Rush Limbaugh: “The wizards at the Today Show plan, on Monday, to do a big exposé on my parody tune “Barack, the ‘Magic Negro.‘” Limbaugh says he is sending “encyclopedic documentation” to NBC showing “the brilliance of it, the humor of it.” We’ll see how much of that NBC incorporates into its report.
NBC wouldn’t dare pay homage to Rush by airing this racist trash.
May 19th, 2007 at 11:37 amUnless it’s part of an investigative reporting series on racist trash like Limpballs.
Perhaps NBC will touch on the racial stereotyping by George W. Bush. For example, there is this jaw-dropper from jis January 12, 2005 town hall meeting with a primarily African-American audience to sell his failed Social Security privatization scheme:
“Another interesting idea…is a personal savings account…which can’t be used to bet on the lottery, or a dice game, or the track. “
For more on the GOP’s racial politics, see:
May 19th, 2007 at 11:38 am“The Amazing Race Card.”
RUCerious,
I hate what Rush Limbaugh does. That having been said, I think that using stupid, poorly formed puns like “Limpballs” is childish, unfunny, makes it less likely that anyone will read the rest of your comment or be persuaded by it, and reflects poorly on you.
“Limpballs” is reaaally a stretch anyway. Maybe you don’t know male anatomy, but the testicles retain the same consistency – they are not alternately “limp” and “erect”.
May 19th, 2007 at 11:46 amAnd why hasn’t Limburger been fired, like Imus was?
May 19th, 2007 at 11:47 amFor that matter, why hasn’t Glen Beck?
People (I use that term advisedly) like Limpballs and Beck appeal to our prurient interest just like Paris Hilton, et. al.
None of them have any redeeming personal qualities. None of them actually make constructive contributions to society or to social or political discourse. They are leeches who have attached themselves to the dark side of the human psyche. They exist only because we give them attention and we nourish their need for validation.
They are mere parodies of themselves.
May 19th, 2007 at 11:57 ameddy, thanks for your critique. I’ll restrain myself from ever again trying to use anatomical puns in renaming villains like Rush Lumpbrain.
May 19th, 2007 at 11:59 amI don’t know, my bag tends to differ in size from time to time…
May 19th, 2007 at 12:02 pmencyclopedia documantation? He must know that he is going to need to defend himself. I hope that his words expose him for the hate monger he is.
May 19th, 2007 at 12:04 pmDid NBC advertise this upcoming expose? Or does Rush have a mole over at NBC?
May 19th, 2007 at 12:08 pmWe already know that Brian Williams is an avowed “OxyCon Dittohead”
============================
In a December 2004 interview with C-Span’s Brian Lamb, Williams proclaimed that he is a longtime listener of The Rush Limbaugh Show : “…I think it’s my duty to listen to Rush. I think Rush has actually yet to get the credit he is due, because his audience for so many years felt they were in the wilderness of this country. No one was talking to them”
Concern troll alert.
OT but what does HuffPo have against Jebediah Reed? Three times in the last 10 days they have run hit pieces on him apparently without giving him a chance to respond. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that arriana has hired tom (david broder is the voice of the people) edsall to be the director of huffpo’s election coverage.
May 19th, 2007 at 12:09 pmComment by eddy tompkins
Limpballs may be silly, but Limburger fits, because that
May 19th, 2007 at 12:13 pmmancretin is just “stanky”. =DThen again, this ‘expose’ may just be another way that Rush will demonstrate his ‘power over the media’.
There really is no expose, but Rush says there is and will send documentation to refute what’s going to be said. The expose, that never was, isn’t shown, and Rush takes credit for staring down NBC and proving himself right.
May 19th, 2007 at 12:30 pm#3
When I use the word limpballs or chimpy or shooter it is not meant to be funny or childish. I’m dead serious…these clowns have no respect with me. If you don’t want to read my post that’s fine. But don’t tell me that others won’t read it…you have no way of knowing that. Additionally: STFU
May 19th, 2007 at 12:47 pmJust what Barack Obama needs — more publicity over this idiocy.
May 19th, 2007 at 12:48 pmI guess we’ll see how much humor the average American sees in it on Tuesday morning. My guess is Limpballs has no idea the crapstorm is about to hit. As for calling him Limpballs you’re right, from now on I’ll call him what he is, a right wing conservative drug addict who likes to take vacations in third world sex trade capitals while using another persons viagra prescription.
