what with fox and now the wsj offering positive reviews, i’m beginning to wonder what’s in the water… michael moore was the most thoroughly demonized public figure since kerry got swiftboated… what happened…? i’m actually kind of uneasy… it’s almost spooky…
I have seen trailers and MM has plowed a wide field. From what I have seen, he rips everyone – government, drug companies, care providers, insurers, hospitals and more. He even hits on the fact that providers charge more for the uninsured than the insurers pay for the same care – like 50-80% less. It’s going to be a shocker!
#6 – Walt – Regarding the charges that insurers pay – that’s very true.. I had a hip replacement a few years ago and the hospital bill (room only) alone was over $60K – but the insurance paid less than $20K. Most of the other bills were similarly paid – on average about 30% of the billed amount. Of course, an uninsured person would get the full bill. That’s sad.
Aw, now back to your holes and under your rocks you will go and not do anything about anything… that cry felt good didn’t it? You got it out of your system for another, say, 20 years, haven’t you?
You are right Eli, it is traitorous to want health care for every American. That’s a damn unamerican way to think. We in America think that health care is a privilege not a right. If you are not one of the privileged who have health care too bad for you. It’s not our fault. We got ours, and tough for you.
What is traitorous is thinking that health care is a privilege. In every other industrialized nation health care is a right, not a privilege.
To you, Eli, I wish you to lose your job and your health benefits. Then I wish some horrible sickness upon you. Then come back here and say that Michael Moore’s film is traitorous.
#6 and #7. The same goes for prescription drugs. I didn’t have insurance and called around to see how much my prescriptions would cost. One of my prescriptions would cost me $32 for a month’s supply. Then I got insurance. My insurance has a $10 co-pay but I only pay $8.25 for that particular drug. So, if I had walked in with no insurance I would have paid $32. But because I have insurance I pay $8.25. Does that make any sense?
Comment by Kate Henry #10, very well said. #11 I was saying the other day when I took my daughter in for her 5th grade physical, because my insurance doesn’t cover well child care, it cost me $600. If the insurance had covered it their negotiated rate would have probably been somewhere around $180 and I’d have only paid 10%. And everybody with no insurance picks up the difference for negotiated insurance rates.
I read FauxNews’ review with a lot of skepticism, but I couldn’t read anything between the lines. It seemed as if they genuinely liked it.
Or it could be that even they are getting tired of this poor excuse of an administration. After all, the Iraq fiasco hasn’t been all that good for business either.
Our government is a shame!!! 4 lobbyists for every member of congress, illegal aliens smart enough to protest in the street while citizens sit on our butts and allow this…
Eli, the trolls have been so obnoxious around here the last week it’s hard to recognize subtle humor. I think we’re all a little battle fatigued from them post that at first seem like sarcasm but then turn into major disruptions.

This is exactly what I’ve been thinking, the cruelest irony of all. But then I remembered war protests in Los Angeles when I was there that never made it on the news.
I think the protests against Bush are covered up by the msm like when he was unable to walk to his inauguration because people were throwing eggs at him.
Maybe the Weinsteins are pulling in some favors, via their media connections, to get some good press. Their company has had a pretty rocky start since splitting away from Disney. The much anticipated Tarantino/Rodriguez “Grindhouse” was a complete flop. They could use the help.
At a certain point, the elite cabal have to watch each others back when it comes to redistributing the world’s wealth into their own pockets. I would imagine that this might actually override their globalist propaganda machine every now and then, since amassing wealth is also a critical part of the plan.
To you, Eli, I wish you to lose your job and your health benefits. Then I wish some horrible sickness upon you. Then come back here and say that Michael Moore’s film is traitorous.

Patrick, if that’s the best you can do you’ve just exposed yourself as having nothing to say. And I bet if we knew the truth about you we’d be laughing our asses off. Michael Moore is a very successful independent film maker. What about you?
Remember MM’s television show with “Crackers, the corporate crime fighting chicken.” Anyway, I also read that MM anonymously donated $12,000 to his staunchest critic (Moorewatch.com) for an operation his wife needed (but didn’t have the insurance to pay for it). The guy is having a hemorrage about the gift! Moore is a far greater man than I am, and simply gets better and stronger with each movie! I can’t wait to watch it with my wife who is a pharmaceutical rep! What kind of discussion we will have afterwards!
Maybe even Laura Bush with her prescription-filled smile, will shed a tear but the fact is this woman would never let this movie seep into her beautiful mind.
#7, 10 and 11
I pay for my own health insurance and although I have a very high deductible (to keep the premiums low) I benefit from the “negotiated” pricing from the insurance company.
People who have no insurance pay the full charge.
In my opinion that is nothing short of immoral.
I believe the insurance companies have authored the medical care practices in this country. It has probably always been so, but I noted it particularly in the 80’s and it has gotten increasingly worse since then.
We are supposed to be the most advanced country in all the industrialized world, but we have a high infant death rate, a shorter life span, and millions who have no medical care at all. Forget about preventive care. Medical care is a business enterprise, with profit being the equalizer, and the public pays the price.
For a second I thought Think Progress transformed into The Onion but, no, it’s real, and even Fox News (!) is writing ‘fair and balanced’ reviews: “‘Sicko’ Shows Michael Moore’s Maturity as a Filmmaker.” http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,273875,00.html
Anything Moore can do to change the deplorable health care situation in this country is laudable; consider this anecdote concerning our neighbor to the north: A Canadian friend who works for an American company and lives in America, still retains her health care card from Canada.
Although she has insurance from her company, she prefers to go to Canada for treatment whenever possible, especially for routine things such as physicals, dental and eye care. She says the Canadian doctors are much more ‘patient-friendly’ and less likely to prescribe unnecessary pills, tests and surgery.
Back to Michael Moore, I notice that none of his critics on the right bothered to do what he did following Hurricane Katrina — he moved to New Orleans and lived in a tent, helping the Vets for Peace distribute water, food, etc. to the residents. No wonder they hate him so much; he’s not just a loud-mouthed hypocrite.
It’s sick. First you have these SOB’s at False News and the WSJ condemning Moore and saying that there is no health care crisis (just like there is no global warming crisis), and now they want to sing his praises. Unreal. Now let them try to spin this as being the first news outlet to highlight the sick state of US healthcare.
She made a sick comment, and you applauded her for it. It seems some of the progressives here are getting as bad as the trolls.
Flame me, it will prove my point.
Good, now cover the story behind it and stop pretending it doesn’t exist.
The media outlets in this country should be ashamed that Michael Moore is doing their jobs for them…
