Just for fun, and because I am a little bored, let’s examine TP’s statement using symbolic logic.

Here, P represents passing a drug test. J will represent a recruit becoming a fighter pilot.

TP’s statement is:

Before they can carry a gun or fly a fighter jet, new recruits must pass a drug test.

This is logically equivalent to (restricted to matters of P and J):

J -> P

Now, if as you claim, recruits never become fighter pilots, then we always have:

-J

Using basic logic, we know that this does not directly imply -P. Rather, applying modus tollens gives us

-P -> -J

Or, not passing a drug test prohibits a recruit from becoming a fighter pilot.

Never does TP’s statement lend itself to P -> J, no matter how you much you would like it to.

TP didn’t assign the tests a purpose, it just said that the new recruits had to be drug tested. Thank God that argument is over.

Here, this is exactly my point, it doesn’t matter what the point of the drug test is, the fact is that they have been drug tested. Thank you for proving my point.

For the sake of argument, I will agree that recruits never become fighter pilots. As I have pointed out though, this is not important to the argument at hand.

Now, answer on simple question,

No new recruit has ever been told, signed, etc…..”You are going to take a drug test in order to find out if you can fly our military jet fighters.”

this hasn’t happen and will not happen.
