CM- Micheal Moore does NOT support the Iraq war, nor do millions of other Americans(including me). Supporters of the war are not in any great hurry to fight in Iraq, but decry any effort to end it. You are trying to compare apples to oranges. BIG difference.

erock. Here’s the idea. If Iraq could be stabilized, with democratic forces more in control of the country, Iraq could serve as an alternative form of government, with more of the freedoms for its people (that we consider inalienable) in the middle east, than the more prevalent fundamentalist Islamic theocracies that currently exist.

But its becoming painfully clear that it cannot be stabilized. How many more surges will it take? Not only that, but based on other democracies in the region, the Iraqi people are likely to elect themselves a theocratic leader and build their government around Sharia law thus producing another Iran.

Uncle Ho. erock makes a good point. for example michael moore opposes the war in iraq, but he understands that he can have more impact making a movie (like F 9/11) then if he could somehow get into the greenzone with explosives strapped to his body.

The morning of the mission three weeks ago that killed my brother, his squadron, of which he was the leader, was exhausted beyond belief. They weren't getting any sleep at all, twenty minutes here and there, and frequently just "rested" during their precious downtime until it was time to go out and Bring Democracy To Iraq again.

I am haunted by the idea that my brother's Humvee hit the IED because Andy was too tired to really drive. He volunteered for the mission because one of his men was so tired and was feeling sick. Andy was a full-time Humvee driver during his first deployment and knew his way around the Iraqi roads. But with the nonstop exhaustion, I have to wonder if my brother was simply off his game that day due to tiredness and being just plain worn out.

By the way, one of the soldiers in the Humvee who survived was basically cut in half. He lost his left leg, left arm, left eye, and has a huge metal plate in the left side of his head.

I've said it before, but I don't care for this "if you love the war so much then go and fight it" kneejerk argument. There are a lot of reasons why someone in support of a war would better serve the effort by staying here at home. Besides, it doesn't do anything to refute the validity of the war which I think is what we should focus on.

For instance, war supporters have trouble explaining what, if any, difference there will be between leaving Iraq now or leaving four years from now with respect to the loss of Iraqi life from the resulting civil war. It seems to me that all we are doing is needlessly murdering and crippling, both psychologically and physically, a great deal of our armed forces. Any refutation from the right?

Trolls- you are awfully damn brave hiding behind your keyboards proclaiming that you support the troops & support the war. If you truly support the war you should join the army and fight IN Iraq. You call yourselves patriots but don't have the balls to put your body where your mouth is. Time to put up or STFU!

patrick1; In my day, a 13 month tour in Vietnam was more than enough. I really feel bad for the poor guys who are having to endure multiple tours. IF they survive this debacle, they will suffer mentally for the rest of their lives. I know. They will NEVER be the same again. You should give that some thought.

OleHippieChick. I don't see myself as Kleenex and my value is not set by someone else. I'm free to do what I want with my life. I don't blame someone else for my problems and I don't look to someone else for my identity. I know you don't either. The difference is, I don't believe that the rights we have and the freedoms we enjoy should be taken for granted. I believe that if you choose not to defend you freedom, it will be taken from you. Appeasing fundamentalist Islam creates a void that incrementally threatens your liberty.

P.S. I dig hippie chicks (old and new). Noone wants to see you trade in your tie dye shirts for black burkas. (except Islamic fundamentalists, of course).

Ohhh, FASCIST VIRUS is back.

Tell us:

WHY did Bush and Cheney REFUSE TO TESTIFY UNDER OATH to the 9/11 Commission?

i.e. SWEAR TO GOD TO TELL THE TRUTH about their involvement with 9/11, the Bin Ladens and the Saudi TERRORIST FINANCIERS of Al Queda?

TRAITOR Reagan testified (Iran/Contra), as did Clinton (Monica L.), so “executive privilege” is bullzhit as PRECEDENT has ben set…

The answer is, of course, that Bush and Cheney are Saudi OIL WHOREBAGS and TRAITORS to the USA and what it USED to be.

Halliburton just “completed work” in Iran about 2 months ago.

The Saudis are FINANCING Al Queda, and TRAITOR Bush is THEIR azzlicker.

The great sacrifices of our armed forces have managed to secure the most profitible year in history for the oil industry. Kudos, troops.

I guess we rather want to believe the big lie of spreading ‘freedom and democracy’ by means of sending Apaches then facing the facts that these wars in the end are meant to serve our material interests, nothing more.

Good luck in 2008 when choosing a new president.

You should renounce materialism and relieve yourself of all your possesions---starting with your computer.

Katie, your right. This is too hard, we should probably give up. What color burka are you going to get? Oh, that's right. You won't have a choice.

dumb people, dumb presidents, dumb wars. It doesn't get easier than that.

Bottom line this is just another war to keep the Empire US going on a little longer and to have the People drink the Kool-Aid a little longer before Depression II kicks in.

If you may choose between your luxury life and the current Iraq war or living within your means and much less luxury and higher energy prices, I could understand you would choose to remain ignorant of filty wars far away from the US (or the rest of the Western states), deliberately or not.

“I can’t. I won’t. I won’t load another body onto that chopper. I can’t. I won’t.”

And if he refuses, they will no doubt court martial him. This is really disgusting. These men are going to be scarred for life. The mental health crisis we will be facing with these soldiers will make Viet Nam look like a cakewalk.

Yea...we know it....Bush supports our troops.