May 19th, 2007 at 12:50 pm#13 – Patrick
**standing ovation**
May 19th, 2007 at 12:58 pmgood. it’s time to take that fat lying propagandist pervert down.
May 19th, 2007 at 1:04 pmPatrick, Bravo….#3 go f*** your self and the huge elephant you rode in on…Blessings to every one else..
May 19th, 2007 at 1:06 pmHere are the lyrics for all you brain dead morons who don’t know what the song was about. It is sung by a person impersonating Al Sharpton
Barack the Magic Negro lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times they called him that
cause he’s not authentic like me
Yeah the guy from the L.A. paper
said he made guilty whites feel good
they’ll vote for him and not for me
cause hes not from da hood
see real black men like snoop dogg
or me or farrakhan
have talked the talk and walked the walk
not come and laid and won (not sure about this line)
Barack the Magic Negro lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times they called him that
cause he’s not authentic like me
cause hes black but not authentically
Barack the Magic Negro lives in D.C.
The L.A. Times they called him that
cause he’s not authentic like me
cause hes black but not authentically
some say barack’s articulate
and bright and new and clean
the media sure love this guy
a white interloper’s dream
but when you vote for president
May 19th, 2007 at 1:10 pmwatch out and dont be fooled
dont vote the magic negro in
cause…
Barack grew up black, for sure. It’s really offensive that a fatass lying piece of crap like Rush would try to divide blacks by pretending to care about them.
May 19th, 2007 at 1:20 pmJeezus Rush does not deserve $$$. Not a dime. What a crime he makes a living doing this. Hopefully the expose will end his career.
Who is going to do the expose? Lauer? Are you kidding me Lauer is as much an administration Shill as Timmeh Russert and Katie Couric was before him.
So in all likelyhood Limbaugh will get a pass from NBC.
May 19th, 2007 at 1:22 pmI hope NBC Today Show does it’s homework, so they don’t come off looking like fools.
This song has been out since March, before Imus’ takedown. The lyrics refer the several columns in newspapers written by liberals, questioning Barack’s “blackness..” That is what the song is about.
May 19th, 2007 at 1:31 pm“‘Limpballs’ is reaaally a stretch anyway. Maybe you don’t know male anatomy, but the testicles retain the same consistency – they are not alternately ‘limp’ and ‘erect’.

How old are you? Have your pubes shown up yet?
May 19th, 2007 at 1:33 pmWelp it looks like there are a lot of people here who think some good will come of calling despised political figures by childish names,
May 19th, 2007 at 1:46 pmand who enjoy gratuitously insulting people who express their opinion that no good will come of it. I think you’re wrong. And I would NEVER tell ANYONE to STFU. That’s a desperate last recourse of those without a counterargument.
“the brilliance of it, the humor of it.â€
Rush Limbaugh own words on his parody song, “Barak the Magic Negro”…
Clearly words like “brilliance” and “humor” have different definitions in Rush’s world.
May 19th, 2007 at 1:48 pmRespect is earned, and so far Bush,Rush,Hannity, on and on, haven’t earned one iota of respect from me!
May 19th, 2007 at 1:53 pmThere is nothing “brilliant” or “humorous” about the mypoic and caustic brand of commentary Limbaugh spews out.
May 19th, 2007 at 1:55 pm23.
You just might be right when I think about it.
After all, GDumbya does this all the time. For instance, he called Asst. AG Comey “Cuomo” back when he was acting AG and resisting signing off on an illegal wiretapping program. He calls Rove “Turdblossom” — what’s that all about? He calls Karen Hughes “Sugar Tits” — what ever happened to her, anyway.
Limpballs does it too — “Dingy” Harry, etc.
I guess what it all comes down to is that turnabout is fair play when it comes to giving these folks nicknames. Neither their behavior nor their treatment of other people entitle them to the respect of calling them by their given names.
May 19th, 2007 at 1:56 pmFair play yes, but that doesn’t make it a good idea. I think the war of ideas is won with ideas, not names that evoke the day a five-year-old learns to say “poop”.
Namecalling is a weak and lazy arguing technique for adults.
