Unfortunately, I believe you may be right. There is simply no bottom to this particular shit barrel, is there?
Every American life lost is a tragedy. However, to use the number of dead in this war as a morbid “shock and awe” tactic is pathetic. Especially knowing that number is so relatively low.

I see you’re in the business of determining the eternal destination of humans. There is only one being charged with that task, and something tells me you’re not Him.
Wingnutt, your bolt is holding on line #2. He says its something about you’ve come unscrewed. Your lock washer misses you too.
You have more important things to do like holding something together than to be ragging on us.
If you’re the next generation of liberal, the conservative movement’s future is bright.

Wingnutt,
I don’t think you have to worry about that happening. The “conservative movement” is imploding right before our eyes, and oh what a LOVELY sight it is. Thanks, Wingnutt, for making our LIBERAL dreams come true. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Have I said it enough yet, THANK YOU for aiding the destruction of the Republic party. Soon you 28%’ers will be 18%’ers.
The big difference is that the invasion of Iraq was a war of choice. Against a nation that was not a threat. Over a reason that was never true -remember those WMD?
I don’t see any sense in responding to wingnutt. In his world the 6825 soldiers of Iwo Jima are just a number as well. Don’t answer to sociopaths.
Germany lost three men today as well and many Iraqi families and Afghan families are losing their loved ones on a daily basis. Our hearts should go out to all of the victims and the work should be to stop the fighting and go for regime change in Washington in 2008. The likes of wingnutt are insignificant. Argueing with them wont help to do the necessary work.
Casualties among private contractors in Iraq have soared to record levels this year, setting a pace that seems certain to turn 2007 into the bloodiest year yet for the civilians who work alongside the American military in the war zone, according to new government numbers.
At least 146 contract workers were killed in Iraq in the first three months of the year,……..
That brings the total number of contractors killed in Iraq to at least 917, along with more than 12,000 wounded in battle or injured on the job, according to government figures and dozens of interviews.
3409 US Troops killed in Iraq
26,188 US Troops wounded in Iraq
917 US Civillian Contractors Killed in Iraq
12,000 Civillian Contractors wounded in Iraq
Is it just me but has anyone else noticed that the military has been announcing accumulated/multiple death tolls on the weekend in order to lessen its impact for the past few months? Part of an ongoing effort to limit the reporting of the war’s toll on US troops.Something to look into? or just my cynicism fostered by this administration?
27 / nogamez – your right I knew there was something strange happening the other day casualties were on the 6 oclock news Hours before any website , and still most news websites were harping on about looking for the missing marines ———- I think your right they leave the deaths for the weekend when most people are away for the weekend
And the responsibility for those 5 deaths lies squarely on the shoulder of the Republic party. One has to wonder how they sleep at night. But, the first requirement of being a Republic politician is that you have no heart and no soul, so I guess they sleep just fine.
“At least 146 contract workers were killed in Iraq in the first three months of the year,……..”
It is very sad when anyone dies. But I have to admit that I don’t feel the same level of sadness when I read that a $100,000 a year Blackwater mercenary has been killed as I do when I read that a $20,000 a year member of our US military dies. I know I should view both deaths to be equal. But somehow I can’t.
One wonders how many KIAs there would have been on Iwo Jima if the Marines had the level of combat medical care and body armor (those that can get it) available to the forces in Iraq.
I read a medical study about a decade ago (can’t remember by who, I think John Hopkins) that concluded that if US forces in World War II had the level of care that US forces in Vietnam had, combat deaths in the Second World War would have been halved.
So any comparisons between battle fatalities that are 60 years apart doesn’t seem to make any sense. You might as well compare the Battle of Fallujah to Gettysburg.
Remember “5″ and “3,408″ are only numbers – not real people.

May 19th, 2007 at 9:37 amWe have an accurate count of the number of U.S. troops and civillian contractors dead and wounded in Iraq.
Nobocy counts the Iraqis.
With the current corrupt president and his cronies, Iraqis DON’T COUNT!
Since most of those Iraqis are muslims, maybe THAT’S why our troops don’t count with the warring factions in Iraq’s civil war.
It is waaaaaaay past time to bring our troops home to their REAL lives!
