our focus be taken off how similar we are and redirected to our differnces, we will never reclaim our country. The issues of Race, Religion, Sexuality are only pushed for one reaso:. To keep the American People from uniting and bringing on real change. Want proof? ‘Impeachment is off the table”. Remember that statement from the supposed opposition leader? We all know that the Bush Administration has commited many crimes against the Constitution, The Nation and Mankind, yet are allowed to continue to do so. No fear of Justice, No Accountability, No Consequenses. Just Business as usual. We all are aware of recent laws that make it very easy to impliment Marshall Law, Eliminate Habeus Corpus (sic?) and suspend most of our individual freedoms (wiretaps) yet where are the urgent calls to repeal such liberty reducing acts? Where is the push to restore our Constitution and our Nation to Honor? Do you see or hear any pundits shouting out the message of restoring freedom? Do you find the so called opposition party pushing an agenda to take back all the liberties that have been stolen from us? No you don’t. Ever stop to ask why?
May 13th, 2007 at 8:57 pmBefore anything else we need to restore OUR Constitution and the protections it used to afford us. If we allow ourselves to be sidetracked by any other issue, we will lose all. Don’t think that the laws currently on the books won’t be used. This group now in the halls of power have put the “escape clauses” in for a reason. If they don’t use some real, imagined or staged event to trigger the process that will permit them to remain in control, then they run the risk of being prosecuted and punished for their crimes on the world stage. They don’t worry about that happening here, they have already rigged the rules in America by politicizing the DOJ and the Supreme(ly biased) Court. Their only real concern is with the rest of the world. They don’t control the press, the governments or the people in most of the rest of our planet. The rest of the world sees them for what they truly are, comon criminals.
I agree with a previous post and have been saying for some time that this all may result in a few generals kicking the Bush Gang out the backdoor. It would be unprecented, but so has everything else the past six years.
May 13th, 2007 at 9:14 pmJust so they allow for the next “duly” elected president to then replace them and work with the Speaker of the House in the interim.
Dear God, what these people have done to our country, and NO ONE is listening. We deserve the future that is about to unfold. Grab your socks and hold on. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride for awhile. And from the looks of the candidates being served up, we may very well have that mad man in the White House I’ve warned you about. Damn, it’s gonna be ugly. Is there anyone out there paying attention???
May 13th, 2007 at 10:31 pmOur active duty Generals are too concerned about their own skins to stand up to the politicians. Many of them are republicans anyway. Let’s be real. As much as I wish something to happen, nothing will. Too bad.
May 13th, 2007 at 10:53 pmWould someone please expain to me what the difference is between the statements “I am the decider” and “I am the dictator”?
May 13th, 2007 at 11:39 pmName one retired general who is defending the chimpanzee. Why are they all against the chimpanzee? The chimpanzee is not a military man.
May 14th, 2007 at 12:07 amIt is no longer a question of who will control Iraq, but who will control the United States. We have been sucked into the insanity that is Iraq. The Founding Fathers are the cooler heads to whom we must defer. The Constitution. The Articles of Impeachment. This is the way we must travel, but we must move quickly and I don’t see Pelosi signaling her recognizance. Pelosi must be inundated with demands for impeachment. It must happen. Get both Bush and Cheney out of there. Pelosi would preside as president, but somehow I don’t think she is up to the challenge. What then? Other scenarios on this post are possibilities and none of them have the checks and balances of our present system. Pelosi is thinking “Election 2008″ and Bush-Cheney are thinking the “Permanent Bush-Cheney Joint Dictatorship.” It is up to we the people to lead the way and there is at least one web site, The Downing Street Memo, that is dedicated to impeachment alone. Our national guards are conveniently out of country. The onus is on us to rise up against our oppressors just as we rose up against England.
May 14th, 2007 at 12:09 amREVOLUTION is the SOLUTION!!!