May 19th, 2007 at 2:02 pmI like to make well-reasoned arguments and use special nicknames for these fools. If it weren’t for names like “GDumbya” and “Limpballs”, I would likely sink to a much lower level and call them by other deserved names such as “a**hole”, “f*ckhead” and “dumbf*K”, for instance.
May 19th, 2007 at 2:10 pmOnce again Limbaugh is playing you “progressives” like a stratocaster. Why hasen’t he been fired? By whom, himself? He owns his own program and actually makes money. (What a concept, hear that Err America?) Maybe Media Matters can run him off of the air. (Hey Brock, how’s that electo-shock therapy working out for you? Still curled up in the fetal position are you?) Ya right, just a small yappy dog nipping at Rush’s ankles and looking for pub. Boycott his sponsers on all 600 stations? For every one you hear there are 10 waiting to get on. I pay a premium to get a spot placed on his show. 2 spots on Limbaugh would buy a full day on AAR-Nova-M in Phoenix, and it gets results!
May 19th, 2007 at 2:20 pmYou know what they say, any pub is good pub, just spell my name right.
Tom,
Do you think any right-winger who scans your comment and sees “GDumbya” or “Limpballs” will pay any heed to the rest of your post?
Part 2 – if the answer is “I don’t care,” or another round of “STFU” – then, who are you trying to persuade with an argument here? Someone who already agrees with you? (If so, why bother….)
May 19th, 2007 at 2:26 pmSharon – I just got your joke, as I am not prone to thinking “hmm, this person is saying something I disagree with, therefore they must be a Republican” as you have done.
I assure you I am an adult-life-long Democrat, who was just trying to express the opinion that namecalling weakens any potential for making a persuasive argument.
And again, telling someone to STFU because you don’t agree with what they are saying is lame, no matter who is saying it to whom.
May 19th, 2007 at 2:30 pmeddy, if right wingers want to come on this site and not read my posts, which are mostly one liners, I could not care less. I am not trying to convince them with some rational arguement, I’d go to redstate and getted banned for the hundredth time if I wanted to do that.
May 19th, 2007 at 2:35 pmMy purpose posting here is to cast aspersions on the clowns that are ruining this country. If you have a problem with that, go mow your lawn.
RUCerious,
Thanks for helping me to understand your rationale for posting here.
I’m not sure what “go mow your lawn” means – is that another “you are a Republican” thing like that “and the giant elephant you rode in on” comment from Sharon? Thanks. (I don’t do a lot of this so I am learning about what folks do/say here.)
May 19th, 2007 at 2:39 pmNah, I just meant that you might have better things to do that would be more fruitful with your time. No disrespect intended.
May 19th, 2007 at 2:43 pmHave a great saturday!
My new moniker for Eddy T. is: tightass
I don’t come here thinking I’m going to change anyones mind Eddy. I’m not addressing congress or even the city council. I don’t even post that often…I like to see what others have to say and I appreciate the humor (at least it’s funny to me). Have a good day…and I think the suggestion to go mow your lawn, meant nothing more than just that…at least, if your out there you won’t be preaching to us in here.
May 19th, 2007 at 2:56 pmAs I said last time, Rush, you’ve done it again. Hilarious and right on the money!
Oh and by the way, VOTE OBAMA!!!
May 19th, 2007 at 2:58 pmStupid wingnuts should keep their attacks focused on the confusing name. Oh, but anytime they can wave their flag of racism, they fly it high, and with pride.
Scumbags.
May 19th, 2007 at 3:30 pmWhen you think about it : how much credibility does Faux Snooze have anyways?
May 19th, 2007 at 3:33 pm#13 Patrick
May 19th, 2007 at 3:56 pmMy sentiments exactly.
Besides, Lintball – remnants in the clothes dryer to be discarded in the trash – far better suits the racist, bigoted, loudmouth.
Um, folks:
“Faux Snooze”? “Lintball”?
Puns are the lowest form of humor, remember? And from the look of it, if you’ve thought of a pun, someone else probably already has, too, if it’s even slightly amusing. Oh yeah and then there’s the fact that it’s exactly the type of humor that Rush Limbaugh is using to attack Barack Obama.
May 19th, 2007 at 4:27 pmeddy, for a person new to the site, perhaps you’d be better off viewing a more erudite and sophisticated blog, like the rude pundit.
