Media Matters notes, “ABC and CBS still have not reported — on either their evening news or morning news broadcasts — former deputy attorney general James B. Comey’s account of what NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams May 15 called a rare glimpse of a high-level, late-night power struggle over the National Security Agency’s warrantless domestic wiretapping program.”

There’s that “liberal media” for you…
May 17th, 2007 at 11:09 pmThis is why it’s pointless to watch network news…
May 17th, 2007 at 11:15 pmAbC and CbS, Ah, the corporate complicit media, doin’ what they do best: coverin’ up for the Bush crime family and their endless trails of treason, lies, fabrications, smears and just plain old-fashioned stupidity..
May 17th, 2007 at 11:15 pmI know why they haven’t reported it. Come closer…………………………………..NOBODY CARES!!!!!!

Given the seriousness of the issue, don’t you think someone should?
May 17th, 2007 at 11:25 pmABC and CBS have both been paid off by the Bush Regime to shut-up.
May 17th, 2007 at 11:27 pmAll you need to do is look at Jay Randal’s comment to realize why nobody takes you folks seriously. You oversell.

We could easily say the same about your comments, Glen.
May 17th, 2007 at 11:33 pmLOL Glen > nobody on here cares what Bush lovers think on TP threads. If you do not like our comments, then please leave. AS for ABC and CBS: they both are controlled by the Bush Regime now. FOX News has always been affiliated with GOP.

Yeah, them darn “librul” media….
May 17th, 2007 at 11:50 pmThe Nation just published an article showing Hillary isplaying a 2 faced game, trying to play to both the left and right wing.
May 18th, 2007 at 12:13 amEye opening article, IMHO.
Anybody want to start boycotting ABC & CBS? I’ve cut down on both significantly over the last few months. In fact, I rarely even tune into ESPN nowadays because of ABC’s crappy reporting. Let’s hit em where it hurts.

