Yeah, I'm sure Americans are just begging to hand Iraq over to Al Qaeda. I guess that little nuance somehow didn't make it into the poll question.

Of course we'd like to leave as soon as possible. We wanted to get out of every war as quickly as possible. The question is under what circumstances.

Dennis Kucinich has been, "against the war since day zero....", and UNLIKE Ron Paul, he has ALSO been steadfastly CORRECT on all the other issues important to Progressives!

I sent the following message to Gov. Dean and the Democratic National Committee:

Imagine you are the Chair of the Rebublican National Committee (RNC) (DON'T ROLL YOUR EYES; DO IT!):

Now, imagine a major vote comes up in U.S. House of Representatives, and the Republican Majority Leader, the Chair of the Repulican Congressional Campaign Committee, and 84 additional Republicans vote with the Democratic minority, causing the Republicans to LOSE the vote,in SPITE of the fact that a large majority of the American citizens AGREED with the Republican side of the issue!

You can't imagine it, can you?

Unbelievable, isn't it?

NO IT'S NOT!

IT JUST HAPPENED!

However, YOU are the Chair of the DEMOCRATIC National Committee!

The MAJOR vote was on H.R. 2206 and 86 DEMOCRATIC members of the House did what you couldn't IMAGINE the Republicans doing! They VOTED WITH THE REPUBLICANS and APPROVED the Supplemental that keeps the occupation, the troop and non-combatant Iraqi deaths and casualties, and the destruction of Iraq GOING until September 30, 2007!

The Senate was WORSE! Only 14 Senators voted against H.R. 2206. THREE of them were REPUBLICANS, and ONE was an Independent who votes with the Democrats! The Democratic Majority Leader JOINED the Republicans!

NOW, what would the Chair of the RNC do to the offending Representatives and Senators of the Republican Party?

GO YE THEREFORE AND DO YE LIKEWISE!

NOW!!

Here is WHO to do IT to:

HOUSE

Democratic Representatives Altmire, Andrews, Baca, Baird, Barrow, Bean, Berkley, Berry, Bishop (GA), Boren, Boswell, Boucher, Boyd (FL), Boyda (KS), Butterfield, Cardoza, Carney, Chandler, Clyburn, Cooper, Costa, Cramer, Cuellar, Davis (CA), Lincoln Davis, Dicks, Dingell, Donnelly, Edwards, Ellsworth, Emanuel (Chair, DCCC), Etheridge, Giffords, Gillibrand, Gonzalez, Gordon, Gene Green, Herseth Sandlin, Hill, Hinojosa, Holden, Hoyer (Majority Leader!), Kagen, Kanjorski, Kildee, Kind, Lampson (The Hammer's replacement, *gag*), Larsen (WA), Levin, Lipinski, Mahoney (FL), Marshall, Matheson, McIntyre, Meek (FL), Melancon, Mitchell, Mollohan, Moore (KS), Murtha, Ortiz, Peterson (MN), Pomeroy, Rahall, Reyes, Rodriguez, Ross, Ruppersberger, Salazar, Schwartz, Scott (GA), Sestak, Shuler, Skelton, Snyder, Space, Spratt, Stupak, Tanner, Taylor, Thompson (MS), Udall (CO), Visclosky, Walz (MN), Wasserman Schultz, and last, but not least, Wilson (OH).

SENATE

Just thank Democratic Sens. Boxer*, Clinton, Dodd, Feingold*, Kennedy*, Kerry, Leahy*, Obama**, Whitehouse, and Wyden*. Then do to the REST of the Democratic Senators what you do to the Democratic Representative turncoats!

NOTE: You might want to thank Senator Sanders***, and the three Republicans****, too!

Of course, you don't have to thank Sen. LIEberman for ANYTHING! {:-)

IF YOU GUYS AREN'T ANGRY ABOUT THE WAY THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS CARRYING OUT ITS RESPONSIBILITY TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, YOU MUST BE DEAD!!

* These FIVE of the 14 voted AGAINST the invasion of Iraq.