May 14th, 2007 at 1:04 amIt’s a piss-poor bunch of candidates we’re being offered from both parties in 08. There’s only one Constitutionalist in the bunch, and his name is Ron Paul. The big money and globalist bunch won’t support him because they know he’s the only one who could clean up the mess the Chimp & Co. are leaving behind them, which is a shell of what America used to be. The Chimp and his support system of criminals should all be convicted of treason and hung.
May 14th, 2007 at 1:30 amRead Ret. General Greg Newbold’s incredibly eloquent Time essay.
Those are deeply and long held, passionate ideas, not just a reaction to some future book by McMaster

Lt. General GREGORY NEWBOLD, Retired director of operations at the Pentagon’s military joint staff.
From the Magazine | Nation
Why Iraq Was a Mistake
A military insider sounds off against the war and the “zealots” who pushed it
By LIEUT. GENERAL GREG NEWBOLD (RET.)
Posted Sunday, Apr. 09, 2006
Two senior military officers are known to have challenged Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on the planning of the Iraq war. Army General Eric Shinseki publicly dissented and found himself marginalized. Marine Lieut. General Greg Newbold, the Pentagon’s top operations officer, voiced his objections internally and then retired, in part out of opposition to the war. Here, for the first time,
May 14th, 2007 at 1:46 amNewbold goes public with a full-throated critique:
Once these neo-con mad-men are cornered, they might get even more reckless and vicious. Maybe they’ll decide to strike Iran, no matter what the people think—”Well, the populace hates us now anyway, we might as well accomplish our goals…”
The elite oligarchs who run this planet appear to be getting nervous—they seem to know that matters can’t keep up like this, with the internet and public awareness of governmental corruption rising, they need to reign in the population with a little FEAR. They have the ‘War on Terror’ to scare us (based on their false-flag, inside-job known as 9/11), and they also have Global Warming as a back-up scare-tactic.
Both the ‘War on Terror’ and ‘Global Warming’ seem designed to 1) instill FEAR of catastrophe & death in the population, and 2) induce submission to increased CONTROL of the population.
“The world changed on 9/11….blah blah blah…..Global Warming will change everything….blah blah blah…….NOW SUBMIT TO THE NEW TERMS BY WHICH YOU’LL LIVE YOUR FEAR-RIDDEN LIVES, PEONS.”
May 14th, 2007 at 1:56 amThe sky may fall as well. This report bogus.and based on hersay. No inside source could know such a thing. Cynthia Tucker, for sure, heard someones opinion, but get real. Generals dig war anyway they can get it.
May 14th, 2007 at 3:42 amWell, the reporter agreed with “will criticize on duty” That will be it - jawboning. The public may not pay much more attention than they did to the retired Generals who criticized, and who were all smeared by the right.
Still, this is very credible since the AJC is a conservative paper - not some tiny liberal publication that is just wet-dreaming because they don’t like Bush.
May 14th, 2007 at 4:24 amThank you Ms. Tucker for your information.
About time the generals stood up against this puppet dictator and those who own him who are trying to enrich themselves at the price of destroying the USA. About time the generals started thinking for themselves !!
Impeach Cheney and Bush before they start a nuclear war in Iran.
Hillary and Edwards are owned by the CFR and Bilderberg groups. They are for a new world order which destroys the sovereignty of the USA.
Vote for Ron Paul in 2008. Yahoo and ABC and CNN etc. were (before they were confronted) censoring him. Why would they censor him ? Because they these big corporations fell threatened by the constitution and what Ron Paul’s messag is. The corporations now rule DC and will do anything to maintain that power.
Be aware that the Federal Reserve is a privately owned monopoly of international banks and therefore does everything for its own bottom line and NOTHING for the bottom line of the citizen. Unbeknownst to most citizens it is the most powerful force in our govt and was warned against by our forefathers.
Be aware that illegally and silently the invisible govt in the USA is creating a North American Union which will destroy all rights of US citizens.
