Education Secretary Margaret Spellings last night became the first Bush cabinet member to appear on the Daily Show. Jon Stewart gave her a pop quiz: “Alberto Gonzales is to ‘I don’t recall’ as trees are to sunshine, oxygen, or I don’t recall…?”
Watch her response:
All of a sudden I’m not so horny anymore.
May 23rd, 2007 at 3:08 amShe is worthless.
May 23rd, 2007 at 3:22 amI liked to shove a CAT Test up her nose.

May 23rd, 2007 at 4:51 amAll Bush cabinet members are clueless jerks, so they all are worthless!

May 23rd, 2007 at 6:44 amUS Theft of Iraq’s Oil: On House Floor Wednesday Morning
WASHINGTON DC – WEDNESDAY, MAY 23, 2007 – At approximately 11:00 a.m. today, Congressman Dennis Kucinich will invoke a rarely used procedure to offer a privileged motion claiming one hour of time to speak on the floor of the House of Representatives about current legislative plans to privatize Iraq’s oil. This will be the first time in Congress that there has been a full discussion of the covert efforts to accomplish privatization of Iraq’s oil through the supplemental spending bill.

May 23rd, 2007 at 8:05 amBG Group to Supply Gaza Gas to Israel
This is a really hot political potato. The British BG Group is poised to agree the terms of an historic $4 billion deal to supply Palestinian gas to Israel from a discovery off the Gaza coastline.
Representatives from BG are due to thrash out a 15-year contract with the Israeli Cabinet next week. Despite the violence in Gaza, the Israeli Foreign Ministry has insisted that it wants to conclude a deal “as soon as possibleâ€.
May 23rd, 2007 at 8:07 amUS Congress Targets OPEC
The US Congress has voted to brand OPEC’s efforts to control world oil prices illegal.
And with support of the legislation strong in the Senate as well, President Bush could soon be thrust into the unenviable position of siding with OPEC producers at a time of painfully high gasoline prices in the US.

Iran, Iraq coordinating in OPEC to control price of oil: Iraqi minister

May 23rd, 2007 at 8:09 am‘Hands Off Iraqi Oil’ – letter from the US AntiWar Movement to Pelosi and Reid
May 18, 2007
The Honorable Nancy Pelosi
The Honorable Harry Reid
United States Congress
Dear Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid,
We recognize and applaud your escalating efforts to bring peace to Iraq and to bring our troops home. However, we are concerned about the proposed Iraqi hydrocarbon law and the benchmark in the Iraq supplemental urging the Iraqi government to pass this law as soon as possible.
Americans are counting on your efforts in Congress to end the war and bring the troops home in a way that rebuilds the credibility of our nation and reaffirms America.s position as a force for freedom and democracy in the world. However, if Democrats are perceived to be advocating withdrawal only after access to Iraqi oil has been assured this will do little to reassure critics.
The proposed Iraqi Oil Law will open up Iraq to international oil companies for the first time in decades, and potentially rob the Iraqis of billions of dollars. We are therefore joining Hasan Jum.a Awad, Head of the Iraqi Federation of Oil Unions urging you .not to link withdrawal with the oil law..1
As you know, Iraq has at least 115 billion barrels of known oil reserves – 10 per cent of the world total. Oil accounts for more than 70 per cent of Iraq.s GDP and 95 per cent of government revenue.

How will Iraq pay its war debt then since Gulf War 1? How will we get our 500 BILLION back?
May 23rd, 2007 at 8:16 amDid he ask about the student loan kickback operation? Did he ask about the Reading First kickback program?
May 23rd, 2007 at 8:25 amSaywho > no Oil revenue profits from Iraq are going to be repaid to the US government, nor American taxpayers, but Oil corporation CEOs are going to make tons of money.
May 23rd, 2007 at 8:26 amDid he ask about kickbacks in the student loan program? Did he ask about kickbacks in the Reading First program? These items are under her supervision, such as it is.
May 23rd, 2007 at 8:26 amunfortunately the daily show cameras cut away too soon, but her reaction to stewart’s quip about getting rid of the teacher’s union was very revealing — she could barely refrain from high-fiving him at the thought…
May 23rd, 2007 at 8:37 amYesterday this website got news from the Simpsons. Today it is the daily show. And you people make fun of FOX news?
ROTFL
May 23rd, 2007 at 8:49 amI seen this last night, she’s the first Bushie to go on Stewart. In her own words the interview didn’t start of too bad, but,of course, by the end she was toasted. Stewart asked her if clobbering the teachers union was how to fix the system. I could’nt believe she was trying to defend the administrations record on education. Wow.
May 23rd, 2007 at 8:53 amNeal, he did burn her on the student loan scam.
May 23rd, 2007 at 8:54 amhappy guy — being the fox viewer that he is, doesn’t know that the daily show viewers are more informed than regular cable news viewers. and considerably more informed than fox ‘news’ viewers.
May 23rd, 2007 at 8:54 amfoKKKs “news” consumers are ‘lookers’. Viewing and watching require a modicum of active participation, while “looking” only takes opening up your very limited cranial recesses and absorbing the talking points, utter bullshit, and T&A. The graphics and sound which I just heard described as catering the the WWF crowd drive the crap home, to pack the little limited- capacity “brains” of the lookers with their daily bullshit fix.
May 23rd, 2007 at 9:06 amTruly, it is a marvel of propaganda when reduced to the technical level.
Odd that so many can be fooled, but no one ver said the masses weren’t happy being dumb and dependant.
Someday soon the DOE will have the lights turned on and it will be very interesting who is getting rich off those programs. This “leader” will probably say she knew nothing about “that” or “I don’t recall” over and over and over again.

Thanks Jay. I assure you I was attempting to be sarcastic with that post but unlike the Sun, I don’t shine that much in the morning. That being said none of it matters much since the USA will enter a “New Everlasting Depression” by the fall now that the housing bubble break is compounded by energy prices that reflect the true supply.
What so many people here don’t realize is that a majority of the oil imported to the US was supplied from a well system in Saudi Arabia called “Ghawar.” This oil field is now in permanent decline and when you study what is happening there (Ghawar) the picture spells doom to the US economy. (See it for yourself)
http://www.theoildrum.com/node/2563
Call it anything you like however Ghawar was responsible for around 26% of the oil imported into the USA. During Ghawar’s peak it produced 10.4 mbd of light sweet crude. The rub is that this field now produces about 8 mb/d of heavy sour crude. The fact is that refining one barrel of light sweet crude oil (42 gallons) produces less than 19 gallons of gasoline. Since all that is coming in is heavy sour crude that figure when corrected is more like 5 gallons.
This is why we invaded Mesopotamia again (first time in WW1) since they have some light crude available. If there were a solution other than helping ourselves to the resources you can bet every cent that we would all be in the throes of that solution. The truth is that the situation is so severe that the military has decided to use force.
They (the military) will claim that this is anything else except the last resort that it is. Things in the USA hurt now, since our daily Saudi imports have been quartered by dwindling supply and falling quality of oil. Would you expect Bush & Co. to just come out and admit that our way of living counted on Iraq’s oil being taken? Imagine what would happen if Bush came clean.
Sure it would be a criminal act but the next shoe to fall would be the total destruction of the entire US economy. It comes down to demand destruction and then rationing in the US. Rural and suburban locations will be the hardest hit however any possible recovery would require replacing the missing oil from Saudi Arabia or an act of God.
Pick your poison.
The party is OVER
