Special Counsel report rips into Doan.

Special Counsel report rips into Doan.

We noted yesterday that the Office of Special Counsel had found that GSA chief Lurita Doan violated federal law when she had her underlings view a partisan PowerPoint presentation and then discuss ways the agency could help Republican candidates. Government Executive has new details from this “sharply worded” Special Counsel report. For example, at one point, “Doan told investigators that she did not pay attention to the PowerPoint slide presentation on the 2006 elections” because:

she dislikes PowerPoint presentations; she was uninterested in the topic; she does not care about polls; and, she felt the presentation had nothing to do with her or what she does on a daily basis at GSA. Lastly, Administrator Doan testified that she was on her Blackberry … reviewing emails … and only periodically looked up and down.

But investigators report that Doan contributed $226,000 to Republican candidates and Republican organizations and asked Doan why she contributed to candidates and organizations when “she does not care about polls or election results. Doan responded by testifying that the contributions had been ‘taken out of context.’”

Well, the contributions were taken, nonetheless,
it remains for Lurita (love that name, it is so, so… trashy) to illuminate us as to what the context really was…

“Why yes your honor, the 250 dollars I paid to man who grows marijuana in his garage was a political donation that’s been taken out of context.”

“Why, I can explain that your honor. The money I donated to the package store was for research purposes only. I was doing a study of the effects of drinking and driving, so that’s been taken out of context.”

“Well, your honor, to quote Ms. Goodling, ‘I didn’t think I was breaking the law, I thought it was what Jesus wanted me to do.’”

“Taken out of context”??? Have these people grown so dependent on their stock flimsy excuses that they don’t even listen to themselves anymore?

What the hell kind of “context” does over $225,000 in political contributions need?

$226,000 worth of donations to republicans was ‘taken out of context’? uh, yeah, sure, uh ok. that’s insulting. their base is dumb enough to swallow that tripe. the rest of us are not. i may have given her the benefit of the doubt had it been $226 but two-hundred and twenty six THOUSAND dollars? i need to start following her around cause it sounds like money just falls out of her pockets. “oops, i think i just lost $10k. again! oh well….easy come easy go”.

  15. ManipulationNation says:

Ms. Doan, what would be the proper context of $226,000 in donations to the Republican Party when you don’t care about polls or election results?
