On his Sunday night radio program, Matt Drudge blasted Keith Olbermann as a “phony,” calling him “complete and utter camp.”
Drudge — the operator of the right-wing pseudo news site Drudge Report — was talking about the Venezuelan government’s shutdown of the country’s oldest private TV station when he veered the discussion into a hit piece on Olbermann. “When we start hearing that the National Guard is seizing television stations, alright then I’m on board,” Drudge said. “Then I’m on board, Olbermann. Until then, it’s all pancake, makeup, and Edward R. Murrow ‘good night and good luck’ and…complete and utter camp.”
“What’s being peddled over there at MSNBC” is “phony — phony lights, phony music, and everything there,” said Drudge, an Internet gossip who frolics in “the most salacious aspects of American politics.”
In 1998, Matt Drudge ran a TV series on Fox. Olbermann said at the time that Drudge “has gone from being an idiot with a modem to an idiot with a modem and a television show on the most irresponsible network in America.”
Transcript:
DRUDGE: When we start hearing that the National Guard is seizing television stations, alright then I’m on board. Then I’m on board, Olbermann. Until then, it’s all pancake, makeup, and Edward R. Murrow good night and good luck and all… you know. Camp. Camp! That’s the right word to describe what’s being peddled over there at MSNBC. Complete and utter camp.
OLBERMANN (voice over): “Good night and good luck.”
DRUDGE: And some people are taking it seriously because they think it’s on TV so it has to be real. Please. And then they take off the hair, they take off the teeth, and they peel the face off — and then it’s you know, it’s all this phony — phony lights, phony music, and everything there.
Drudge really went out on a limb.
May 29th, 2007 at 10:42 amYou’re looking in a mirror Drudge, you incompetent fool.
Take off that stupid hat…
May 29th, 2007 at 10:43 ammy hubby says that guys who get their pictures taken with a hat on indoors are trying to hide baldness.
May 29th, 2007 at 10:46 amHa ha
Olberman scares the bejebbus out of the right. Good for him. Drudge, soon you will be just as impotent, and irrelevant as the rest of the right wing talking heads.
May 29th, 2007 at 10:47 amDrudge commenting on Olbermann is a lot like Bush commenting on Carter.
May 29th, 2007 at 10:49 amIf you Wiki him, he is just some loser who got lucky once, got a following and has been struggling to be important ever since.

May 29th, 2007 at 10:51 amBREAKING!!!
DRUDGE NEWS FLASH: Men on News Programs wear make-up!!!
SHOCKING!!!
Drudge is quite literally, a tool (of the right wing noise machine)
May 29th, 2007 at 10:51 amWhy would anybodywith with even an ounce of brains pay any attention to anything Drudge says??? There is apparently a lot of people in this world with less than an ounce of brains! That is scarey… I agree the hat is stupid….I would love to see him go one on one with Keith in a debate of the issues… That would be a show to watch. Keith would destroy him..
May 29th, 2007 at 10:53 amHow can lights be phony?
May 29th, 2007 at 10:54 amMatt Drudge, the Joan Rivers of cyberspace.
May 29th, 2007 at 10:54 amAfraid of Olbermann???? LOL..that is like being afraid of the guy on the local cable access channel. Let him get some viewers first then we will talk.
May 29th, 2007 at 10:55 amThis jackass wears a fedora and suspenders (I’m surprised he doesn’t sport a “Roscoe”, and keep a bottle of cheap Rye on his desk). He has all of his promo shots done in black and white. All of this for the sole purpose of giving himself a film noir, Sam Spade look. He has the utter audacity to cast aspersions at Keith Olbermann.
Complete and utter camp?
Drudge: You are a self-made cartoon. In a twisted sense of the phrase, you are also a “hard-boiled Dick”.
May 29th, 2007 at 10:55 amWell, if anyone should know about phonies, it’s Drudge.
May 29th, 2007 at 10:57 amDrudge has a radio show? Who knew.
Why would anyone pay attention to that bootlicking piece of sh!t?
May 29th, 2007 at 10:57 amDrudge has a right to his own opinion. No matter how full of crap he is. But he doesn’t have a right to his own facts. KO reports facts and then discusses with his opinion interjected.
A man with a 50’s fedora is calling KO camp. Can’t take that, or him, serious.