I haven’t watched television in almost six months. Don’t miss it at all.
May 18th, 2007 at 12:24 amIts ok everyone saw it on the Daily Show. With popcorn props.
May 18th, 2007 at 12:30 amGlen, you idiot. You would care if you gave a damn about the health of our democracy. But…you don’t. Shocking.
May 18th, 2007 at 12:44 amNetwork news is worthless. Absolutely worthless.
May 18th, 2007 at 12:51 amThese networks wouldn’t recognize real news if it was shoved in their face. I will be surprised if they cover the impeachment. I’m sure they are hoping for war with Iran.
May 18th, 2007 at 12:52 amOur media has effectively been neutered…
May 18th, 2007 at 12:54 amCompletely & utterly. General John Batiste speaks truth to power & is immediately fired. V (the movie) is looking more & more like reality every day. Polls show very clearly (by Fox’s own vote) that Ron Paul struck a chord with his asessment of why we were attacked & not one Republican spin meister will even mention his name except to marginalize him as a quack. This is no longer the Country I learned to Love as a child. This is no longer the Country I was taught about in US History. My Grandfather is 89 years old & he sobs @ the condition of the Country & our so called leaders. Strong arming a man on his sickbed is a new low but it’s actually been floating around (for those of US paying attention) for quite some time. Randi Rhodes reported on this a long time ago but it never quite gathered steam… Kinda pathetic really (sorta like all the WMD bull). God Bless America (what’s left of it).
This was huge. Really huge. It is the most amazing thing I have seen yet coming through the MSM.
I sat stunned as I watched the testimony streaming on the internet. I don’t watch the tv news any more.
I knew Gonzales was slimey, but I didn’t realize just how bad he was. This was bad.. Then I realized that of course he wasn’t acting on his own. He was ordered to go there. It had to be Bush or Cheney, or perhaps both. They all have to go. It is like watching The Sopranos, only worse.. (Maybe a cross between The Sopranos and The keystone Cops..)
I spent the entire morning writing letters to Senators and Representatives. I honestly don’t think it makes any difference any more. I probably won’t do it any more. If after all this garbage that has been coming out for all these months and years - if they haven’t done anything about it yet, they aren’t going to do it now. I really don’t understand it. I am finally thinking perhaps that it is just an illusion to think that voting makes a difference - that it reflects what we as Americans want. I think that our elected representatives and Senators act like they represent us, but they don’t. I think there is much more at play. So much illusion. I have become very disillusioned the last 6 months. I think our system is broken. Perhaps it has always been broken, but I am only now realizing just how broken.
It is like we have a totally different form of government in place and nobody (we Americans) has really awakened to the fact yet… My husband tells me that we get the government that we deserve. I think that means that most people aren’t interested in anything but their own lives and daily schedules. That is how these people slip in and take over unnoticed. I just hope it isn’t too late.
May 18th, 2007 at 12:57 amAnd I tell you what.. If Keith Olbermann is right (I know he was joking) and Gonzales becomes the next President of the World Bank, I am moving to another planet.
May 18th, 2007 at 1:03 amThis story is not new. It was ignored a year ago as it is ignored today. I’m surprised nobody is noting this is not a new story.
May 18th, 2007 at 1:03 amhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_B._Comey
Nell, the story itself is not new. The incredible details ARE.
May 18th, 2007 at 1:09 am#26 Interesting. Obviously the story is getting much more exposure now because the Democrats are in power and can hold hearings. Who knows what else we are not hearing about the administration’s crimes, with the media colluding to cover it up.
May 18th, 2007 at 1:13 amComment by JG — May 18, 2007 @ 12:57 am
You are awake and many others are also. Our country was stolen underneath our noses. It is tragic — but all is not lost. There are more bumps in the road ahead but truth will prevail. ABC and CBS and a host of others are only concerned about the bottomline. It’s all about money. Everything. My parents, grandparents & great grandparents are rolling in their graves - this is not the country they helped to build.
All is not lost - this too, shall pass. Let’s keep the pressure on our supposed representatives - and on the media - and let’s demand real leadership from those we elect.
Take care………….
May 18th, 2007 at 1:14 amI’d like to know who they were really wiretapping. For some reason, I doubt it was terrorists.
May 18th, 2007 at 1:31 amPost 30 > as a political activist, and writer who opposes the Bush Regime, they were probably wiretapping me and thousands of other Americans who detest Bush and Cheney.
May 18th, 2007 at 1:44 amNobody cares. I believe that’s just what Nixon thought right up to the day he resigned.
May 18th, 2007 at 1:46 am>NOBODY CARES - glen = jake
Yes, right, people are much more fascinated by important things like “I wonder who else spooged in anna nicole” or “I wonder what black person is offended by a white old man using a term black rappers frequently use to describe women”
glad to know it doesnt ACTUALLY have anything to do with people in power having any influence over the media.. wealthy powerful men influencing the media…nah.. couldn’t be…
May 18th, 2007 at 3:29 amABC and CBS have been scooped by Comedy Central, Again…Shameful
May 18th, 2007 at 6:27 amWe need to ask Letterman to do it.
May 18th, 2007 at 7:28 amOf course they haven’t. Those stations are both wholly owned and operated subsidiaries of the Bush Administration/Republic party. I don’t believe that they reported it when the story first came out either.
Boy, that “liberal media” sure is pesky.
May 18th, 2007 at 9:24 am“I spent the entire morning writing letters to Senators and Representatives. I honestly don’t think it makes any difference any more. I probably won’t do it any more”
Please don’t stop. The only way we can turn this thing around is if we let our representatives know that we are MAD AS HELL AND WE AREN’T GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE. I write to my representatives regularly both Democrats and Republic. If our Republic representatives see that they are going to be voted out of office, they will change.
I also write regularly to the media and to their advertisers. I have a long list of companies I won’t do business with because they support the Bush Monarchy. Surprisingly enough, I often get replies back from the companies. So, I know they are listening. We have had successes with our letter writing campaigns. Look at what we did with Bill O’Lieley. And look what happened to Imus. He was OK until his sponsors started deserting the show. And why did they do that? Because they heard from angry customers.
The only power we still have as “we the people” is the power of our pen and our purse. Use them please.
May 18th, 2007 at 9:33 am#4 Glenn
You have the cart before the horse, when you say nobody cares — nobody knows, and nobody understands the implications, BECAUSE THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA HAS NOT FULLY REPORTED THE IMPORTANT NEWS.
They seem to have no problem, however, reporting on the latest devleopment in the sentencing of Paris Hilton.
May 18th, 2007 at 10:35 amWill there be mass resignations at the teevee news networks?

Whose truth? Yours, mine, the Catholics, the Libertarians, the wiccans? We know there isn’t one truth cause the liberals tell us that so much.

That’s odd because…
May 18th, 2007 at 11:10 pm…when the issue is removing filth and violence from the airwaves…
…we are told that we make our opinions known…
…by changing the channel…
…similarly, we can make our opinions known about the presentation of the news…
…by refusing to watch…
…with all the news sources available to us, we can get along just fine without tv news…
…as noted previously by several posters…
…Since the current programs maintain an audience just fine…
…most people are apparently happy with the situation.
