However, Eric is right to point out the fundamental reason we invaded Iraq: necessity of US control of oil resources in the Middle East. You all might think this is improper motivation for the invasion, but the truth is, we NEED to control the politics of oil in that region, and Hussein was getting buggy on us. It was definitely time to take him out.

The neo-cons were afraid to say this to the nation, who might have wanted to refocus the hundreds of billions spent on war toward, oh, development of renewable energy resources. But many of the neo-cons behind the war stood to profit from weapons development and reconstruction projects, so it was basically a no-brainer. Of course they would invade.

Clumsily they hid behind false allegations of WMD’s and painfully transparent assertions of “freeing an oppressed people.” LIKE THEY GIVE A SHIT. They don’t. That’s why they won’t invade China on behalf of the Tibetans, for example. Even if they could win a war with China, they wouldn’t do that. Why? BECAUSE THEY DON”T GIVE A SHIT.

This unelected “administration” (super-elite criminal thugs poorely masquerading as respectable leaders) is wholly vicious and absolutely anti-American. They have not a single visionary or enlightened thought that anyone has ever heard. They are not leaders by any stretch of the imagination. They are narrow-minded, greed-driven, draft-dodging arm-chair war profiteers and their lead puppet-boy is disgraceful beyond comprehension. Nevertheless, they HAVE succeeded and continue to succeed in their hegemonic, unconstitutional, catastrophic plans.

And that, my friends, says far more about us than it does about them.

Just for grins, I read your article. I didn’t get the impression that N. Korea was officially giving up their nukes. If this is such big news, why isn’t CNN and FOX picking it up?

Your assertion is that N. Korea all of a sudden fell in line because of our tough action in Iraq. Of course, the cause and effect of your argument is hardly convincing.

I could make just as strong an argument that our behavior in Iraq has caused Iran to move MORE towards developing nuclear weapons. In fact, if some rich, powerful country just attacked and took over my neighbor under false pretenses, I would be really worried. I might develop whatever technology I could to make them think twice about attacking me.

Even if this is not true, it’s as convincing as your argument.

The bottom line is that you cannot provide ample justification for:

The fact that the WMD threats turned out false doesn’t change a thing. That was not the sole justification for invading.

Here’s the only thing I took from your lengthy reply. You still can’t explain what was the huge ‘threat’, the real ‘justification’, that we used to send about 150,000 soldiers into a sovereign nation, overthrow the existing leadership, and continue to occupy the country for four years and who knows how many more.

Tell us, what was the real justification for all of this? I still have not heard anything to convince me that I was wrong in protesting this war from the beginning.