May 29th, 2007 at 11:02 amPatrick1,
Olbermann is the second-highest rated political talk show on teevee, after O’Reilly.
He beats Tucker Carlson, Chris Matthews, Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, and Glenn Beck.
AND he can explain the difference between a nickel package and a nickel-linebacker defense.
May 29th, 2007 at 11:05 amAnother self-loathing gay propagandist propping up the radical right. Yawn.
May 29th, 2007 at 11:06 amI must admit I don’t think much of Mr. Drudge…
Pioneer of the “New Media” my foot. He simply publishes tabloid-level journalism online and that somehow gives him crudibility with the right… Perhaps because they don’t truly understand (and in their heart, fear) the “New Media”…

May 29th, 2007 at 11:07 amWho’s Matt Drudge and why does anyone care what he thinks?
May 29th, 2007 at 11:07 amMatt Fudgepacker has been sleeping with his own DNA stained blue dress for close to 10 years now
May 29th, 2007 at 11:12 amWow, a right-wing, anti-gay closeted homosexual calling someone else a phony.
A flaming queen in a fedora calling someone else “camp”.
I can’t figure out if this is more ironic or tragic.

May 29th, 2007 at 11:16 amThere once was a fellow named Drudge
May 29th, 2007 at 11:17 amWho couldn’t get out of the sludge
When speaking his mind
Not a word could could he find
That described himself better than drudge
Anyone seen Bertolucci’s “The Conformist”? Drudge is just like that sorry sap. Matt Drudge is another secret homosexual who strongly supports authoritarianism, whose efforts to sublimate his sexual desire morph into a sick desire to repress freedom for all. He’s a crawling bag of fear.
May 29th, 2007 at 11:17 amJJ, did you say “with his own DNA stained blue dress”, or did you mean to say, “IN his own DNA stained blue dress”? Just fact-checking here.

May 29th, 2007 at 11:21 amDrudge is just angry because Olbermann has the looks for television and Drudge has the looks for radio. And in showbiz, that is a huge deal.

AC: Great movie, good simile.
May 29th, 2007 at 11:24 amkaty,
Since you asked:
A nickel package puts five defensive backs (cornerbacks and safeties) on the field, instead of four. This means you have one less linebacker or defensive lineman.
In a nicke-linebacker package, you put five linebackers on the field (instead of the usual four or three), leaving just two down linemen.
Olberman got started as a sports radio figure.
May 29th, 2007 at 11:25 amDoes the constant banter between reporters really, REALLY matter? Regarding the shutdown of Venezuela’s oldest TV station, I think alll forms of censorship lead to disaster. But this could be a case of out with the old and in with the new and shiny. There’s no cause for alarm until there seems to be a trend of shutting things off. The Internet will be the next target for censure and it will impode on itself next, you watch.
Some people protest too much. A tempest in a teapot springs to mind.

Coral

Does the moron really believe that countries become Police States overnight? Countries become Police States one small, almost insignificant, “security necessity” at a time, long before it all comes crushing down. By the time Drudge “is willing to get on board”, IT’S TOO LATE.
Idiot.