** Senator Obama is on record OPPOSING the vote to invade, though not in the Senate at the time.

*** Sen. Sanders voted AGAINST the invasion while a member of the House.

**** If you think ANY of the Republicans opposed the invasion of Iraq, think again!

I wrote my Democratic senators, Stabinow and Levin, about their support for the occupation of Iraq and Bush's plans to convert that nation into a permanent American military base.

The Iraq invasion and occupation gives aid and comfort to America's enemies and has spawned world-wide hatred of our country. The consequences have been terrible, but likely, worse is to come.

Democratic treachery (re: Iraq Supplental Funding) will also have consequences, I hope. In Michigan, we need to start a netroots pledge drive to attract and fund our own Ned LaMont who will rid us of Levin in next year's primary. For Stabenow, why not a recall? It worked in California.

I attempted to read this poll in the original, and it seems that the Times has decided that it now links to a poll on the proposed immigration law. You guys might want to correct this.

There is only one way to end the war, now that the Dems have proven themselves to be no different than the enabling Republicans.

It is time for WE THE PEOPLE to exercise our Constitutional rights to assemble in Washington, D.C. and in particular in front of and around the White House, Congressional buildings, the Supreme Court and the Pentagon.

We have the right to indefinitely occupy our government buildings, shut them down, and order our representatives in the government and the military to end the illegal occupation in Iraq.

If we do not march on D.C. soon, then WE THE PEOPLE will own the war too!

This holiday weekend looks like a very good time to start our peaceful assembly and occupation to show them that they are not the boss of us, we are the boss of them!

It's really sad that a blithering buffoon like Lieberman can hold us all hostage.

However, there's a downside for him: if he flips, he immediately loses all his seniority and goes to being the junior GOP senator from CT.

And frankly, I don't think he'd be willing to give up all the goodies just to become a Republican.

<strong>"I use it to describe lefties for the very reason that it is meaningless."</strong> - beefeater

It seems you find at least <em>some </em>meaning in what lefties say and do if you are going to all the bother to read and post on TP and to propagate terminology picked especially for them.

I therefore deduce that your rationalization for using the word is admirably inventive, but bogus.

The corollary is that if you really find no meaning to TP, the above should have been your final post here, because surely nobody with wisdom would waste their time posting on a site that is meaningless.

I like that term too. I use it to describe lefties for the very reason that it is meaningless. I find that when a person has to resort to foul language or sexual innuendo it many times indicates an intellectual deficiency. Like McCain. He showed himself to be nothing but an angry old man with his outburst.

The democrats really dropped the ball on the Iraq war spending bill sent to the president. At the very least they could have bargined for a retraction of the tax bill that would have recindid the tax cuts for the top 2% of wage earners. They will never learn.

Gene: "But we won’t make a ny progress until we apply our minds to figuring out WHY they’re so chicken."

There have been stories which indicate that Lieberman has threatened to turn Republican if Dems go too hard on the war. If Lieberman turned Republican, they would have the majority in the Senate, and all investigations would be shut down.

It's all very well to come down heavy on the DEMOCRATS. They certainly deserve it. But we won't make a ny progress until we apply our minds to figuring out WHY they're so chicken.

They know the public sentiment. They don't need a poll to tell them. Yet they always back down when the pressure's on. WHY?

Could it have something to do with ties to the oil industry? Could it have something to do with ties to capitalism?

A majority of Americans continue to support a timetable for withdrawal. Sixty-three percent say the United States should set a date for withdrawing troops from Iraq sometime in 2008.

Representatives in Congress, with more information about the conflict, disagree.

I like this term "moonbat". It seems to have no meaning at all, a word not found in dictionaries but apparently invented by Robert Heinlein to describe the third stage of a multi-stage rocket. It appears to be an attempt at witty insult, but fails miserably as the root words "moon" and "bat" are not offensive, although the similar words "lunatic" and "batty" might have been effectively conjoined as "lunibatty" or "battylune", this seems to have been beyond the intellectual tool chest of the crazed right wing zealots who have embraced the term.

Unfortunately for their cause, all the brilliant conjoined insults have already been appropriated for use against them. One of many examples is the well-known "f*cktard", based on the root words of "f*cking" and "retard", each of which perfectly describes the target audience, rendering the combination doubly accurate.