Don’t believe me, google for “private federal reserve”. google “north american union”. google “ron paul”, google “hillary bilderberg”
http://www.ronpaul.org
May 14th, 2007 at 5:01 amRon Paul for president. Voted against the Iraq war. Ron is for removing the IRS. Our tax dollars go to paying only the interest on the national debt and much of it into the pockets of those that privately own the federal reserve. Ron is for pulling out of Iraq, now. Ron is totally against any North American Union ? He is what this nation needs. We need to restore our constitution. Ron Paul will bring real investigations re: 911 and JFK and Waco and OKC. Web polls show he is the winner of the Republican debate but the bought and paid for 5 company owned mass media have mostly been censoring him. Please support him for the sake of the future of our country.
I read former Lt. Gen. Gregory Newbold’s essay and discovered an old saw wrapped in specious platitudes. To wit: “And while I don’t accept the stated rationale for invading Iraq, my view–at the moment–is that a precipitous withdrawal would be a mistake. It would send a signal, heard around the world, that would reinforce the jihadists’ message that America can be defeated, and thus increase the chances of future conflicts. If, however, the Iraqis prove unable to govern, and there is open civil war, then I am prepared to change my position.”
This article, published April 9, 2006, is too old to be of much use. How about it Gen. Newbold, do you think the Iraqis have proved unable to govern, and is there an open civil war yet? Do you still think a precipitous withdrawal would be a mistake? How about a gradual withdrawal? Don’t you think the jihadists, and every other planet dweller with half a memory, have known for 30 years that America can be defeated? Isn’t that one of the lessons we learned in Vietnam?
Gen. Newbold, you retired ( figuratively discarded your weapon) then you ran away from the battlefield, only to return after the fight had been won by the neocons. Your return to the old, quiet battlefield of April 9, 2006, doesn’t really mean anything to anybody. I will not hesitate to suggest that a true patriot-warrior would stand and fight for the Constitution he/she was sworn to defend.
The true patriot-warrior would atttempt to lead others in his/her defense. Hell, man you’re a general, and maybe that was the problem. You followed all the other generals into retirement, yes? Had you stayed in the service and fought for what you thought was right, you would have been fired and there goes your retirement pay, correct? Like so many other warriors who decided to retire (retreat, run away) you lost the opportunity to achieve honor and glory in a fight you couldn’t really lose, in the long run. You were led down the rose-strewn path by the likes of George Bush, Dick Cheney, et.al., who have consistently demonstrated an abject ignorance of what is right and what is wrong.
There is nothing in your behavior that would inspire the likes of Patrick Henry, uh, sir.
The article, basically a waste of time, is viewable here:
May 14th, 2007 at 6:11 amhttp://www.time.com/ time/ magazine/ article/ 0,9171,1181629,00.html
way to go generals! the mujahideen now realize that their enemy is a cowardly one who has given up. what a disgrace that the so-called mightiest military on earth is getting it’s ass handed to it by a bunch of illiterates. PC liberalism has truly destroyed this once-great institution. they should all be ashamed of themselves. i don’t care whether you are for the war or against the war, losing to these animals will bring the terror chickens home to roost you can be sure. get ready for bus bombings, mall shootings, and other attacks right here on american soil. what will the cowardly generals say then? surrender the government? convert to islam? where are real men like douglas macarthur when you need them. these pencil pushers are pathetic.
May 14th, 2007 at 6:24 amHorsecrap.
No general is going to risk his stars and pension “revolting”, such as which would be treason during a time of war and subject to death.
But nice try.
I thought you were all going to Canada after 2004?
May 14th, 2007 at 7:22 amThe idiot will convert the good, old US in a Banana Republic.
May 14th, 2007 at 7:25 amUnbelivable.