The most articulate man on television. Period. Also, I want to have his illegitimate love child. But that’s a topic of discussion for another thread.
May 29th, 2007 at 12:08 pmLet’s see…
Olbermann uses FACTS in his news.
Drudge uses gossip, rumor, innuendo…
Yeah, tough choice on who is a REAL News Man…
Olbermann is a PATRIOT.
Drudge is another fake “news” entertainer like Rush, Coulter, Hannity, and foxnews…
May 29th, 2007 at 12:09 pmDrudge you are a idiot. Olbermann would wipe the floor with your right wing dribble. Yes you do have on occasion some good stories but you are very slanted toward the right. So your attack on Mr. Olbermann is pure jealously. And please get rid of that hat you sir are not true reporter, so the hat does not make you one.
May 29th, 2007 at 12:11 pmWhen Matt Drudge calls Edward R. Murrow “camp”, he hasn’t gone out on a limb, he has crossed the line into irrevelevance, along with other right wings harpies like Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, and O’Reilly.
May 29th, 2007 at 12:12 pmDrudge is not an Idiot.
His ability to misrepresent the facts, entertain and stupify his audience shows high aptitude.
And in wingnutland, that’s the only aptitude required.
May 29th, 2007 at 12:13 pmSeriously…
What I find so refreshing these days is that Sludge, O’LIEly and cohorts as well as their masters, the neocons at the white house, used to be taken “seriously” every time they opened their mouths. Today everything the wingnuts say is laughed at by everyone but the 28%ers. (Gives new meaning to “seriously” doesn’t it trollies?) Their right wing “reality” of WMDs, mushroom clouds and orange alerts, purple fingers and the surge, is seen as fantasy and delusion at best, and deceitful or incompetent at worst.
Reality is “the devil” to the believer. How sweet it is.
Good morning trollies! Hey Pee1, did you have a nice meeting in the “troll locker room” over at the “West Hollywood Gym for Men”? Rumor has it Drudge was the featured speaker today. He sure pulled your chain about Olberman didn’t he. You sure are going to bat for him today. I guess he is one of your heroes, huh? Too bad he is such a loser. Well, as long as you had a good time, who am I to criticize. Birds of a feather, you know…
May 29th, 2007 at 12:28 pmDrudge, with his contrived Walter Winchell persona replete with hat (suspenders?) calling Olbermann a phony?
May 29th, 2007 at 12:29 pmDrudge has always tried to emulate another purveyor of gossip, Walter Winchell, right down to the hat. In his declining years, Winchell became a parody of himself. Drudge seems intent upon going down that same road.

May 29th, 2007 at 12:34 pmhopefully Olbermann will give this no mention at all. Drudge is no more than a gossip gatherer who follows the Fox line–distract distract distract the masses from what’s really important—shine the spotlight over there so as to keep the “people” off guard.
May 29th, 2007 at 12:35 pmDrudge is a like a bad vaudeville-era joke with a worse punchline struggling, like Ann Coulter, to have us all notice him. Too bad he can’t pull his dress up over his head, always works for Ann.
Matt Drudge was the father of faux news, “leaked” by the right to the web. Now Olbermann and a few very fact credible sites have shown Drudge to be all hat and no cattle. Truth’s a bitch. At least we can crowd out the lies now.
May 29th, 2007 at 12:40 pmDrudge is sludge, so nothing more needs to said about the creep!

May 29th, 2007 at 1:01 pmWhy don’t we stay on topic MA or you too afriad to admit your fear? Drudge is a phony, for him to claim that someone else is a phony is entertaining. Olbermann does scare the right, he has a following, and it is growing every day. He is far better looking then anyone the right can toss up, and he doesn’t wear a bow tie.
I guess the inability to govern, or do anything without screwing it up royally is killing the right. Fine by me. Soon it will not matter.
May 29th, 2007 at 1:02 pmDrudge, the man who still swears he’s straight, even though he sent e-mails begging for sex from David Brock, he’s been seen at gay bars, and he got the nickname “Eggman” for a reason, but Olbermann is the phony. May 29th, 2007 at 1:07 pmDrudge’s web site is golden. When the main web page is loaded, thirteen (or more) popups are activated. Now this is blocked by anyone who knows about popups and trojans, but many of the right wingers have no idea about computers and thus they get the popups.
I get calls to clean up these computers and it is amazing how many sites they go to without any popup blockers or firewalls. Their computers are a mess with so much crap poping up it is quite funny. I clean out their systems but then show them how much crap they are getting by going to these sites. These people then swear that they won’t go to those sites again.

