once you get hit, you become much wiser, as to what you did wrong. sometimes you did nothing wrong. my platoon sergeant,(whom i knew for 1 day), was lying beside me in a ditch and got shot right in the head. he did nothing wrong.maybe i shouldnt have moved , to give him more room.been nice chatting with you.ps. the ford administration pulled out the last 1600 troops, after the embassy was in dire trouble in 75. have a nice day. denny g. sr.

Thank you for your service to this country. I’m sorry that you are so embittered about the poorer treatment of draftees that you resort to calling someone who served the country honorably as an officer names like “coward” and “not intelligent” while supporting chickenhawk draft dodgers like Bush and Cheney (who was also part of the Ford administration that ultimately made the decision to pull out of Vietnam.
If someone who gets sharpnel three times is “not very intelligent” to you, what do you call the guys who unfortunately lost their lives?

you are right about one thing,honey.kerry was not in the government in 1975 when the war ended.otherwise you know very little about it. our pullout began in 1969. my 9th div. was one of the first. it took until 1973 to pullout almost 600,000. this left about 1600 troops. so 99.8%of our troops were home.we promised to supply s.vietnam with weapons, ammo, etc. cost about 300,000 per year.russia gave n.vietnam about 2 million per year. s. viet army did very well, until we passed a bill in the senate,in 1975. we reneged on our deal. aid was stopped. the south was soon overcome. that bill was headed by mr. kennedy. so we did not lose that war. it was lost by s. vietnam, thanx to our government. they let 60,000 die in vain. don’t let congress do it to our troops again. don’t let kennedy do it again.

BTW, Dennis the Menace, it was the Republican Ford administration (of which current VP Cheney was a member) that made the decision to pull out of South Vietnam–not Kerry and Kennedy. Kerry wasn’t even in the government back then. Try looking up a few facts next time, dearie.

I am not denigrating the Texas National Guard. I am pointing out that Dumbya Bush used his Daddy’s connections to jump ahead of hundreds on the waiting list to enter the National Guard, which in those days was considerably safer place to be than Vietnam, where Kerry went and earned medals. Shame on you, Dennis the Menace, for making light of his service.

There are no globalist taking over the country. Opportunistic democrats have taken advantage of your crazy, naive ideas on international affairs and got you to believe that you have a legitimate point of view. After they took you votes and moved to Washington, their drive for continued power (and innate rationality) will not permit them to support irrational ideas with real consequences. Feel comforted that, despite your convictions, there are serious adults that will, in the end, save you from yourselves.

I was pretty surprised to see that Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow voted in support of this measure, in the past she has been a consistent supporter of the war. Unfortunately, Michigan’s other Senator, the arguably more “liberal” Carl Levin, voted against it. What is perphaps more frustrating is that his vote was not much of a surprise, given his recent comments that were quite accomodating of the Bush administration’s position.

The vote is just a reminder that those of us in the antiwar movement need to keep the pressure on all of our Senators and Representatives, including those who are supposedly “on our side.”

Sympathy Card with a list of the dead from your state. Inform your senator that they NOW have BLOOD on their hands. Further, that they are liable for their deaths and the abductions of our soldiers.

They are promoting the death of our soldiers.
