Congress invites Rush Limbaugh to speak.

rushconletter.gif Right- wing radio host Rush Limbaugh recently received an invitation from Congress to speak at the 2007 Summer Intern Lecture Series. The letter states that the lecture series is specifically “for interns to hear prominent members of government speak about their personal experiences in public services.” Rush said he plans to “ponder this invitation” and sarcastically remarked, “Do you realize what a golden opportunity this would be for me to have access to these young skulls full of mush and to go up there and just give them our agenda here, folks, of things that we talk about each and every day?” (Read the full letter HERE.)

Digg It!

  1. john o. says:

Rush is actually a pretty good selection if you need someone who can identify with those whose heads are “full of mush.”

  2. gorn by any other name says:

A golden opportunity for him to use his ED drugs.

    Ohhhhh….. donuts….. ohhhhh…. interns….

  3. Pete Bogs says:

perhaps DiFi meant this in an ironic way?

  4. Karim says:

Since when is Mr. Piggy a prominent member of government?

  5. dropkick says:

changing heads full of mush to heads full of rush. Is there a difference?

  6. Daryll says:

Rush can give alot of insight to these future public servants/professionals.

  7. Zooey says:

    What the F*CK!?

That moron is not a “prominent member of government,” and has no personal experiences in public service of which I am aware.

  8. rfinca says:

    Who else was invited?

  9. kelso says:

The letter says, “Prominent members of Government”.

Rush isn’t a member of Government.

  10. TripMaster Monkey says:

Methinks Congress wants to use Rush as a cautionary tale. ^_^

  11. Sharon says:

Now I know They have gone bonker’s…Why on earth would any sane person want this piece of trash to speek to the younger generation..Geees it just keep’s getting more bizarre by the day…Blessings

  12. Chris says:

I think this is a good opportunity for the pompous ass to have a Don Imus-like meltdown in a very public forum.

  13. dorothy says:

At last! They are finally admitting he is an actual member of the government.

  14. Kiacyclic says:

ahhh Rush? It isn’t the “young skulls” that will have the “mush” in them in that meeting.

  15. raynman says:

I’m wondering if the interns that will be receiving this ‘information’ are carryovers from the preceding Congress. If this is true, then we all know that these interns are probably already card carrying dittoheads because political affiliation was definitely a factor when these interns were selected by the previous Congress.

  16. And You Thought REAGAN Was Stupid says:

I wonder if Rush will explain how to purchase drugs illegally? He did that, didn’t he? Yes. Yes he did.

  17. Tundra says:

    What the F*CK!?

That moron is not a “prominent member of government,” and has no personal experiences in public service of which I am aware.

    Comment by Zooey — May 16, 2007 @ 11:16 am

Well when you have a democratic lead congress you get off the wall things like this. Makes about as much sense as half the bills they will be passing.

    :)

  18. gummitch says:

Feinstein signed this?!!! That tears it. I’m going to write her a very nasty letter.

This is the sort of crap I would have expected prior to November 2006 but now? Disgusting.

  19. wonderland says:

    prepare the tar and feathers.

  20. Sharon says:

Oh, I get it…They want some one to represent a Foley side of thing’s but not Foley himself, right.?…Blessings

  21. david says:

So, I take this was the Republican pick? I suppose actual GOP “prominent members of government” were facing indictment or criminal investigation.

I’m sure Rush would love to get his hands on a few interns. They could pop a few oxycontins and dream about a world of ditto heads.

  22. heyzeus says:

Rush can give alot of insight to these future public servants/professionals.

    Comment by Daryll — May 16, 2007 @ 11:16 am

The DC madam will be happy to pay Flush for the list of future pubic servants and professionals.

  23. Kiki says:

Maybe they meant to send it to Karl Rove instead? I know I can’t tell fat, pasty morons apart.

    Comment by Tundra — May 16, 2007 @ 11:23 am

Where’s Squeegy? I’d rather have him here. :P

  25. DM says:

Why don’t I find any listing of Rush at http://www.washingtonspeakers.com/? Sounds like crap to me.

  26. klyde says:

My system won’t allow me to access the letter. Who sent the invitation?

  27. Fools on the Hill says:

Said mush brain would have opportunity to talk mush. Yeah, that pretty much sums up his show.

  28. Shane says:

Rush probably inserted his own name on somebody elses invitation.

  29. Patrick1 says:

The great one should speak truth to power!!

  30. K says:

Who’s responsible for this travesty? Although the letter of invitation was sent out over the signatures of the Democratic chairwomen of the relevant committees, the obvious place to start looking is among their Republican members.

Republican members of Committee on House Administration are: Vernon Ehlers, MI-3 (ranking member), Dan Lungren, CA-3, & Kevin McCarthy, CA-22.

