The number of consecutive votes skipped by Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). McCain “missed another vote today on a resolution related to the Iraq war,” marking “his fifth straight week without casting a vote on the Senate floor.”
He isn’t voting, because he knows the way he would vote would cost him his presidential campaign. It is hard to say one thing on the streets, then vote a different way in session.
Spudge Boy beat me to it. I see it as completely calculated. No one can say “You voted for/against blah blah blah” in a debate, because he hasn’t voted at all. Genius.
Don’t worry buddy. I got you covered. You don’t have to vote on that stuff cause I’m gonna use the veto pen. VETO VETO VETO!!! Shock and Awe!!
RATATATATATAT!!
If I were a Democrat who wanted to run against a crippled McCain in the next Senate vote (because that will be the only election in which his name appears on a ballot), I would repeat this fact ad nauseum during my campaign… John McCain wanted to be President ore than he wanted to be YOUR Senator. Just look at his voting record… Oooops, rather look at his NOT-voting record.

Just think what would happen if you didn’t show up for 42 straight days at work… Why should it be any different for Mc Cain? Especially when we are paying his salary.
Well you know campaigning on the People’s dime is hard work, can’t expect him to do that without prioritizin’. Obviously, Weather Vane McCain’s ascension to the Presidency is necessary to the very survival of the United States and the American way of life. (snort)
Senator John Kerry was absent for every vote during 76 of the 115 days when the Senate cast floor votes in 2003. The Senator’s longest streak of missed votes in 2003 ran from July 11 to September 9, when he missed 62 in a row. For 2004, Senator Kerry was absent for every vote during the months of July, September, and October – and compiled a total of 76 consecutive votes missed from June 23 through October 11. Kerry’s absences for 2004 total 70 days

Then the Repugs would be justified in pointing out that hypocrisy as we are doing now.
Except that you can’t admit that your side is ever in error and so you won’t get that.
Being that McCain is a very old, grumpy man, it’s obvious that he cannot do two things at a time. At his age, he’s lucky to be able to hold up campaigning.
McCain’s Insane. Stop treating him by his position or the office he holds and take a good look at the man. He is INSANE.
Does he still collect pay as a Senator since he’s not been doing his job for the past 5wks or longer. What a rip-off.
So his work is sit and vote 3 days per week (remember, monday and friday are usuallly non work days for these poor people, they must return home every week, wherever it is), for a pity, what? $170K per year, and he can’t even do it?

I don’t think his fellow repukes are going to let him get away with this.
May 17th, 2007 at 5:17 pmI agree, he is avoiding being put on the spot…and a record of his vote..So he is simply escaping the Senate vote…!!

May 17th, 2007 at 5:23 pm#1. Great point… I think you nailed it.
#7. Best question of the day.
My two cents: McCain has no time to vote because it’s hard work losing the little remaining bit of one’s dignity.

May 17th, 2007 at 5:52 pmDear Trolls,
There’s a difference between being the first to criticize or judge and being the one to point out the hypocrisy of those first folks.
See the Republican Party condemned Kerry’s missed votes, yet they remain perpetually silent on McCain’s.
Capisce?

OK, fine. Kerry was only present for 28% of the votes in 2003.

May 17th, 2007 at 6:02 pmHe missed every single vote ever, for all time and he will miss every vote from here on out. He is evil and you have shown me the way.
I need for somebody to hit me on the head many times in a row. I need to be dumbed down a little, because I have decided to be a republican.