Drudge is the perfect example of a media phony. He simply links to other people’s work, then gets credit and advertisers for it. He wears a cute hat to pretend he’s a reporter, and even uses a newspaper print format for his website, but the reality is, Matt Drudge is total phony.
May 29th, 2007 at 2:06 pmKeith Olbermann is as much of a “news man” as Rosie O’donnell a fashion model. Speaking hate with emotion isn’t reporting the news. But somone who is able to speak, who is a voice of reason in a desert of insanity, must drive you crazy. So yes you do fear him, just as you fear everything, and everyone else.
Side note to Jim, Olbermann doesn’t come across has hateful, Limbaugh, and your other media idols certianly qualify. I realize you need to believe that Olbermann has nothing going for him, except his show keeps moving up in the ratings. The radical right is dead unable to govern.
May 29th, 2007 at 3:01 pmKrazny – Too afraid to admit “my fearâ€? Of Keith O.???? LOLOLOL- You are too funny!! Comment by valiant venus — May 29, 2007 @ 2:15 pm
What’s *funny* – Anorexia Guhrl – is that you st*pid c*nts think you aren’t transparent!
I enjoy his one sided debate – he is the perfect foil to Limbaugh’s bias. Comment by valiant venus — May 29, 2007 @ 2:15 pm
Then who’s the perfect foil to your one sided bias – st*pid c*nt?
The difference between Limbaugh’s “bias”, is that it’s based on an ability to *lie*, whereas Keith’s is based on an ability to present the *truth*. Does that sound familiar – st*pid c*nt?
On a purely superficial note to Mr. O. – I prefer men who don’t spend more at the hair and nail salon than I do and don’t smell sweeter than me….. Tooodles……… Comment by valiant venus — May 29, 2007 @ 2:15 pm
A pile of cow sh*t smells sweeter than you – st*pid c*nt. So that must mean you prefer *all* men. Then again, I doubt you prefer *any* men – except those that *cry* like Representative Boner on the house of the floor?
So tell me st*pid c*nt. If one of our news organizations helped incite and organize a Coup against Bush – would you think he would hesitate to label them as a “terrorist” organization and shut them down? Wow, then you must really like how Chavez is an Anti-Terrorist leader!!! That’s exactly the sort of “strong” leadership you’ve been calling for c*nt – why such a whiny attitude about it?
You’re such a little whiny loser Anorexia Guhrl – you are SOOO BORING!!!!! Zzzzzzz…………
May 29th, 2007 at 3:11 pmKrazny,
I believe the “Democrats” gained seats in the last election, not “liberals”. How many Democrats won elections while running as “conservatives or moderates”? If the liberals had won the election, funding for the troops abroad would have been cut off to stop the war in its tracks.
Keith Olbermann scares conservatives? Good one. You think Mr. Olbermann balances out Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge, or Bill O’rielly? I would think the likes of television networks such as CNN, MSNBC, NPR, CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News and ABC World News Tonight more than balance out Rush or Drudge. News coverage is HEAVILY tilted to the left. That’s why I find it funny when I hear complaints about Fox News or talk radio. The left has a huge advantage in media coverage.
That being said, with such a huge media advantage, why can’t liberals really take control of Congress or capture the White House on a regular basis? The answer is that “liberalism” is out of touch with the American people’s ideals. If it wasn’t, why do liberals run as conservatives or moderates?

Comment by COMMENT BY JIM — May 29, 2007 @ 3:20 p
Actually it has to do with the media not being as “liberal” as you claim. Please if the media was sooo liberal, why does Bush get a free pass on so much stuff? And yes you are afraid of Olbermann, he doesn’t cower to you, or you rapid hatred. You don’t like the idea that someone is smarter then Bill, better looking then Rush, and more popular then Hannity. Your clowns are losing it over and over again. Why else would drudge issue such a silly attack? It is out of fear.

Actually, the “liberals” did much better in both the primaries and the general election than those “conservative” and “moderate” candidates did. In fact most of Rahm’s “picked” middle of the road candidates lost – whereas many of the non-Rahm “liberal” candidates won.
But don’t let “reality” spoil that little wingnut fantasy of yours!
I hate to inform you of this *wingnut*, but the *majority* of Americans hold *liberal* opinions on virtually every issue that you *conservatives* are against. Without selling them “fear”, you’d never get elected on the issues!

