Are these, s called Representatives cave-in artists at work or 'Pug-light wannabes?
In any case the tune is lousy and the footwork is no better, this Pelosi/Reid two step show is a crash. Better to cancel it now: Recall/Reelect/force them to resign--whatever it takes to get them gone.

Better to have 10 true Reps than 100 "betrayers".

With a Congress that responds to the 'will of the people' the vocal acknowledgement of the illegal/immorality of this administration in domestic as well as foreign affairs would be made and Impeachment would be 'on the table, under the table or on the floor'-not in the lock box with the filibuster.

As the descent of America to a second rate nation continues, once again we are disappointed by the leadership who promised to make a significant difference. The spin and the illusions once again take precedence over substance. The Democrats again fail to understand what true leadership is and back down to the sick and maniacal Bush. The majority of leaders in Congress are simply spineless.

I finally found this link to Speaker Pelosi's incredulous doubletalk on the Iraq Bill which I heard flabbergasted this morning on Air America. Speaker Pelosi stumbles -- inarticulately at times -- through her comments and then reverses direction midstream starting with her disinclination to vote for an Iraq Bill without timelines, going on to praise the brilliance of this ploy, and then giving herself good cause to vote for it. I feel violated. It's beginning to look like Democrats missed the magic opportunity to turn things around and are well on their way back to the trough of corruption from whence Newt Gingrich, et al., extricated them in 1994.

It's time to follow Senator Mike Gravel's lead with legislation to declare an end to the Iraq conflict, not micromanage through funding. It's also time to start impeachment proceedings against select persons amongst the many people in the executive branch guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors. Look, if we have to suffer our wealth, security, and future for Congress' ratification of the ruination of this country and world, we might as well try to cut our losses by running you folks out of office. Or leave.

What liars and whores.

Rahm Emanuel, et al, are just full of it ! Untrustworthy, double speaking hypocrites. And, Speaker Pelosi is sitting right there on the edge. She should have forcefully stated that she did not support the removal of the timetable for withdrawal in the Bill. Feingold and John Edwards seem to be today's sole heros.

Arnie. gov. of CA did this & Gray Davis was thrown out of office, do this for the good of the people instead of what Arnie did, nothing less will change course.

I just sent this brief email to Pelosi.
Madam Speaker;
Count me among the many (and growing rapidly) voting taxpaying american citizens that are pissed off at the constant caving in to the executive branch. We are tired of watching you all bend over and take it. I guess such bending is easy without a spine. This is not what the election of '06 was meant to convey. The war is illegal. The perpetrators are war criminals. And the democrats are aiding and abetting a criminal act. How do you sleep at night?
No more illegal war, and impeach the criminals running our government. It is your constitutional duty. When the Attorney General commits perjury and is not impeached, when the president ADMITS to breaking the law (FISA unauthorized wiretaps) and boasts that he will continue to do so??? Is that not grounds enough for impeachment? What will it take? Oral sex from an intern?
We deserve better!
An angry Floridian

My wife and I are vets. We are both disabled with MS and are living on a fixed income. We are struggling to raise three children at home in poverty. Illness has brought us low. They took away my medical care so I can't see a doctor any longer or take the meds I need for MS and high blood pressure.

NONE OF THIS, none of my problems are as important as ending the Iraq occupation, restoring constitutional order, having impeachment on the table and stopping war with Iran.

Don't continue the occupation just to try and get some domestic policy victory. Don't sacrifice one for the other.

Prof - SmartA$$ - I loved your poem!!! The only literary problem I detect is the lack of realism - - Harry Reid - a "Colonel"?? Puhleeeze.......Keeping the powder dry??? Anti-war Dems are famous for protecting themselves at all costs. They would sell "grandma" to avoid sometimes necessary confrontation. Dems have been weak and spineless in terms of security and surveillance ..... No need to apologize - - National Security has never been the strong suit of Progs and Dems....(since JFK).

VOTING "NO" IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH
BECAUSE VOTING NO ENSURES PASSAGE

LET THE REPUBLICRATS KNOW WE'VE HAD IT WITH THEIR ANTICS

FILIBUSTER THE IRAQ SPENDING BILL

ALL IT TAKES IS ONE BRAVE SENATOR

(sorry for screaming but I can't believe I'm watching the Democrats cave, in grand fashion, to a President with a 28% approval rating.)

I'm not derailing anything. The minimum wage is part of the bill, so it is up for discussion.

It's been 5 months. Why haven't the Dims passed the minimum wage hike to help the working poor?

Nancy Pelosi is too busy getting her husband Paul the 25 million dollars from her latest bill that was voted on in the middle of the night. Next a nice vacation Europe while things calm down.

Dear Krash - Better wake up - the Dem Party has been neutered......the goal was NOT ending the war (with the exception of Feingold, Murtha, etc.) -- The goal was the attainment of POWER.....

Democratic Presidential Candidates take heed. There are A LOT of rank and file party members - like me - who WILL NOT vote for ANYONE who votes FOR, or supports, this watered down piece of crap legislation.

The Democratic Party was swept into power in 2006 by PEOPLE LIKE ME for the sole purpose of STANDING UP to Bush. If we had wanted another "rubber stamp" Congress, we would have left the GOP in charge.

Its time to KICK Bush's ass, not kiss it.

I'm SHOCKED!!!!!There's spinelessness and pandering going on in the Democrat House??? The architects of the politicization of the war, Emmanuel and Reid, thought no further than gaining power? Who knew??

IF we give the surge and the Iraqi government a chance to squelch this sectarian mess, improvement may occur. If NOT, we can pull out with the knowledge we gave the Iraqis every opportunity to improve their situation and they were unable to do so. If so, their religious and cultural differences failed to advance into the 21st century.

Pelosi and Obey can't spin their way out of this.

It was bad enough that their timetable was toothless in the first place.

Now they have given up even the pretense of trying to end the war.

Their public statements mean nothing if they aren't backed up by actions.

It is time to GO TO your reps LOCAL OFFICES and start asking uncomfortable questions.

Don't make an appointment or dress up, just show up and ask a couple of questions:

When will you end the war? When will you impeach Bush?
You don't have to yell or argue, but when the staffer finishes handing you a hatful of bullshit, simply say, "Do you believe that yourself?"

Our system is profoundly broken when we have to scream and stamp our feet to get our elected representatives to actually represent us. Before we can fix it, we need to make these steaming sacks of shit in neckties fear us more than Wall Street or the corporations whose boards they hope to sit on when they leave Congress.

Find their office and go.

FIND YOUR REPRESENTATIVE

NOW Iraq WILL become Vietnam. Look for upwards of a quarter of a million troops sent into perhaps a decade of senseless slaughter. Incumbents of BOTH parties are protected by gerrymandering—WE the PEOPLE are stuck with people.

We need to END GERRYMANDERING so we can VOTE OUT OFFICIALS who DEFY THE CONSTITUTION AND THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.

Here's an idea...perhaps for moveon.org to promote: WE THE PEOPLE withhold a total of $120 billion from our taxes...because WE didn't authorize this spending bill. In fact, we voted out the Democrats to end the war. They failed. We won't go along. Let the politicians send THEIR CHILDREN to DEATH and PAY FOR IT with THEIR MONEY.