BRING HOME THE TROOPS-NOW
May 14th, 2007 at 7:30 amIt ain’t over til the amerikans pay compensation. Now let’s see… Lockerbie-Rate @$10million each…x 1 million deaths for false sanctions plus i million deaths this last war…
That’s $10,000,000×2,000,000,000=$20,000,000,000,000.00
May 14th, 2007 at 7:38 amIMPRISON BUSH
May 14th, 2007 at 7:44 amOk, how many times have we heard this in the past? It’s great to hear the truth is coming out but based on past actions I don’t have a lot of faith that anyone in the military is ever going to “revolt” in mass fashion.
May 14th, 2007 at 8:48 amBush has, and is, ruining everything! There is nothing on earth that our little woodenhead president can’t fuck up.
May 14th, 2007 at 9:06 amI can see the headlines now.
Bush travels to Baghdad to visit troops. Generals disarm soldiers for fear of president being fragged.
May 14th, 2007 at 9:09 amNo one seems to care about the reason why we are in Iraq in the first place. Nobody questions why one hundred and some thousand “Black Water” mercenary fighters are there. Who is paying them? Why are they there?Has everyone forgotten the oil companies?
May 14th, 2007 at 9:10 amThe stranglehold that BushCo has on the US is so sinister and all-pervading, that it might only be a coup by senior military - those with some true patriotic integrity left - that has any chance of succeeding.
And even they won’t find it easy.
The common citizenry - many of whom are unreflective sleepwalkers - are not that organised, or weaponised.
May 14th, 2007 at 10:18 amBush is a sick twisted murdering lizard
May 14th, 2007 at 12:37 pmYou ignorant fools IF the military leadership ever committed a coup on this nation you WOULD see a dictatorship. Nationwide martial law internet would be shut down all vehicular and foot traffic would be halted No telephones nor TV or radio except for the new govement to issue statements and dusk to dawn curfews, and food rationing as weel as whatever else they can think of. DO YOU REALLY WANT THAT?
May 14th, 2007 at 12:53 pmThank you Ms.Tucker for your statements concerning the general who is showing real patroitism by not going along with the actions of a madman.
May 14th, 2007 at 12:56 pmWhen will the rest of America WAKE UP and realize that we here in America,
do not have the freedom so often talked about . We are in the beginings of
a POLICE STATE which will get progressively worse . Read the book of Revelation with attention given to chapters 13, 14, 17, 18, and 20-22 .
Call me a religous fanatic if you want to but, we are living in final chapters
of Earth’s history .
Remember when Nixon tried to fire Archibald Cox and a succession of the chain of command in the Justice Department refused until they got down to Bork? That was the Saturday Night Massacre. And that was only for a simple thing like blocking the Watergate BS. Here we are poised on Armageddon and we can’t expect the same resistance from our military generals to refuse to “push the buttons” of death from an out of touch and out of control meglamaniac?
May 14th, 2007 at 1:30 pmGreat, then we deserve what we get for being a nation of sheep!
What goes around comes around, and it’s coming around to the “Decision Maker”, the “Decider”.
May 14th, 2007 at 1:42 pmbush needs to sit down and shut up, along with rove, cheney and rice.
I doubt this will get posted…
What most Americans forget is that America broke Iraq (I am not taking sides on the justification of going to war; I am stating a fact that America broke the status quo in Iraq).
We Americans have a moral obligation to put it back together again (and just as Humpty-Dumpty had many pieces, so does Iraq)…
As a soldier who has been deployed there in the Hell of Fallujah, I saw progress then and continue to see progress now. The Iraqi people desire peace and freedom…and there is a small percentage of radical Iraqis committed to seeing it doesn’t take place (like 1% of the populace).
What is amazing to me is that the reporters on the ground are telling the truth. I find that these stories do not make it to the American public. The stories of reconstuction, the police standing up, the Iraqi Army patrolling neighborhoods, the local people trusting the American soldier. These stories are pushed to the side so the all impressive body count can be reported. I am not diminishing those who sacrifice; I am stating that our media is one and only one sided in its broadcast.
