This is kind of old news — it was announced when Olbermann renewed his contract. Also when the new NBC news producer came aboard, she wanted to occassionally have Keith do one of his special comments.
Sorry if this is a double post — screwy message came up.
This news is kind of old. It was announced when Olbermann renewed his contract a couple of months back. Also, it was later referenced when NBC news producer discussed revamping program and her desire to have Keith so some of his Special Comments on the NBC News.
People want the balanced news, not skewed Keith Overrated. He gets his blabber hour every night. He won’t fit on the NBC Nightly News, that would attract viewer complaints.
Keith Olberman on NBC’s flagship program? Odd vision….
#12: Colbert said it best, “Facts have a well-known liberal bias”. Also, as #2 said, this is old new – old, but good, and its COMMENTARY, not reporting or anchoring., so go home and waaaaaah about something else trolls!
There is a reason Williams’ producer would want a guy like Olberman doing commentary on the (flailing) NBC Nightly News- he is a great writer, delivers his opinion with passion and style, and has a wicked left jab.
A much broader audience might be transfixed by his audacity- especially in contrast with the bland and largely colorless Williams…
You can’t let Keith on the nightly news. Americans may actually find out about the Downing St. Memos, Haebeas Corpus being erased and 8 out 10 of the Bill of Rights vanishing. Can you imagine the horror of people actually getting important information on the nightly NEWS?? Please someone stop it!!!
Larry, completely off topic (sorry folks) but I’m hearing rumors that there’s a petition going around for a recall of Kucinich and that there are ample signatures expected.
Again, just rumors.
Again, it’s a rumor, so there is no link. What I’m told is that it’s not specifically because of the impeachment articles, but because of him running for president and embarassing his constituents.
But I’ll take your answer as, “No.”
Why would Mr.President continue his involvement in an activity he has confirmed to be boring? The alternative, (do something else) obviously must be SUPER boring.

You lead one sad life, my friend.

Yet, you spend tremendous time and energy in a “boring” activity you aren’t “required” to do…
How pathetic… Can’t you find a “porn” or “bible” or “both” site to pre-occupy you? I heard Jeff Gannon’s pictures are still floating out there – he seems your type…

There, there, CompTROLLER V-1, I know it’s painful when people pay attention to Keith instead of you. Funny, how NBC wanted Keith and not Glenn Beck, or not Glen Reynolds, or not Michelle Malkin, or Bill O’Reilly, or Michael Savage, or Hugh Hewitt, or Ann Coulter…
“You know… it is terrible. I want juicy stories to make fun of, not this boring shit.”
You know, Mr. President. TP has 25+ articles a day. If you find this one too boring for your incredibly short attention span…skip it. Crap on a different thread.
“People want the balanced news, not skewed Keith Overrated.”
I wasn’t aware that network executives ever did anything that they did not believe would attract “people”.
Perhaps your definition of “people” is a little different. Something like “mindless reactionary trolls”, perhaps.
“He gets his blabber hour every night. He won’t fit on the NBC Nightly News, that would attract viewer complaints.”
You and Mr Preznit must care so much for a reason. Hmmmm, what could it be?
“Keith Olberman on NBC’s flagship program? Odd vision….”
That’s cuz your vision’s all blurry from all the spinning in the No Spin Zone, which makes you all Unfair and Unbalanced.
In addition to his nightly newscast — which counts down the day’s top political and entertainment stories with Olbermman’s signature wit — the MSNBC host will contribute occasional “essays†to the “Nightly News with Brian Williams” and host two “Countdown” specials a year on NBC.”
Keith is no Edward R. Murrow…and he doesn’t claim to be even though he uses his signature sign off at the end of his special comments on Countdown. I hope that if this Nightly News stint comes about that he will approach it much like Daniel Shore, former CBS (now NPR) or perhaps the heavyweight of them all, Eric Sevareid did at CBS news with his ‘Essays’. Sevareid was the master! I remember he once said in an interview that what disgusted him most were charlatans. I think Keith will do just fine…hope it works out.
Brian Williams can use the help in the gravitas department. He rarely strays from the pro-Bush script. He’s been burned by the real news on the blogs and real research that isn’t “me too” , but original work by bloggers everywhere. Keith Olbermann is the best news host/writer, with the best research staff. He has a sense of humor that masks a mighty sword when necessary. Maybe Brian should go to QVC and give the whole enchillada to Keith. Ratings would soar. Many can’t afford cable right now.
God damn you guys are slow today!
