Army coaching recruits on how to beat drug tests.
“As the war in Iraq rages on, the battle to find new fighting men and women is waged everyday in recruiting offices. Before they can carry a gun or fly a fighter jet, new recruits must pass a drug test.”
The potential recruits are given one chance to pass their drug test when they show up to the Military Entrance Processing Station, but a hidden camera investigation carried out by San Antonio NBC affiliate WOAI caught recruiters volunteering to help recruits ace the drug test at home or in their office before ever heading to MEPS for that official test.

Every one of us should be free to do whatever we want with our person or our property, as long as by doing so we don’t prevent other people from doing the same….
oh yeah, and on topic, these recruiters are still slimeballs.

One enterprising young high school student from here in Colorado did this. He caught recruiters telling him how to beat the drug test by drinking stuff that flushes you out.
One recruiter was even caught on video taking a recruit to a nearby head shop to buy the drug-flushing stuff.

Helicopters are often flown by warrant officers recruited from the ranks.
So it is quite possible for a recruit to become a pilot.

many officers do come from a long list of family members who were military and more likely officers like them. But there are quite a few officers that were never rich, don’t have this tradition. And some officeres actually rose through the ranks, rare, but it happens.
still, officers are NOT recruits.

Rich or poor, anyone can go to the military academies. Rich kids have gone and poor kids have gone. What the militiary looks for is grades, SAT, ACT scores. Just like any other college. the nice thing about the academies is that unliek all other colleges, you don’t pay tuition.

As in – I won’t send you to take the MEPS drug test until you prove to me that you are not using drugs. The recruiter is merely doing his job. This whole story is a twisted mess of lies. Guess what – civilians do drugs, and you can’t do drugs in the military, therefore the recruiter is making sure his recruits are clean. Good for him.

TP doesn’t imply that all recruits will be flying jets or helicopters, only that if they were to so they would have to pass a drug test. You’re waging a pointless battle here arguing a non-issue. The larger issue is that recruiters are actively circumventing their own policies to put our young men and women in harm’s way. Is this for finiancial gain? Perhaps. Is it wrong? Yes.

Again (and probably again and again ….) TP makes no such claim. Even if they were (which they’re not) you yourself have claimed that 99.9% of fighter pilots are not recruits. Thus proving the imaginary point that you are arguing against. Further, whether fighter pilots are on drugs or not is not the issue, (in reality many fighter pilots take amphetamines to allow them to stay awake during long missions) the issue is that recruiters are acting in contradiction to an army policies.

May 17th, 2007 at 3:31 pmLook, its not the fault of the Recruiter! My Wife is a recruiter and I hardly see her. See works from 7am-10pm everyday except Sun. She would rather be in Iraq than do this. The Army says you have to put 2 people in a month or we ruin your carreer. They have to make at least 2 appointments a day or they don’t go home at a reasonable time. These guys are under extreme pressure and no one wants to sign up. The pool of possible canidate’s for the military is aweful. Most have police records and do take recreational drugs. Just for fun, and because I am a little bored, let’s examine TP’s statement using symbolic logic.
Here, P represents passing a drug test. J will represent a recruit becoming a fighter pilot.
TP’s statement is:
Before they can carry a gun or fly a fighter jet, new recruits must pass a drug test.
This is logically equivalent to (restricted to matters of P and J):
J -> P
Now, if as you claim, recruits never become fighter pilots, then we always have:
-J
Using basic logic, we know that this does not directly imply -P. Rather, applying modus tollens gives us
-P -> -J
Or, not passing a drug test prohibits a recruit from becoming a fighter pilot.
Never does TP’s statement lend itself to P -> J, no matter how you much you would like it to.

My wife is a medic and they just told her one day her job was changed. then they give them $400 extra a month to drive around and take people out to eat. With gas prices and the amount for meals.we are spending over a grand out of pocket with no compensation. I’m a disabled vet and cant work. We have childern and they never see their mother and this job is a added expense. I hate this duty and so do the other soldiers. if a recruiter cant get anybody in during the month, the command make their lives a living hell. People have no idea how hard this job is. I know recruiters that have been in the worst combat conditions in Iraq,real heros who would rather go back than do this job!

No, jet fighter pilots are not recruited, they are chosen from a group of elite individuals that apply to fly jet fighter pilots. It is a very rigorous application and the Air Force, Marines and Navy chose their pilots very careful. They chose the best, of the best of the best.
Jet Fighter pilots are NOT recruited, the military personnel applies to fly jet fighter pilots and the armed forces choses whether to pick them or not.

First of all, why did you say that 99% of jet fighter pilots were never recruits instead of 100%? Is it because you’re not sure? My gut says yes.
Second, and please read this slowly, here is what TP said:

Now, slowly and carefully read the preceding statement. You will notice that nowhere does it say “Fighter pilots are drug tested.” What it does say is that NEW RECRUITS, no matter where they end up, are drug tested. Whether or not any end up as jet fighter pilots has no bearing the the veracity of the statement. If as you say, recruits never become jet fighter pilots, then the statement is still true because ALL RECRUITS ARE DRUG TESTED regardless of their future post. If, and I suspect this is likely the case, some recruits do actually become fighter pilots, then they will have been drug tested before being allowed to do so because ALL NEW RECRUITS ARE DRUG TESTED.

Let me spell this out for you *real* slow-like.
If a person who is a recruit at one time is chosen to be a fighter pilot, (got that, a recruit who has been selected as an elite individual to fly jets) then that recruit has gone through MEPS. Hence, before flying that jet, he has been drug tested. Therefore, before being allowed to fly a jet, he was drug tested. TP makes no claims about any other jet pilots. Just recruits in general who may or may not become fighter pilots.
I say once more, hopefully for the last time that this is not the issue.

What I said was that if a recruit does somehow manage to become a fighter pilot, then he, at the time he was a new recruit had to go through MEPS. Something that is vastly different that what you are claiming.

1) I do NOT want a theocracy in which ANY religion is made the official religion of the USA.
2) I 100% disagree with government getting involved with any religion since then it opens up the possibility for the government to dictate the rules of that particular religion.

Here, P represents passing a drug test. J will represent a recruit becoming a fighter pilot.
TP’s statement is:
Before they can carry a gun or fly a fighter jet, new recruits must pass a drug test.
This is logically equivalent to (restricted to matters of P and J):
J -> P
Now, if as you claim, recruits never become fighter pilots, then we always have:
-J
Using basic logic, we know that this does not directly imply -P. Rather, applying modus tollens gives us
-P -> -J
Or, not passing a drug test prohibits a recruit from becoming a fighter pilot.
Never does TP’s statement lend itself to P -> J, no matter how you much you would like it to.