Republican members of the Senate Committee on Rules & Administration are: Robert Bennett (ranking member), Ted Stevens, Mitch McConnell, Thad Cochran, Trent Lott, Kay Bailey Hutchison, C. Saxby Chambliss, Chuck Hagel, Lamar Alexander.

I suspect one of these 12 people (or their staff) came up with the idea.

  31. gummitch says:

Feinstein’s webpage is interesting. Starting from the Senate page, I clicked on a link for her email but ended up on her home page. The link for email for non-Californians is a teeeeeeny item at the very bottom of the page. I have little hope that her staff will pay any attention; they probably have a “this person can’t vote for us so screw ‘em” file. At any rate, I wrote:

“It came to my attention today that Sen. Feinstein’s signature is on a letter inviting right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh to speak during the 2007 summer intern lecture series. The letter itself clearly defines the speakers at this series as “prominent members of government” speaking about their public service.

Mr. Limbaugh is not a member of government, although during the last six years of Republican administration he has served as a propaganda instrument. He has not performed any public service, other than to spread the anti-liberal messages of that administration. I am appalled that a Democratic Congress is extending this invitation and am doubly appalled that Sen. Feinstein has added her approval with her signature.

Although I no longer live in California, I have in the past been highly supportive of the Senator. At this point, I can’t say that. This is beyond appalling.”

  32. Sharon says:

I wonder if Keith O. or our Daley guy will get an invite as well.? Maybe we should be able to see the list of people they invited…Time for more critical email’s…Blessings

  33. DRxJ says:

The letter states that the lecture series is specifically “for interns to hear prominent members of government speak about their personal experiences in public services

Could this be a freudian slip? Rush is not an elected, prominent member of government! Or, indirectly, is he?

Do you realize what a golden opportunity this would be for me to have access to these young skulls full of mush

Yecch. If it’s in comparison to his last trip to the Dominican Republic, with his doctor’s actual prescription for Viagra (with only 1 missing), I really, REALLY, don’t want to know….

and for those that take OxyContin illegally, it usually leaves there “skulls full of mush”, so another freudian slip, this time on the part of Rushie boy.

  34. DM says:

Since TP has picked up the baton of running this cr*p, I expect a followup that includes the results of a call to the Washington Speakers Bureau (703.684.0555), and how Rush did or did not receive mail at their address.

Solve this stuff out before you post it.

  35. gummitch says:

Hah. Email response from “the Senator”:

“Because of the volume of e-mail that is received by my office, we can only respond to email that includes a California postal address. Please resend the text of your e-mail message, including your postal address, and I will respond to you as soon as possible.”

  36. Patrick1 says:

  37. Tom3 says:

I’m more qualified than Junkie Rush to speak at this event.

Junkie Rush’s experience working in government? Zero.

My experience working in government? 22 years.

    Obviously some Repuke invited him.

Junkie Rush has absolutely NOTHING to say about this topic. His viewpoints on government are so extreme that they are irrelevant.

  38. Scott says:

Um, Juanita Millender McDonald died over a month ago and she was sick and on leave for 6 weeks before that.

How in the world did her signature get on that letter?

  39. DRxJ says:

    Comment by DM — May 16, 2007 @ 11:37 am

did you actually click on the link to Rush’s website?
Did it not say exactly what TP has pointed out?
    What’s your problem?

  40. hellinabucket says:

Limbaugh speak? is that possible? I hope he does. I also hope we get to hear the interns response to him. Let’s all hear how serious his agenda is and how clear his statements are.

My guess is he’ll decline so he can’t be held accountable. it’s so much easier for him to sit on the sidelines and complain.

  41. hellinabucket says:

I wonder who the other invited speakers are?

  42. DM says:

#39 ~ Maybe I haven’t had enough coffee yet this morning. To me it appears as if Rush is presenting a hoax, and it’s being redistributed as the truth.

  43. squegeebooo says:

    Zooey

Where’s Squeegy? I’d rather have him here. :P

Ouch, Tundra got told…. but I’m in the thinkfast, trying to get people to understand the concept of Profit Margins and generally just trying to educate all around.

  44. pbg says:

I for one would very much like to see Rush Limbaugh in a neutral forum answering questions without being able to screen them first.

He never does this: he never enters a situation where he isn’t completely protected.

    He’ll turn this down.

  45. the republic of stupidity says:

Just don’t leave him alone w/ the interns.

  46. DRxJ says:

    #42
    Okay DM. Understood.
But since it’s on Vi*gra Boy’s website, it doesn’t appear to be a hoax, but who knows.
Maybe this another of his hilarious inside jokes.
(Dog in the White House = Chelse Clinton. Or the pertinent dangers of soccer)

  47. DoingNuance says:

    I. Am. Outraged.

  48. rfinca says:

Juanita Millender McDonald died over a month ago

    Comment by Scott

True. She died on April 22, the letter is dated April 12.