Do I want to stay? No; but I am committed to what is right. I most likely will deploy again; it is for the moral obligation that we created athe mess that I will gladly go…it takes time to find peace (just look at our own history…Revolutionary War too several years; our Civil War took several years; etc.).
A Soldier’s View
May 14th, 2007 at 1:43 pmThere is a solution to this gigantic “government” mess.
Vote for Ron Paul in 2008. He will return the “republic” back to a constitional republic were it belongs.
May 14th, 2007 at 2:00 pmI just want to comment on the few post I have read. Note that this is just my opinion.
To Patriot- Martial law is necessary during situations such as this, otherwise there would be complete panic and the casualty rating would be much higher. The internet, TV, radio, ect should be the least of your worries; if you are truly loyal, you would do whats best for your country. This is the time you have to put your country before yourself.
To Jack Moss- A general should not be dictated by the medals on his uniform. When your superiors get way out of line, it is absolutely necessary to make a stand. Revolting for a just cause is not treason.
I see alot of people talking about impeachment, the problem with that is our government works too slow. By the time the impeachment gets through, Bush’s term will be up. I say we just kick him, and his brown noses, out the door. I hate pen pushers!
May 14th, 2007 at 2:02 pm“The “revolt†MIGHT include some high-profile resignations, but don’t count on anything more than that.”
You are correct, the miltary appuratus in the US is structured to prevent another Patton or MacArthur gaining to much clout. All military personell at all levels of command are transfered every 3-4 years. People are constantly coming in and out of a unit and simply could not build the consensus needed to oppose the administration without being discovered and removed.
It should be noted that the same thing did happen in Hitler’s Germany; a number of generals resigned in protest of Hitler’s policies (General Beck for example). It only made it easier for Hitler to staff the military with officers who supported his policies.
May 14th, 2007 at 2:02 pmThe so called “Generals Revolt” theory is one gigantic YAWN.
Usually if a President is in office and has done something either real or imaginary, then the story goes the Generals and or Admirals are all upset and going to revolt.
During Vietnam there was going to be some big Generals revolt. It never happened. During the Watergate scandel of Nixon there was going to be one. Never happened. During Jimmy Carter, when people figured Jimmy was soft on defense there was going to be one. Never Happened. During the first Bush Presidency back in 1991, there was stories about a Generals and admirals revolt and everybody was chortling about how so called ‘Evil Bush was going to be taken to the cleaners…’ Then in 1994, after Clinton was elected there was going to be some big so called Generals/Admirals revolt immenient military coup over Clintons policy about homosexuals in the military. It never happened. Things kind of died off, and then the tale and story resurfaced in 97-99 with a new reason a new names being connected to the alleged generals and new admirals. By the way during the Clinton years we were also loaded with stories about alleged and supposed October surprise that so called evil Clinton was going to make happen in October of 96, and October of 2000. It didn’t happen either.
By the way during the Clinton Pesidency many people were suggesting that Clinton was evil and a dictatorship. Same old crap thats been around every President since before FDR.
Now in 2007, the so called Generals/Admirals tale has resurfaced AGAIN.
The truth is with two years left in the Bush Presidency the so called and alleged Generals and Admirals are going to howl and complain publicly, but they will take no action, and they do absolutly NOTHING. The internet and some talk radio may be loaded with tale bearers and stories, but is the same old crap, same old stories being recycled and rehashed. Likely it will be a few/some retired guys howling, meaning they already have their retirement check so they will speak out. You will get no high ranking active duty people willing to step forward, and possibly give up THEIR retirement check to howl about Iraq…unless of course they have a private job offer to some defense contractor or special interest group.
Speaking of recycling and reahashing the same old garbage, I predict the next thing we will hear in the 2008 election season, is whispered stories about some alleged October Surprise and how so called evil Bush or evil Cheney is going to take over the country in a military dictatorship, blah blah blah. It’s not a Presidential election without a load of October Surprise theories!!
