Protesters barred from Cheney’s speech.
“A federal appeals court on Friday denied an organization permission to stage an antiwar demonstration on Saturday on the grounds of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where Vice President Dick Cheney is to deliver the commencement address. The court said the mere presence of the vice president does not turn West Point into a public forum and is not an ‘open invitation’ to about 1,000 protesters who had hoped to march onto the campus.”

All of the discussion about the dismissal of the United States Attorneys revolved around them allegedly not investigatiing instances of voter fraud. And all of that voter fraud was supposedly by Democrats. Yet nobody has said a word about the US Attorneys not lifting a finger to investigate the voter fraud that happened in 2000 (Florida comes to mind) or in 2004 (Ohio precincts with 175 percent voter turn out comes to mind) that contributed directly to us having the Chimp in office today.
If there was any firing that was supposed to happen because people were not investigating voter fraud it should have been investigation of the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on the American public in its history. And the perpetrator of that perpetration has 605 more days remaining to live in our house on Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington DC

At least these West Pointers can look forward to serving the majority of their time after Bush has left office. Judging from your comment you seem to think that anything that is not "an open forum" is necessarily a "government entity". This is not the case.
In fact, some outlets which you seem to call "government entities" are occasionally publically utilized as "open forums" (e.g. a town meeting).
Further, there are plenty of non-open forums which, indeed, are not "government entities" either. This is the catagory of most Universities in America. Although they are not directly regulated in every action by the govt, and hence are not "government entities", it is still at their discretion weither or not to allow a protest.

Remember, the original Iraq Funding Supplemental had MORE money than Bush asked for, and he vetoed it.

I seriously doubt that they want to listen to him. It is more likely that attending has been made mandatory. If Bush and/or Chaney every showed their ugly faces in public where the event wasn't totally controlled, they would not be able to stand up to the heat they would be given. They are both chicken shit cowards. Clinton appeared in public numerous times and he never stopped people from their rights to free speech, even when he was being persecuted for a blow-job. But, that's because Clinton is a man not a weenie like Bush.

The Army refused permission, a federal judge in White Plains agreed, and on Friday the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit refused to issue a preliminary injunction that would allow the march.
But the three-judge panel disagreed, saying the protesters had misunderstood the way the First Amendment applies inside a military base.
"Although the vice president is a political figure, he is also an incumbent official in the United States government," the court wrote. "As such, his mere presence on campus to address members of the United States military on their graduation day does not convert the West Point campus into a public forum; nor does it serve as an open invitation for 1,000 or more outsiders to engage in freewheeling and potentially distracting (if not disruptive) acts of political expression."
The judges determined that free speech doesn't apply inside a military base - they said nothing about universities or town hall meetings. There's my "logic" - and it seems more convincing than yours.

Not at all, m'boy! I prepose that the event contributes to the context of the situation just as much as the location. Here the event is a commencement ceremony, and I contend that the students deserve a peaceful context for this landmark occasion in the lives.
This is no place for an open political protest, however, if the students themselves would like to protest (e.g. UMass) that is a different story, for then it would be a protest against the unwanted presence of the VP at the commencement.

See if that reasoning gets ya onto a military base. Terrorists who are living in the U.S. are paying taxes, too. Does that give them the right to have access to military installations? You don't want any form of national ID. Again, good for terrorists. How are you going to make sure terrorists aren't among your protestors? Wouldn't that just be a terrorist's dream to walk onto a military campus escorted by loonie liberal American protestors. How do ya think that would play on al Jazeera, bud? Protest all you want. People who have a reason for being there have to enter and exit the campus don't they? They'll still have to drive by your signs. You just won't be able to disrupt the graduation. Oddly enough, most folks wouldn't consider disrupting the graduation to be supporting the troops. And liberals have done a fair job so far of claiming to support the troops.