Huge media advantage? You conservatives have been spending an average of 400 million a years “branding” liberalism as bad, and you *own* most of the media outlets. They are largely corporate wingnut establishments. What, you actually thought the media was “liberal”? BAHAHA, you really are st*pid!
As for winning elections on a regular basis? BAHAHAHA, You should ask that about your Conservative party! They can barely hold either house for more than a few years at a time. So why can’t the Conservatives win elections on a regular basis? Because you’re out of touch with American values?
You’re a fool.
May 29th, 2007 at 3:41 pmHey – Maybe Drudge will link to this thread…. Watch out TP Servers!
May 29th, 2007 at 3:44 pmDrudge, just another self loathing Log Cabin Republican, that the Homophobic GOP can’t get enough of. Ah, Hypocrisy, how predictable.
May 29th, 2007 at 3:52 pmHey Matt, your envy is showing. You might want to put it away because it is very unattractive and makes you look like a little boy who lost his lollipop.
May 29th, 2007 at 3:55 pmValiantVenus and so on,
Republicans lost the 2006 elections because they strayed away from “conservative values”. Border security, insane spending, and pointless bickering. They deserved to lose. They left their base, and in return the base left them. Oh, by the way, the name calling thing. Take a pill dude or something.
Krazny,
I didn’t like Keith Olbermann when he was on ESPN, way before he jumped into politics. Oh, and you think the media is soft on Bush? His approval ratings would suggest otherwise. Just wondering, and its way to early for this crap for me, are you leaning any particular way for your choice for President in 2008?
May 29th, 2007 at 3:58 pm“Drudge on Olbermann – Part V
http://www.olbermannwatch.com/ archives/ 2007/ 05/”
Oh how cute. A website to watch Keith and report on him. Kind of like the Newshounds site only there’s really nothing there. I bet Keith is quaking in his boots knowing this website is out there.
There isn’t a Republican talking head out there who can hold a candle to Keith Olbermann. And Keith does not claim to be reporting the “news”. But at least he doesn’t lie. And I love his talking point moments. They are usually pretty swift to the heart of the matter.
May 29th, 2007 at 4:03 pmmy only comment on the democratic side for a 08 is not Hillary, I think she would do well as president, but as a figure I think she would prove to polarizing to be an effective candidate. Of the other candidates I am not sure. There is some promise, Edwards, Obama, but also some I don’t like much. For the republican side I am hoping for either a Romney/Guiliani ticket or something equally bizzare that will turn off the values voters.
May 29th, 2007 at 4:03 pmKrazny
Interesting. I believe that the majority of people in the Republican party do want Hillary winning the Democrat nomination. That would offset, if your right, a flat ticket of Guiliani/Romney. Obama isn’t ready. Edwards is my pick to win the Dem nomination, that is unless Gore springs a suprise. On the other side, I’m really liking Romney better than two months ago. But I feel like the field isn’t complete on the Republican side either. Its just way to early for this stuff. The general election is a year and a half away. I wonder if we’d be discussing this if a democrat was Prez….. Man alive, There goes my “media liberal bias” theory again. Gotta go. Have a good evening.

