“President George W. Bush met privately with Focus on the Family Founder and Chairman James Dobson and approximately a dozen Christian right leaders last week to rally support for his policies on Iraq, Iran and the so-called ‘war on terror.’”
“I was invited to go to Washington DC to meet with President Bush in the White House along with 12 or 13 other leaders of the pro-family movement,” Dobson disclosed on his radio program Monday. “And the topic of the discussion that day was Iraq, Iran and international terrorism. And we were together for 90 minutes and it was very enlightening and in some ways disturbing too.” [...]
“You know, the President seems to me does understand this, as I told you from that meeting I had with him the other day, but even there it feels like somebody ought to be standing up and saying, ‘We are being threatened and we are going to meet this with force — whatever’s necessary.’”
Aren’t they all good Christians, supporting a never-ending war with dead civilians and our kids coming home in boxes?
Who would Jesus napalm?
May 15th, 2007 at 10:30 amWhere else can he turn. He has almost nothing left. Of course wrapped in his bubble he fails to recognize that we’re on to there lies.
Rethugs: Liars and hypocrites every one.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:30 amWTF? What’s next, the Crusades, Part II?
May 15th, 2007 at 10:30 amThis must be where Bush gets his foreign policy advice. Nice to know he listens to somebody….even if it’s a bunch of frickin’ crazies.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:30 amIn this nutjob’s delusional world, exactly who or what is threatening us and how are they doing it?
May 15th, 2007 at 10:30 amThe buck stopped with Harry Truman over Hiroshima too.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:30 amFor the record, when Jesus returns, it’s going to be WORSE than napalm for unbelievers.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:31 amSure. When all else fails, you can always count on the bible-thumpers to go spread the Word of Bush in their churches. Lap it up, sheeple.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:31 am“You know, the President seems to me does understand this, as I told you from that meeting I had with him the other day, but even there it feels like somebody ought to be standing up and saying, ‘We are being threatened and we are going to meet this with force — whatever’s necessary.’â€
Kind of hard to understand exactly what he’s trying to say, no wonder his congregation throws its hands in the air and cries, “Help me, Jesus!”
May 15th, 2007 at 10:32 amI still do not understand how the “pro-life” party can be so all inclusively pro-death. Hypocritical self-righteous bastards. I wish Dobson had some of his family in Iraqnam. I wonder what a cheerleader for death he’d be then.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:33 amit was very enlightening and in some ways disturbing too
GDumbya has apparently lost his direct connection to God and must resort to channelling through Dobson.
I don’t find anything enlightening about that . . . but it sure is disturbing. Could this be what GDumbya means when he says “I will listen to the Generals on the ground”?
May 15th, 2007 at 10:33 amNothing like the interferrence of religion into government and politics. Bush doesn’t know the difference, never has – never will.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:33 amBush and the Christian Talibans. So beneath contempt. Malevolent Christian evildoers.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:34 amWhy? What’s the point of meeting with the religious right about Iraq or Iran?
May 15th, 2007 at 10:39 amFor the record, when Jesus returns, it’s going to be WORSE than napalm for unbelievers.
Comment by Jake — May 15, 2007 @ 10:31 am
Are you serious? You believe that some god or gods is going to return to earth and enact painful measures against people simply because they used their brain and concluded they didn’t exist? That is absolutely cruel!! The fact that you believe this crap is pretty weird too.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:39 amI seem to recall that Bush refused to meet with more moderate and left-leaning religious leaders who were calling for caution and diplomacy rather than military incursion in the run up to the war on Iraq. So this meeting is no surprise. Bush still has Laura, Barney, and Dobson as the “canine conservatives” on his side.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:40 am“For the record, when Jesus returns, it’s going to be WORSE than napalm for unbelievers.”
So Jake the Repuke is a Religious Reich fascist too. He wants everybody to burn in hell. What a nice Christian sentiment.
Jake, you are so full of shit, it is coming out of your nose and ears.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:41 amExactly Jake. These godhating librals will die in shame for their wanting of peace in te land that isn’t meant to be peaceful. We did the Iraqis a favor in showing them christianity, so they don’t have to join the evil secularist librals.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:42 am“I was invited to go to Washington DC to meet with President Bush in the White House along with 12 or 13 other leaders of the pro-family movement,†-James Dipshit Dobson
WTF is the pro-family movement? Is it anything like a bowel movement? Something stinks here. Does anyone know of an ‘anti-family’ movement, other than the fact we’re robbing young people of any chance at creating a family for themselves?
Dobson, you didn’t ‘have time’ to resurrect Ted Haggard, but you have time to spin facts with Bushie. This alone validates you as a hypocrite, a false messenger and perhaps a Bush criminal, along with most of the Justice Dept.
Congratulations! You’re TP’s Co-Prick of the Year.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:43 am(Jakeoff is our other winner (whiner).
Isn’t Dobson the one that encouraged fathers take showers with their sons?
May 15th, 2007 at 10:44 amThe first to get judged will be Dobson and the rest of the leaders of the Religious Right. I am Jesus, so I know.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:45 amYes, Dobson is the dad who took showers with his sons and recommended it to everybody.
He used to beat his kids regularly and recommended that too.
Dobson was once accused of child abuse for beating his kids.
He’s a real piece of shit and everybody here in Colorado knows it.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:46 am#14 . Zooey. They are the only people other than troops in a military base, who will still listen to the lying little prick. He needs to get his ration of photo-ops in.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:46 amWe’re being threatened by republican scum.
May 15th, 2007 at 10:51 amGo to hell jake you lying phoney veteran, phoney christian chickenhawk coward.
Am I the only one whose wondering if these idiots are brainstorming how they can all do their part to help bring about the rapture??
May 15th, 2007 at 10:51 amDobson will be disappointed if Bush doesn’t bring him The End of Times.

