Cpl. Cloy Richards, who earlier this month attempted suicide, is listed by the military as “80-percent combat disabled,” as he previously “punched out all his windows and cut major arteries,” has knee and arm injuries, suffers from traumatic brain injury, and has pending claim for post-traumatic stress disorder. Nevertheless, Richards now “faces the possibility of a third deployment to Iraq.”
What is wrong with this picture? This is what we’ve come to. So desperate for fodder that they’ll send guys like this back into the War Zone.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:16 pmIMPEACH, NOW!
They’re sending this guy back because all the chickenhawk Repuke trolls in here refuse to sign up and go to Iraq.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:18 pmWhy does the Army hate this soldier?

May 15th, 2007 at 5:22 pmI think what Bush is saying is that we need more of our own crazy mofo’s in Iraq to help the surge. It would be nice to see this one on the evening news.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:23 pmI guess some some people support the troops just enough to get them back up on their feet and back into the meat grinder.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:24 pmThis is just sick.
Impeach (p)Resident Idiot
Let your Congressional representatives know how you feel about Impeachment by sending them an ImpeachMINT!.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:26 pmThe Commander-in-Chief is running the US Military into the ground. In a few months there won’t be one of the 150,000 troops serving who will be fit for active service due to the 1000-yard stare. Otherwise known as Combat Stress Reaction and considered a symptom of PTSD. Bush has invoked the “Catch-22″ option once too often and the troops are slowly becoming certifiable. And with nothing in the way of treatment awaiting them, they’ll have to build prisons just to house them after the returning heroes have ‘acted out’ their nightmares.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:27 pmThis could be the first scene in “Apackoflies Now”
May 15th, 2007 at 5:28 pmShameful.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:31 pmUB-are these available for purchase?I’d really like to support the US economy….
May 15th, 2007 at 5:31 pmhmmmmm…minty fresh Democray? I like it!!!
May 15th, 2007 at 5:34 pmThere are still moments when this administration just leaves you stunned at how completely screwed-up it really is. Mostly when innocents are forced to pay the price for their insanity.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:36 pmoops…
May 15th, 2007 at 5:37 pm:D
This is the kind of soldier that we need in Iraq to fight these terrorist that kidnapp our soldiers.
Amazing that TP and Liberals are more worried about this than the soldiers that were kidnapped by the terrorist.
stupid Liberals, stupid, stupid, stupid….
May 15th, 2007 at 5:38 pmHey, you go to war with the soldiers you have, not the soldiers you want.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:38 pmFreedom is on the march!
May 15th, 2007 at 5:39 pmI think Bill Clinton redeployed injured depressed and suicidal soldiers back to Iraqnam also….so whats the issue??
May 15th, 2007 at 5:41 pm/snark
Much more of this, and Chimpy will have a full-scale mutiny on his hands.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:41 pmFor the un-initiated here, Col. stands for Colonel. This is one rank below Brigadier General. A Colonel usually commands a brigade, which when combined with attachments (to form a Task Force) is about 5000 soldiers.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:41 pmWhy isn’t the Repuke troll in Iraq?
Chickenhawk.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:41 pmAs has been discussed previously with regards to the care of disabled veterans, it was postulated that a solution to caring for veterans was to keep re-deploying them, in the hopes they would die first.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:41 pmThis looks like a classic example.
#16
Uh oh, sounds like that GOP bot is defect, it was sputtering out towards the end. Better replace it, or better yet, get rid of it!
May 15th, 2007 at 5:42 pmActually, TP made a typo. The guy is a CPL not a COL.
A Corporal. But it is still wrong to send him back to Iraq.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:44 pmThis is the kind of soldier that we need in Iraq to fight these terrorist that kidnapp our soldiers.

More proof that you are a sick demented excuse for a human being.
Not that we needed more proof of that………
May 15th, 2007 at 5:44 pmWho should we contact to raise hell about this travesty…the VA, our Senators and Representatives?? What route would be effective?
Bush probably figures it’s safer to keep veterans over there, so they don’t come after him over here!!
May 15th, 2007 at 5:44 pmThis is a terrible story, but why not report it accurately? The guy’s a corporal, not a colonel.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:44 pmI feel so very deeply for these men and women who are put in such despicable situations, with no regards to their well being – their humanity – and put their lives in harm’s way, simply because an egotistical a$$hole wants to best “Daddy”.
TBI’s are horrendous. It changes a person. Their personality. Their ability to reason. To function in society.
To claim that that soldier is only 80% disabled is an outrage.
America is no longer the shining example it used to be.
Our current gvt. acts more like a dictatorship.
Absolutely unacceptable.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:44 pmSad. Too bad the dems are holding back the funding for fresh troops by refusing to pass an acceptable bill.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:46 pmUnbelievable, here’s another bumpersticker for your collection -

May 15th, 2007 at 5:49 pmOnce one person reports a typo (humans do make mistakes folks), do so many others have to repeat and criticize it as if it was some intention to mislead? Sheesh…

May 15th, 2007 at 5:52 pmIt figures the troll would try to blame this on the Dems.
Chimpy vetoed the supplemental, dumbass.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:53 pmStupid Repuke troll thinks the supplemental will give Chimpy “fresh troops”.
Dream on troll. The only way Chimpy is getting more troops is a draft.
May 15th, 2007 at 5:54 pmUnB. 3) and 8) are great.