After reading that, I don’t understand why “she” is so hostile to Hugo Chavez. After seeing him on various news outlets, he certainly can’t spend more than a couple of bolivares (the current exchange rate is $1 = 2147 VeB) on haircuts. (Of course, as far as someone’s smelling “sweeter” than VV, I can’t figure how “she” can make this determination, unless the TV–television, not transvestite*–has Smell-O-Vision.)
*Since this is valiantvenus being discussed, I felt it necessary to dispel any possible confusion with the abbreviation. I, for one, don’t believe that valiantvenus is really female. Valiantvenus could simply be some guy who likes wearing women’s attire while posting to sites such as this one, attempting to give some “female support” to his 1950s male-superiority conservative worldview. (I would suggest that when “valiantvenus” changes “her” moniker again, “she” might try one more truly reflective of “her” personality, maybe something like KillerKali or KKKKali.)
May 29th, 2007 at 4:26 pmAnother perfect example of Right Wing “projection.”
Look at Drudge. Dig the cheesy fedora. What a geek.
May 29th, 2007 at 4:46 pmAnother conservative freak that is projecting.
May 29th, 2007 at 4:50 pmDrudge is not fit to tie the shoes of Keith Olbermann. Keith Olbermann is his own man while Drudge is George’s boy. I don’t believe I have ever heard Drudge state an original thought. He just touts the Bush lies and questions anyone with a mind of his or her own.
Olbermann rocks. Drudge? Not so much.
May 29th, 2007 at 5:05 pmBad-hat-wearing angst-ridden emotionally-stunted loser obsessed with other folks being “phony” while perfectly (and hypocritically) demonstrating the type all by himself?
So is this Matt Drudge or Holden Caulfield we’re talking about here?
May 29th, 2007 at 5:29 pmJim: “That being said, with such a huge media advantage, why can’t liberals really take control of Congress or capture the White House on a regular basis? The answer is that “liberalism†is out of touch with the American people’s ideals. If it wasn’t, why do liberals run as conservatives or moderates?”
Jim, there’s so much wrong with your thinking, it’s hard to know where to begin. First, your premise that “liberalism is out of touch with Americans’ ideals” doesn’t square with polling. If you go to Pollingreport.com and click on “issues,” you will find that Americans are actually more liberal than they think they are. Secondly, if “liberal” is a bad word, one to be avoided, how did it get that way? By magic? People get their opinions from the media. If the media is liberal as you seem to think, I would think people would have a better opinion on that word. Did you happen to catch the first Repub and Dem debates? Williams first question to Dems: Are you people traitors?
Matthews first question to Repubs: How can we get back to Reagan’s “morning in America.”
Would you call the framing of those questions “liberal?”
May 29th, 2007 at 5:33 pmOh yes, what authority Drudge has, a man who lives in a big walk in closet so he does not have to admit he is gay. How sad that he choses to live in the closet. So Matt, don’t throw rocks until you tell your readers the truth about your sexual orientation and then let them make up their minds on whether you are a trusted source.
MATT, MATT COME OUT OF THE CLOSET. You must have the hots for Keith but sorry he’s not gay like you.
May 29th, 2007 at 5:50 pmThe fascist left at TP loves their man Chavez. Hopefully, freedom lovers will kill that fascist Chavez.
May 29th, 2007 at 5:51 pmIt’s hard to believe that in this day and age, people still harbor this opinion that the media is liberal. How could a liberal media not provide any dissenting voices on television in the runup to the Iraq War? Why would a liberal media marginalize and even ruin the careers of people who were correct about the war? Why would a liberal media have convinced close to 50% of the American public that Gore was a lying creep and Bush was a plain-talking regular guy with whom you’d like to share a beer? When Al Gore spoke out against the invasion in 2002, he was widely criticized and even mocked in the media. He was called “un-hinged”, “crazy” and a “traitor.” Jim, why would a “liberal media” behave that way?
May 29th, 2007 at 5:53 pmRick, by using the term “fascist left,” which is a contradiction in terms, you only show us all what a moron you are. And then, you prove it by calling for the assasination of a foreign leader who is absolutely no threat to us. Now, this guy may be a threat to the profits of some of our corporations, but that’s another issue.
May 29th, 2007 at 6:06 pmSimple answer. Look at Drudge’s numbers – then look at Olbermann’s numbers. Olbermann just signed a multi-million dollar extension to his contract with MSNBC. Drudge has… well, he has a website.
Poor Drudge. He must be feeling all icky inside. :(
May 29th, 2007 at 6:11 pmBluedog49, obviously you are another fascist supporter of Chavez. The people of Venezuela will kill that fascist Chavez soon enough.
May 29th, 2007 at 6:16 pmHere Rick, let me spell it out for you:
Fascism: the merging of large private corporate money with government power, usually accompanied by a militaristic national message.
The Left: liberal, as in “the enlightenment;” as in the predominate mindset of most of our nation’s founders; as in “provide for the general welfare;” as in take care of your fellow man, etc.
Rick, I’m not sure where you got your ideas, but you need a good dose of history. The first thing fascists always do is purge the liberals. And, often, one of the first things dictatorial Communists do is purge liberals.
May 29th, 2007 at 6:38 pmMust be bored – just read 115 comments here. Drudge was an early news aggregator, and often useful at that. But he abused the credibility gained by linking to a fair amount of timely, thought-provoking stuff by mixing in links to total garbage, and even worse his own posts of claimed news that most often were total fantasy.
Meanwhile, much better news aggregators have become prominent. Google News is excellent. Raw Story is pretty good. And if you want the real story of American politics with strong original reporting, Talking Points Memo is it.
Drudge is the equivalent of one of the many original search engines we’ve long forgotten – an early aggregator we will similarly soon forget, because other have come along later and done it so much better. As for Olbermann, he’s the brightest, most historically grounded, most insightful newsperson working in TV today. He does openly display his opinions, but in a way which makes them easily distinguishable from the facts he reports – moreso than are the opinions of his many competitors who restrain their communication of them to raised eyebrows or knowing grins, while obscuring the nonetheless-existing and inevitable biases in their stories, rather than being clear on their biases so the viewers can separate them out.
May 29th, 2007 at 6:41 pmThere there,don’t cry Keith…..lolol
May 29th, 2007 at 6:42 pmIsn’t Olberman the guy who reads sports scores and headlines on ESPN?
May 29th, 2007 at 6:48 pmOh, yeah, we’re gonna take Mr. Drudge, former studio gift shop employee, who started his ’service’ to dispense show biz gossip he overheard, seriously? ON ANY TOPIC?
Oh, wait, maybe it’s satire like Limbaugh. That could be.