I’m so sick of the whole thing. This country is dying, and the Commander Guy is meeting with the Magical Sky Fairy people.

Nothing, fundamentalists are fundamentalists.

Nothing.
But christians always have the “moral high ground” because they’re…..f*cking christians.
May 15th, 2007 at 11:22 amOnce again Bush is taking advice from those who obviously have the most expertise in the matter. I mean really, Focus on the Family pro-lifers and death by illegal and unethical war go hand in hand, right? Right???
May 15th, 2007 at 11:27 amPLEASE PELOSI, PLEASE STOP BUSH. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP HIM IS TO IMPEACH HIM. IF YOU KNEW IT MEANT A WAR WITH IRAN AND NUCLEAR INVOLVEMENT BY TAKING IMPEACHMENT OFF THE TABLE WOULD YOU STILL HAVE DONE IT. IMPEACH HIM BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE PLEASE. ITS NOT REPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT TO IMPEACH, IT’S AMERICAN. THE COUNTRY BACKS YOU AND MORE WILL COME ON BOARD AS MORE IS REVEALED. HE’S BECOME TOO DANGEROUS. DON’T TAKE A CHANCE. IMPEACH BUSH AND CHENEY NOW.
May 15th, 2007 at 11:28 amThe Commander Guy gets advise and counsel from fundie bigots. Same old, same old.
May 15th, 2007 at 11:29 amJesus is going to be very angry…at the whack job fundamentalists. Blessed are the PEACEMAKERS, not warmongers. My favorite political cartoon is a picture of Jesus driving a VW hippy van with peace signs, what would Jesus drive?
I successfully lobbied my preacher to not include Dobson’s Focus on the Family newsletters in the bulletin because of his political leanings and nutjob “take a shower with your boys so they can see you have a pee pee, too” position. Besides, we’re Presbyterian…and they’re…not.

This reminds me of a political cartoon I saw in the Washington Post not more than a couple days after 9/11. The cartoon was of two panes. The left pane was a drawing of Osama bin Forgotten (before Bush decided he had other priorities) and the right pane was of the porcine “christian” Jerry Falwell. The caption read “Our radical religious fundamentalists are better than your radical religious fundamentalists”.
I guess the bottom line is that if they can spew anything and put it in the name of the christian “god” then its ok. But if something is said in the name of the muslim “god” then its radical fundamentalism.
May 15th, 2007 at 11:34 amFor the RECORD,
I am a BLASPHEMER and an UNBELIEVER, though I tell everyone I’m a “christian”, and the Dobson-azzholes BELIEVE ME… SUCKERS!!!
And I WILL BURN IN HELL, along with HYPOCRITES like Dobson, Falwell, and Robertson.
See YOU in hell, fellow “christians” (cause I’LL be THERE),