May 19th, 2007 at 4:35 pmhttp://rudepundit.blogspot.com/
Sheesh. First we have to put up with trolls with an IQ of 79. Now we have to put up with a pompous troll in the form of eddy tompkins. This site is getting really hard to read. I believe in free speech but this is getting ridiculous. I think that Think Progress should limit the number of posts we can make per thread. I would be happy with one. That way, I could express my opinion. And it would stop the trolls and the posters who play with the trolls from taking over a thread.
What do you think? How about it TP, how about limiting your public to one or two comments per thread. This will not violate anyones right to free speech and may stop the trolls and troll players from taking over.
May 19th, 2007 at 5:03 pm#42 — RUC
Excellent…..
May 19th, 2007 at 5:06 pmMs Henry, if eddy goes to the Rude One’s site, perhaps he’ll be so enamored he’ll not darken our paths again.
May 19th, 2007 at 5:13 pmKate Henry says:
“I believe in free speech but this is getting ridiculous.”
That’s hilarious! “I believe in free speech except … when someone makes more than one comment per topic that I don’t agree with.”
I’m no troll – I suggest you Google me. You’ll find (gasp) comments you probably agree with at New York Sun, Think Progress, and TPM Muckraker. I’m just not a fan of stupid, childish puns and namecalling, no matter who they’re from, and I think they cheapen the discourse.
Speaking of which – it’s all well and good if you feel that you can say everything you want to say in a single post… Me, I would prefer to discuss things with people – maybe learn from them, maybe they could learn something from me, etc. You know, as in a community?
Some of you folks are as closed-minded as any closed-minded conservatives you deride.
May 19th, 2007 at 5:16 pmRUCerious – I did look at that site. I’m no particular fan or foe of strong language. I think it’s more effective when used more sparingly for emphasis. So, I’m neither enamored of it nor horrified by it. Sorry to disappoint you.
May 19th, 2007 at 5:18 pm“Ms Henry, if eddy goes to the Rude One’s site, perhaps he’ll be so enamored he’ll not darken our paths again.”
That might work for him, but what about all the others. You know, Jake, Valiant, all the incarnations of President. It is very discouraging to come to this site and see that it has been taken over by the trolls and the people who like to play with the trolls.
May 19th, 2007 at 5:19 pmAs usual, all you sickies on the left keep the name calling and nonsense going, because you don’t the brain it takes to make sense.
Now could just one of you ask someone for help so you could perhaps give just one example of when Rush was wrong, or racist? The Bitches on the Hate America Radio Network spew more hate in 20 minutes than Rush has spoken in 20 years.
And don’t give me more of the leftist crap, tell only the truth, something that a real human, with a real brain, not lefty scum, would understand and agree with.
May 19th, 2007 at 5:29 pmJim Hum,
How’s about Rush’s inability to see that all 10 Republican presidential candidates at the recent debate were white males, whereas the Democrats’ candidates included a female, a Hispanic, and an African American? That’s a fresh example.
May 19th, 2007 at 5:32 pmP.S. – I’m not too fond of the ganging up thing here: “You sure showed him”!
May 19th, 2007 at 5:39 pmTo eddy tompkins
It is so typical of a lefty sickie to even care what race or gender someone running for anything is. That shows the extreme racism of you sickies on the left.
I am interested only in the fact that someone running for anything (there are over 500,000 elected offices in the USA) is smart enough to do the job for which he applies. And that is “he†in the common sense usage, not the lefty misogyny usage.
May 19th, 2007 at 5:43 pmUm, OK, folks – see? Jim Hun = troll, Eddy Tompkins DNE troll.
Jim: If you had your way, African Americans would still be 3/5 a person, women wouldn’t vote, etc., etc.
And if you’re concerned that someone be smart enough for the job for which he applies, you must be upset that GWB is president, Alberto Gonzales is Attorney General, etc., since clearly they are not smart enough to do the job.
May 19th, 2007 at 5:54 pmJim – are you a big fan of Rush protege Mark Levin? He shares your proclivity for reducing anyone you don’t agree with to “lefty scum”. He also has very unintelligent callers, whom he hurries to get off the air. Oh yeah, and he yells all the time because he’s incapable of intelligent, reasoned arguments and has to resort to freakshow techniques.
May 19th, 2007 at 5:57 pmeddy tompkins
I am smart enough to know the Attorney General is not an elected office. And Bush is in office because the best the sickies on the left could do was Gore and Kerry. It’s all your fault.