Isn’t O’Reilly the guy that covers “celebrity gossip”?
Isn’t Limbaugh the guy with An*l Cysts, and a drug problem?
Isn’t Drudge the guy that’s a closet gay man, that smears out gay men?
You’re an idiot muckdog.
May 29th, 2007 at 7:17 pmBluedog49, you’re barely sentient (like most leftists), so I don’t expect you to think anything besides what your fascist thought leaders tell you to think.
“Fascism: the merging of large private corporate money with government power, usually accompanied by a militaristic national message.”
And you just described Chavez’s fascist regime. Thanks.
“The Left: liberal, as in “the enlightenment;†as in the predominate mindset of most of our nation’s founders; as in “provide for the general welfare;†as in take care of your fellow man, etc.”
You and your fascist buddy Chavez are leftists, not liberals.
May 29th, 2007 at 7:37 pmRick, maybe since you claim there is a merging of large corporate money and government power in Venezuela, you can name the corporations. I’ll start: Citgo. OK, now you. I’m sure you have lots of examples to give us since you’re obviously not blowing this out your ass. And, for our entertainment, you’ve come up with a new, hairbrained construct: the difference between “leftists” and “liberals.” Can you provide a citation for this nuanced position, or is this just something else you made up?
May 29th, 2007 at 7:57 pmRick: “Bluedog49, you’re barely sentient (like most leftists)”
So, I guess Albert Einstein would be one of your exeptions to the rule, eh?
May 29th, 2007 at 7:59 pmDrudge is probably reading this thread. Methinks Drudge is jealous.

May 30th, 2007 at 1:14 amUntil there is courtesy in the public arena, there will be no real dialogue on the issues. Both sides must learn to speak respectfully. Good manners are sadly lacking on this comment page, and in American life.
May 30th, 2007 at 1:52 amI think a Jewish Gay Republican running a right wing web site should be ashamed of his own essence of being a sell out. Look no further than what you’ve “created” before you start talking about pancake makeup, hair and teeth. You creepy sell out.
May 30th, 2007 at 5:15 amI’m more amused than angered by this stuff. This kind of delusional rhetoric is all they have left. They’re hanging onto the edge of the cliff by their fingertips, and they know they can’t hold on much longer.