  49. curmudgeon says:

Since the Bush Administration and Faux News are actually two heads of the same monster, perhaps Druggie Limbaugh does qualify as a “prominent member of government.” Perhaps some brave reporter could ask “The Decider” to clarify this at his next press conference (which may occur in early 2009?).

  50. Crump's Brother says:

    Patrick1,

“The great one should speak truth to power!!”

    Idolatry much?

  51. Wayne says:

WTF are they inviting Rush for exactly? To give the interns an example of a heavy Oxy addict and how it destroys their brain cells, when taken in Elvis numbers?

  52. Buck Fush says:

You have got to be kidding me, have they lost their collective minds? Why would you have that blow hard gas bag of propaganda speak anywhere? To the mindless trailer trash bigots, sure, those idiots will believe anything he says. But for this….that’s just sick.

  53. tarazan says:

..INTERN LECUTURE SERIES… ‘to have prominenet members of Government speak about their expierence in ‘public service’.

And where does Rush Limbugh fit in this?. He is not a public officials and never was.. !!!

  54. Tyro says:

You know, when the Republicans controlled congress, they knew that these lectures series were an opportunity to funnel speakers’ fees to their ideological allies and friends and an opportunity to shut out their enemies. Have the Democrats learned NOTHING over the past 12 years?

  55. ckerst says:

Who better to talk to young people than a drug abuser that tours world sex trade capitals?

  56. Bernard Quatermass says:

“The great one should speak truth to power!!”

Do NOT f*ck with Jackie Gleason, acne-face.

  57. David O. says:

  58. Devil's Advocate says:

This HAS to be a joke.

  59. Perry Logan says:

Ted Nugent. Ted Nugent can straighten them out.

  60. Parrotlover77 says:

If a single speech from Rush converts anybody, there was no hope to begin with. He’s no different than your average white supremicist group. He’s just a loudmouth that loudly expresses racist, theocratic, homophobic, isolationist, dribble to scare young rich white kids into thinking the black man is stealing their jobs through “racial quotas” and arab men are trying to bomb them for absolutely no reason at all. At best, he’s comic relief at this event.

  61. gummitch says:

If a single speech from Rush converts anybody, there was no hope to begin with.

    Comment by Parrotlover77

Being invited to speak to the interns adds unnecessary credibility to the windbag.

  62. Parrotlover77 says:

gummitch – Good point. I still have faith in the youth of this nation. They seem to be much more progressive than we give them credit for. There’s a reason why all the hard-line right wingers are grumpy old white men. :-)

  63. barfly says:

Just called Feinstein, and e-mailed her as well. The person answering acted as if they weren’t aware of this, or that it was true. Could be a dodge, but I think her staff got blind-sided on this one.

  64. Marie says:

Why is Rush invited as a “member of government?”

Why is a turd like him invited anywhere that civilized people gather?

  65. Rust Limpdick says:

Ladies and gentleman I will be speeking on a couple of subjects close to my heart. I urge you to listen up EIB folks:

“How to turn your housekeeper into a drug mule”

    &

“How to declare sexual tourism as a business expense ”

    Thank You

  66. dan says:

why would you want a drug addled gas bag-drive by junkie to speak at an event like this…..? phuque rush limbaugh!

  67. curmudgeon says:

I’m sure that to prevent any perception that they are being anything but “fair and balanced”, their invite list must also include the likes of Mike Malloy, Alex Jones, etc.?

  68. Anonymous says:

“…the lecture series is specifically “for interns to hear prominent members of government speak about their personal experiences in public services.”

Excuse me?! Limpbaugh is a prominent member of government? Limpbaugh is involved in the public services? What moron decided that huge windbag qualifies for this distinction?

Looks like someone at BushCo sees what Limpbaugh (and Dobson, Robertson, Ingraham, you know, the religious/conservative radio talking heads who get invited to White House meetings when they have nothing to do with government functions) does as an extension of the Republican White House.

  69. Uncle Ho says:

Who TF had this bright idea? Inviting the pompous, cowardly, draft-dodging Limpdick is like inviting Josef Goebbels.

  70. thomas h. pardue says:

Actually, I’m not a fan of Limbugh’s. But, I believe that name calling and unsubstantiated hate speech doesn’t further anyone’s position. I know about his drug problems, marriage problems, and hearing problems. (The hearing thing is his doing-result of the use of drugs.) These comments listed here are very juvenile at best. These people appear to have limited intelligence and communication skills. I imagine this forum is the only vehicle for them to express themselves. Going out in public must be a very traumatic experience. What have I achieved with these remarks? Maybe, I have great powers of deduction and these are true. No, just trash.