And I not only don’t like this Bush, I didn’t like his father, his grandfather, and several other relatives who lived maybe before you were born.
Where did you get the statement = If you had your way, African Americans would still be 3/5 a person, women wouldn’t vote, etc., etc. = certainly not from something I wrote, just from your sickie mind, or whatever that tiny smidgen of whatever is between your ears is called.
May 19th, 2007 at 6:03 pmeddy tompkins
I didn’t know how you could understand “reducing anyone you don’t agree with to “lefty scumâ€â€until I read “unintelligent callers†which is the only reason you could understand them, and who is it you are talking about, never heard of him.
May 19th, 2007 at 6:07 pmWhat part of this song do you Think Regress Rejects find offensive. The song is about an article that a LIBERALl moron wrote in the LA times. Read the lyrics first before you criticize it. Once again the Think Regress Rejects are being driven by blind hatred and not the facts.
May 19th, 2007 at 6:12 pmThere is an article linked from this post about the usage of derogatory words and their effect. Decent read.

I read the lyrics and listened to the “song.” Yep, racist and stupid are the words of the day.
It’s a song done by someone imitating the voice of Al Sharpton. So? Why is that ok?
You must be a great fan of the Golliwogg.
May 19th, 2007 at 9:27 pmEddy, mandolin, jim or who ever you all are I’m not buying it..Sound’s like troll’s to me..First only mandolin has been here before and screen names mean nothing to troll’s…It appear’s to be one person playing both sides…I don’t give a rat’s ass what you think of my post’s or name calling, skip over them like I do most of your’s….I respond and write what I choose and as long as it is not threatning it is considered free speech..You do the same and I will be a critic as I choose and stuffit if you don’t like it….I think Eddy is jake….Now kiss your big elephant good night and be gone troll’s….

That would be offensive. Good thing it isn’t true. It would be the LA Times that is at fault in the Magic Negro flap, suggesting that Obama isn’t “black enough.” I thought that had fallen out of fashion as liberals had to admit that it divided blacks. Guess it’s true that everything eventually comes back in fashion again.

It’s increasingly difficult to be tolerant of the wilfully ignorant.
May 20th, 2007 at 1:29 amWhy would I listen to that portion of the population, zxz? It is part of the 28%ers, the dead enders that still follow Bush. There is absolutely no room for significant thought in their tiny minds. I am not very tolerant of the ignorantly stupid.
May 20th, 2007 at 1:32 amBy the way, it is not a large part of the population. 0.33% of the US population is NOT significant.
May 20th, 2007 at 1:35 amAlso, your Fox is so popular meme is tiring and false. CNN blows Fox away in CPM (ad rates) because it actually has MORE viewers unlike Fox that just has the same zombies like you watching for hours at a time.

May 20th, 2007 at 10:43 amSharon,
Wow, you cop to complete intolerance for differing opinions. How open-minded and progressive of you! Do you cover your ears and eyes when you hear someone with an opposing view? Do you agree 100 percent with liberal doctrine? I don’t. (I’m 90 percent doctrinaire liberal, just cause that’s what I am, not because I think I have to hold 100 percent consistent views.)
My initial contribution to this site is expressing my opinion that using childish nicknames is counterproductive and weakens any otherwise intelligent argument. That is not an attack on a poster. It is an opinion about something. Got it?
And by the way, you’re doing an EXCELLENT job of ignoring my posts.

May 20th, 2007 at 2:42 pmIf you examine the ratings, Rush Limpballs is viewed by less than ONE percent of the population.
May 20th, 2007 at 4:43 pmPuh-lease don’t embarass liberals everywhere when it is discovered suddenly, 2 months later, ACCURATELY that the LA Times did in fact run this article and this title and did coin this phrase first.
You will only strengthen the case for ignorance and lack of research that is so apparent in the major network’s “journalistic” pieces.
It’s going to be another “Dan Rather” moment, except this time it will be NBC. “false but accurate anyone.”
This will end badly for NBC’s reputation.

With the exception of maybe two or three posters, the rest of you have done a terrific job of proving how juvenile most liberal ideologues are. Not one of you have made a reasoned argument about Limbaugh’s parody of Obama, much less any argument that uses actual facts. Not. One.