May 30th, 2007 at 10:01 amare you freaking kidding me?!!manners?!!an illegal war with potentially a million innocent killed, a trillion in treasure – and you want to talk about “manners”?!!!!!!!!!there should be fighting in the streets right now. not raised pinkies while drinking tea. manners are something civilized people do in polite society – not lying, war-mongering freaks blowing up women and children and spending the country’s social structure (and those who supported them [neo-conmen]). bush and his supporters gave up civilized discourse long ago when they lied to the world and then attemped to crush all others who called them on their sh*t. this is war!
not lawn polo.
To all those who remark about Olbermanns ratings climbing. No matter how you spin them and you have to spinm them like a top to make them look anything other than abysmal, he is still and at the current trend for the year so far back from Oreilly that he will not possibly catch up. Frankly people are not all doom and gloom as he would hope they are . His core audience is the wailing and gnashing of teeth in lamentation crowd.
May 30th, 2007 at 10:03 amOh and to sa
we have killed very few civillians overall in the war and as for national treasure, we spent far far more during WW2 with far less ability to create wealth and we seem to have done very well after that . Read mor history is my suggestion to you.

Whats with the conspiracy stuff about Fox?
the nation needs a fox therapist.
May 30th, 2007 at 11:32 amStill with the Fox obsession. Ever hear of diversity? Or close them down and end up with one sided news along the vein of Pravda?
May 30th, 2007 at 11:58 amKeith Oberman speaks truth to power. Matt Drudge propogates the mindless drivel that is Fox “Unfair & Unbalanced” News. Given that, my personal opinion is that by slinging dispersions at Drudge’s sexual preferences (true or perceived) it dilutes the message. Drudge’s stock in trade is playing a characture of Walter Wintchell. So let it be that Drudge is a “fake newreader”, leave the sexual preferences out of the arguement.

Look at the stalinistic media grab going on down in Venezuala right now. Chavez is like Fe. A very short half-life. Noam likes these guys and no rational person would feel the same.

Still into having raw eggs cracked on you, Matt? Yeah, THAT’S traditional family values for ya!
May 31st, 2007 at 3:48 amTo be fair, he’s calling what’s going on at MSNBC camp and the lights and music phony. He did say everything there also… not everyone.
I can’t seem to find any critiques of anything Keith has said on this site… maybe I didn’t look hard enough. Even the above KO idiot quote… I guess the jump to phony is way worse than being called that.

Comment by Regular Joe firefighter
Hey Joe: You lose all credibility when you resort to calling libs “America haters.” You don’t know a damned thing about what Chomsky or any lib feels about our country other than that we don’t approve of what Bush & Co. have done in our name. We love America more than you could ever imagine, apparently. What irks you is that we don’t constantly harp on and on about America being the greatest country in the world, but instead think America can do better. I guess you don’t think we can do better, since you and the rest of the right are so satisfied with the status quo, as long as that means that Standard Oil is making record profits. And as for anyone caring for Fidel or Hugo being “strange in the head,” well, at least for Hugo, he won a majority of votes in a democratic election, and even Fidel, whether you choose to accept it or not, has a lot of support from Cubans in Cuba. It’s nice that you’re able to diagnose them all as nuts from the comfort of your probably plush retirement digs in Anytown, USA, without knowing a whit about what their day to day lives are like, with or without Castro and Chavez. Perhaps they’re just sick of the crap, starvation and little hope of ever pulling themselves out of the poverty that the wealthy corrupt corporatists were happy to impose on them for so many generations, and as bad as Castro & Chavez may be, they’re at least better than how things used to be.
for a “retired fire captain, a retired Army Infantry Officer with the rank of major and graduated with a Masters in high energy physics” who claims to have a better than average IQ, you don’t seem particularly bright to me. I have an idea–why not try minding our own business, and staying out of the affairs of foreign nations who are no threat to us for a change? No, I guess Chevron wouldn’t like that, would they?
June 6th, 2007 at 4:14 pmHmmm – Drudge sorta resembles Edward R. Murrow in that photo…..ya think, maybe, possibly….??????
