Pentagon promotes banned YouTube.»

As of yesterday, soldiers are banned from accessing MySpace, YouTube, and 11 other sites. Yet as IraqSlogger points out, “the weekly electronic newsletter of the US-led Multi-National Forces-Iraq (MNF-I) today makes a banner appeal for US forces and others to watch MNF-I’s new YouTube channel”:

The Pentagon’s YouTube efforts are meant “to help portray U.S. combat efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan in a favorable light.”

UPDATE: Sen. John Warner (R-VA) today said that he will investigate the Pentagon’s decision. “Believe me, I am going to jump on that like a June bug right now,” said Warner, a member of the Armed Services Committee. “I’ve got a call into the Pentagon saying, ‘Hey guys, what is the rationale?‘”

Pentagon lies and propaganda. What else is new?

  2. xenon Says:

Will somebody tell me just how one portrays a war that never should have been waged in a “favourable light?”

  3. Tom3 Says:

The Pentagon is still covering up Camp Falcon.

Last October, it was attacked and 300 US Soldiers were killed, plus 100 Iraqis. Journalists saw ambulances in long lines.

Last time terrorists killed 300 Americans in one blast, we left Beirut.

That’s why the Pentagon is covering this up.

‘Hey guys, what is the rationale?‘”

And the Bush administration will send over Joe Pesci to tell Warner,”I got your rationale right here. What you gunna do ’bout it?”

  5. BottomBoy Says:

Tom3: Why did you tone down your conspiracy theory? Were you afraid that the rest of the story (tactical nukes going off) would be too over the top for this blog?

A Call for a Full Accounting of Camp Falcon Attack in Iraq

Hmm, I wonder if renewed interest in the above contributed to the squashing of videos and pictures of carnage, explosions and bombings in Iraq.

  9. Jim Burke Says:

I still wonder, with so many of our troups over there, who is protecting us here? When will we be liberated?

Sure you are Warner…Full of hot air

    favorable light?????

Does favorable light mean a made up story about Jessica Lynch and Tillman, rubber turkeys, cod piece in pants under a sign ‘Mission Accomplished’, hiding the dead coming home, the hype and excitement of ‘Shock and Awe’ and one phucking LIE after another?

  12. Impeach NOW Says:

Actually the sudden quashing of news leaking out of that hellhole is nothing new.
Maybe what they’re planning is a convincing photo-op of our dear leader riding a big white horse into battle, you know, leading the charge.
Or maybe this is the start of a nice swift scorched-earth initiative, you know, like those amazing military pilots like bush and mccain have practiced time and again with bombs, rockets, missiles, napalm, etc. without any regard to the consequences to civilians or our own troops. Afterall, they were just too far away and moving too fast to even notice or care. Their conscience remains pure and clear.

  13. leftcoast Says:

The action of the pentagon to block myspace and youtube would seem to go along with the recent declaration from them that no congresional testimony may be given by service members (unless subpeoned) and the testimony cannot be recorded.
Paranoia is the first sign of a mind that knows it has done wrong.

Announcement that there is no room in the military for liberals, because all the young college republicans have taken all the quotas?

  15. Liberty Lover Says:

Yep, if that extension from 12 to 15 months deployment didn’t raise your morale… this sure will.

Camp Falcon site of a huge Uranium 238 ammo fire. the tactical nuke stuff is dis info. The few huge blasts on the site on the 11 of Oct were probably to limit damage and snuff as many fires as possible. If 300 did die then the RAD’s of that fire were probably to blame. if that came out the WHOLE theater would empty over night if they knew they were living in UO2 contaminated camps and bases. How many Welders does this camp falcon go through a year. A hole ton i bet. I saw the fires live on CNN ONCE for two minutes before they edited the color temps of the live feeds to hide the true temperatures of the debris on video and suspect that the Government is hiding the Whole affair and letting the contamination to continue in the confusion.