More evidence that the leaders of the ‘religious right’ have no clue what real morality truly is.
May 15th, 2007 at 11:37 amJake,
“For the record, when Jesus returns, it’s going to be WORSE than napalm for unbelievers.”
And when Poseidon returns, he’ll make the hurricanes really bad on non-believers.
And when Elvis returns, he’ll throw the greatest concert ever. But only for believers.
May 15th, 2007 at 11:41 amClearly, Dobson and his ilk who met with W are complete retards, as is anyone who listens to an idiot Commander in Chief who hasn’t yet gotten one decision right regarding Iraq
But hey, if Dobson and the other Taliban wannabes wish to keep being willfully jerked around by the huckster known as W, that’s their God Given right to be as led around by the nose as any of the other sheeple, or W by Usama bin Laden
May 15th, 2007 at 11:41 amMust be finalizing plans to bomb Iran. Bush is making sure the pro-family 25% American Talibani’s are on board. I pity the poor bastard who’ll be elected next President….he or she is going to be left a huge friggen mess to clean up.
May 15th, 2007 at 11:42 amThis is insane. Dobson is on record as thinking Gog & Persia (Iran) will attack Israel along with Egypt and Libya. This is all based, not of Foreign Policy or historical dynamics, but Biblical prophecy as revealed in the Book of Revelations.
Now, evangelical interpretations of Revelations have been batting .000 and that’s about as good as it gets. Of course, it’s the usual supermarket tabloid crowd that buys this crap. Nostradamus keeps making ‘fresh’ predictions every New Year and the same verses in his work and the Bible are recycled again and again. (Nothing ever seems to be proven to these guys. And wrong predictions never get them benched.)
Dear me, this is as bad as learning that Ron & Nancy Reagan consulted an astrologer to decide on matters of State. This guys are making burnt offerings and swinging the incense and splashing the holy water to determine when –not if– the US will go to war with Iran. (Hmmm. Didn’t Henry II say “Will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?” Why does that come to mind?)
These idiots think that Ahmadinejad is their nutty counterpart in some bizarre Hollywood-style conflict between Christ and Anti-Christ. (Casting yet to be determined.) They think they are fulfilling God’s Foreign Policy by protecting and promoting the idea of a Greater Israel. And I’m not talking about guaranteeing Israel’s right to exist, but actually promoting the expansion of Israel to its former Biblical glory and borders.
Yes, it’s true. This is supposed to trigger the Second Coming. But other events were supposed to trigger it as well. And it didn’t happen. I can’t help thinking Jame Dobson leads a hapless Cargo Cult. They think by recreating the time of Holy Kingdom, he will come. (Personally, I think the NY Yankees of 1927 is just as likely to return.)
This is how the Decider decides, is it? He ignores the Generals, he ignores the diplomats, he ignores the UN, he ignores Congress, he ignores the American people and, instead, listens to some nasal-droning bigot who is living in some 1950s fantasy.
May 15th, 2007 at 11:52 amand, after the meeting, they all went to a gay bar and evangelized some more.

May 15th, 2007 at 12:24 pmJake,
You represent yourself as a Christian, maybe you could answer a question that has been bugging me.
Did Jesus’ shit stink?
I know mine does, and if Jesus’ did too, maybe he was just a human like the rest of us. Maybe then we should make decisions based on facts and reality, not some mythological unicorns or Christs or fairies.
May 15th, 2007 at 12:24 pmAnd after their gay bar binge was brought to light, they blamed it on the booze, went into rehab, and got cured of their gayness. Peraise his Holy Naeeme!!!
May 15th, 2007 at 12:27 pmThis is such a funny story considering that PlanetOut.com (a gay news reporting site) has a story of how the Iranians arrested nearly 90 people at a birthday party, 80 of whom are “suspected” to be gay. Among those arrested were the host’s PARENTS.
Story at http://www.planetout.com/news/article.html?2007/05/14/4
Why the far-right anti-gay bigots masquerading as Christians have so many problems with the anti-gay bigots running things in Baghdad and Teheran simply eludes me when none of them want gays to be seen in public.
As for J Scott, I hope that comment about showing the Iraqis Christianity was a piece of sarcasm. Otherwise, I feel the need to point out that Christians were living in the area we now call Iraq since at least the 2nd Century CE. Just because Paul spent all his time preaching to the Greeks in Greece and Asia Minor (with those ministries getting their own books in the Bible) doesn’t mean that Christian communities weren’t found in areas further east. (Granted, since most of the Iraqi Christians were Eastern Rite and Orthodox Christians that probably isn’t good enough for the Dobsonites, Robinsonians or Falwellians who need all Christians to be of their particular branch.)

You will get attacked in your own country by maybe nerve gas or something
why not talk and make friends
Nothing is acheived by viloence
May 15th, 2007 at 1:19 pmI’m BACK. And I am PISSED!
May 15th, 2007 at 1:25 pmDobson described Bush as “upbeat and determined and convinced, adding, “I wish the American people could have sat in on that meeting we had.â€
I sure as hell would have liked to sit in on that meeting….
May 15th, 2007 at 1:38 pmWho stole Jesus’ words, “You have heard that it was said, `You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies…” out of Dobson’s Bible?
May 15th, 2007 at 1:40 pmThe fact that such a meeting took place and was covered in the press indicates that this administration is completely out of control. With various factions in the middle east already accusing the U.S. of conducting a “holy war” with Islam, having a group of Fundamental Christans discuss foreign policy with Bush shows how little these people understand what is really going on.