I would expect that the 2008 election will not be a runaway landslide for either side, and we will have another Floriday/Ohio, i.e. some critical state.
I predict that if a Republican Candidate gets elected, the internet and talk radio will be loaded with tales and stories from some Democrats and various liberal special interest groups of alleged vote fraud, people claiming how the 2008 election was fixed, how evil republican operatives did this or that.
If a Democrat gets elected, the internet and talk radio will be full of tales and stores from some the some Republicans and Conservative special interest groups about alleged vote fraud, how the 2008 election was fixed, how the evil democrative operatives did this or that.
If a Democratic candidate should get elected in 2008 (say Hillary) and some people don’t see the country going the way they like, or the President is not following a foreign policy they like, the stories about a Generals/Admirals revolt will start all over again. Then come the October of the election year, we will hear again whispered tales of October surprise theories and stories.
Likewise if a Republican candidate should get elected in 2008, people will be circulating tales and stores about a Generals/Admirals revolt in 2009 or 10 depending on if these people happen to like the direction the country is doing in.
Thus we see the circle of lies and misinformation come full circle.
So whenever you hear tales of a Generals or Admirals or both revolt, just yawn and move on to the next incredible story, told be the next incredible story teller.
Cheers,
Robert
May 14th, 2007 at 2:27 pmIn October we will see that Ms. Tucker has lied again. Traitor is too kind a word for this woman.
May 14th, 2007 at 2:42 pmAmerica must borrow 2 billion dollars every day from Communist China just to exist, no wonder the journal “Foreign Affairs” calls the American dollar an “Absurdity”, Bush and Cheney pillage, loot and plunder America like a leach.
May 14th, 2007 at 3:57 pmPay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
3 days ago, the tipping point was said to be September.
May 14th, 2007 at 4:13 pmNow, the tipping point has been moved yet again, till
into 1st quarter 08. The day of reckoning keeps being
put off until that elusive “someday” finally arrives. So
its “stay the course” and hope for the best. While the
Iraq house burns down around us. The Iraqi’s have
officially asked us to leave, with no ambiguity. Of course
our glorious Senator’s went right out on the Sunday
circuit with stacks of new talking points explaining what
the Iraqi government really meant to say.
A “revolt” !!!!????? By the Generals!
What is this silly, ignorant woman talking about? No wonder her newspaper is such a mediocrity!
If any such generals exist (which I doubt) they need to be fired RIGHT NOW–in the month of May–and never mind waiting until September. If they pull any shit then, they should be taken out and shot, because staging a “revolt” in a time of war is traitorous and a capital offense.
May 14th, 2007 at 4:44 pmDream on.
May 14th, 2007 at 5:38 pmYou mean like a Second American Revolution? A Coup by the military until the Government goes back to the GD (Greatly Designed) piece of paper? The tree of liberty must from time to time be refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure ? Thomas Jefferson, Letter to William Smith [November 13, 1787] Shalom. jfele@aol.com
May 14th, 2007 at 6:27 pmDusk to dawn curfews, LOL. I don’t think that one’s gonna fly.
Who’s gonna be enforcing all this, and what’s to stop us from building our own networks. You seems to imply the American people are helpless and dependent on the federal government, LOL. Look at Katrina.
May 14th, 2007 at 6:38 pmMost of us here agree the frat boy chimp is the worst thing that has ever happened to America. Notice how fast the neo-nazi cons wormed their way into the Whore House? It was all by the designs of corrupt men, namely such as Chaney and Rove.
May 14th, 2007 at 7:26 pmIt should start with the impeachment of 5 deferment Dick and then go after the shrub. Then it will be time to thoroughly clean and fumigate the Whore House to make it livable. Yes, there are a lot of cockroaches, rats and other vermin that now infest the building, but they can be exterminated……by whatever means necessary.
To hell with that whoring bitch Pelosi. Impeachment is now back on the table and I don’t care what she had to do to get that job whether it was on her knees or her back we need to put pressure on congress to remove her as well.