May 15th, 2007 at 6:06 pmIt’s like Martin Sheen punching the mirror after a drunken binge in “Apocalypse Now”, and yet he was called up for a mission. They don’t care about your personal problems, the question is: can you kill for us?

Comment by BottomBoy ”
Sorry bottomboy. You haven’t been listening. There are no fresh troops to send. The only way the Chimp is able to do this “surge” is by not allowing the men and women who are already there to come home. There are no troops left to replace them. And, the bill the Democrats are now working on has nothing to do with the current funding of the war. The Pentagon has said that they have enough money to keep going through June. Is the Pentagon lying?
May 15th, 2007 at 6:11 pmThis military family has concluded that REPUBLICANS are true MURDERERS of our USA Troops. They are killing these soldiers. None of you might have noticed but each week now at least 1 or 2 soldiers takes his life in Iraq. These are true facts. There are more attempts per base but they are caught ans stopped.
I blame the Republicans for these extensions that is pushing the young to kill themselfs in Iraq.
Republicans are MURDERERS!

Unbelievable, a lot of those bumperstickers (also t-shirts, magnets, etc) are available at http://www.northernsun.com. Wayne and I have several from there.

I personally print them out on a HP D7160 printer on bumper sticker paper and cover them with SelfSeal 3 mil clear laminate sheets. They last about nine months in the Florida sun. I have three that are not on UB’s list:
May 15th, 2007 at 6:16 pm1) Damn Good Liar (With photo).
2) Better a Bleeding Heart Than One At All
3) I Never Voted 4 Bush

May 15th, 2007 at 6:21 pmMaybe he will feel it, just as our soldiers do.

This is simply another reason for military personnel to realize that they are being used as cannon fodder for their government. It is also another reason for veterans groups like Veterans for Peace to continue handing out to these soldiers copies of the documentary Sir! No Sir! which chronicled military personnel telling the military NO at the time of the Vietnam War. David Cortright also wrote about this in his classic work Soldiers in Revolt-GI Resistance During the Vietnam War. It is long past the point that those in the military acknowledge that they are dying and returning to this country maimed and crippled not for their country but for the lies that they are being fed by their less than honest government.
May 15th, 2007 at 6:22 pmWhy don’t they just redeploy all the maimed soldiers too? Those that have lost limbs. Shoot, they can use crutches. Who needs two arms to shoot a rifle?
This administration has hit an all time low! 0% approval rating based on my poll of myself.

Why aren’t you over there fighting? Maybe your mental illness has disqualified you? But wait, that doesn’t seem to be a viable reason according to this post.

This poster needs a cup of blood delivered to his home. Just track him down via IP address, then go to provider to pretend for info. Then ship.
May 15th, 2007 at 6:34 pmKill the infirmed off rather than pay years of disability….. Could this be the mind set of the administration? Of course.
May 15th, 2007 at 7:07 pmAnother good bumper sticker sight is…Evolve Fish.com…I have been buying from them for quite awhile and friend’s know which one’s I like and send them to me as gift’s…Blessings
May 15th, 2007 at 7:11 pmUnfortunately, they are all under a death sentence.
May 15th, 2007 at 7:13 pmPretty soon they’ll have to buy their own body bags ’cause there’s not enough cash to go around – it’s all spent on photo-ops for our dear leader and his friends and lawyers. Now they’re censoring all links to the outside by our soldiers and honest reporters so that we won’t know what’s going on.
Unbelievable at #4
The idea for a bumper sticker at #23 is especially appropriate and relevant. The U.S. did not learn the lesson of Korea and invaded Vietnam. It set aside the debacle of Vietnam and, thirty years later, stupidly proceeded to illegally invade and occupy Iraq, all for imperial hubris and gain. If that bumper sticker were available, I might put it on my car [if I could squeeze it among the other bumper stickers].
May 15th, 2007 at 7:33 pmdaily news from iraq
http://iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/tiki-index.php
May 15th, 2007 at 9:54 pmVictory is definitely within our grasp with such able-bodied soldiers like this one.
This incident points to the fact how desperate Bush is. I knew Bush was desperate, but I didn’t think he was this desperate. My heart goes out to this soldier.
What’s really sad is that we have fit, able-bodied, muscular, toned men like Jeff Gannon parading around in soldiers’ uninforms and boots who won’t spend a minute, an hour, a day, a month, or a year in Iraq. Yet, we’re sending unfit soldiers, with biceps much, much, much less than 18 inches, to actually do the real dirty work.
Apparently Jeff Gannon gets a thrill wearing soldiers’ uniforms and army boots in the Dupont Circle area of Washington, but that’s where it stops. Why can’t Jeff Gannon have the same thrill wearing soldiers’ uniforms and army boots in Iraq?
May 15th, 2007 at 10:59 pmThis is terrible. Does anyone know what we can do to stand up for this abused soldier?
May 16th, 2007 at 1:05 amI am the Mother of this Marine and they got the story wrong. He was to report in on March 24, but as a result of my activism (See Website GrassrootsAmerica4us.org) they stopped his redeployment, gave him his disability papers, and he is now eligible for treatment after a year and a half fight with the VA.
May 16th, 2007 at 2:07 amThe incident with the windows was a result of a TBI incident. Not a suicide attempt.
Tina Richards
It appears this soldier is in a district with all republican leadership. Write a letter to Obama, Clinton and Dodd demanding an investigation into this soldier. Because they are running for President they will act on the info. It happened to another soldier and he was removed from Iraq, and placed in medical care.
Write a letter now.