If all that fails, then “WE the People” must take matters into our own hands. Maybe a million people marching down Pennsylvainia Ave. fully armed.
Our troops are fighting two wars, first with the enemy then with the VA after they get hurt! All the while Haliburton, KBR, TRW, Raytheon, Hughs, Boeing, Lockheed, Blackwater USA and the other Military Industrial Complex are raking in the big profits. It does not really matter if a Martial Law/Police State takes over or the Patriot Law 3 kicks in because either will kick off the Second American Revolution and it will be fought using the book the “Turner Diaries” minus the racism as it’s guide book. Shalom!
May 14th, 2007 at 7:49 pmI have always told my friends.
If we wish to see this counrty great again we need our Great military leaders to take it back from these traitors in the capitol who do not care about this country or it’s people.
The military are just like the rest of us in thier eyes, “Peons”. I believe thier lies and pushing us around are near an end. So I say to all Great Generals, Admirals, Majors, Captains, Lieutenants and Privates. Who are the only true people to stand behind you?
Yes it is us who value your integrity and honor your abilities,we the real American People. Help us take back this great country and stop wasting your time listening to fools who couldn’t care less about you.
Your actions mean more to us than thier words.
I hope many in the military are able to read this comment. Bless you Thank you!!!

May 14th, 2007 at 9:05 pmBushco Inc. fired federal prosecuters to protect political cronies who were under investigation. Don’t be fooled again. Impeachment is the only way to take back control. Contact your representative now an insist on it.
May 14th, 2007 at 11:52 pmCaptains are ahead of the higher brass on this.

May 15th, 2007 at 1:33 amPost 93 AND 94 your total neocon skum …I’d kick the living shit out of both of you cowards if given the chance. Go F%*k off! All I can say for all the real patriots out there is check out http://www.ronpaul2008.com or Ron Paul revolution. and by the way it’s your neo con Bush who’s put our Marines on trial for doing the job they were trained to do. It’s you’re neo-con who has given Iran more power they could ever dream of. It’s you neo-con who’s bankrupt and tanked our dollar. May 15th, 2007 at 12:33 pmYou know Hitler did not listen to his generals either
May 15th, 2007 at 1:32 pmThere was retired general who was interviewed by Alex Jones who said something similar. He said there were active duty who have already met and decided that there was a point at which they would not go along with the destruction of the United States.
These are dangerous times. A coup could re-establish Constitutional government, or put us in a situation of absolute despotism. This is what happens when the People get lazy, and fail to guard their liberties, as the Founders warned they must. Now, we have a government out of control, and it’s a matter of whose side the majority of the military is on. Scary shit.
What’s at stake is MUCH more than the war. It’s Constitutional government.
May 15th, 2007 at 2:41 pmYour all dumb in the fact that you think you can lead this country any better than our current leader George W. Bush. Your all just dumbasses
May 15th, 2007 at 6:10 pmIf the surge continues in 2008 the generals will pass a non-binding resolution to pass further non-binding resolutions.
What a bunch of gutless cowards. They know the plan is fubar but won’t do anything about it.
May 15th, 2007 at 6:11 pmGod bless our American Constitution! P.S. Rev. Jerry Falwell is no longer with us. let us now pray for Peace with Iran in his memory. Amen! Shalom.

May 15th, 2007 at 11:46 pmSo, “The american soldiers are revolting”, well, most of the world is well aware of that fact!
May 16th, 2007 at 3:33 amThe truth is, and even the generals know it so, is that the end has come.
$5 million tanks blown apart at the seams by $50 roadside bombs.
Follow the buck.
Why do morons STILL defend this administration? Look at the track record. Lied to about WMD. Osama Bin Laden all but forgotten about. Iraq is a disaster. The financial state of the country is totally fucked up. More civil rights lost than EVER before. International standing and sympathy shot to hell. Yet people still defend this piece of crap?
