  1. Mr. President says:

God damn you guys are slow today!

  2. todd says:

This is kind of old news — it was announced when Olbermann renewed his contract. Also when the new NBC news producer came aboard, she wanted to occassionally have Keith do one of his special comments.

  3. RoboTroll 3000 says:

    Olbermann is a traitor.

    Fox is fair and balanced.

The liberal media wants to turn this nation socialist.

  4. todd says:

Sorry if this is a double post — screwy message came up.

This news is kind of old. It was announced when Olbermann renewed his contract a couple of months back. Also, it was later referenced when NBC news producer discussed revamping program and her desire to have Keith so some of his Special Comments on the NBC News.

  5. dlet says:

By “occasional” I hope they mean “nightly”.

  6. James S. says:

  7. CompTROLLER V-1 says:

People want the balanced news, not skewed Keith Overrated. He gets his blabber hour every night. He won’t fit on the NBC Nightly News, that would attract viewer complaints.

Keith Olberman on NBC’s flagship program? Odd vision….

  8. Bluedog49 says:

OK, so that’s ONE Bush critic allowed to sit in for a few nights. And, THAT’s what the trolls call “liberal media.”

  9. Bluedog49 says:

Let me paraphrase the Comptroller: Whaaaaaaaaaaa! Boohooo hooo.

  10. justice says:

    poor incompetentTROLL

he gets all hot and bothered over Keith

  11. Mr. President says:

    Let me paraphrase TP:

    a) … uhh… dude… like… what are we gonna say today…

    b) I don’know man?… hey are you gonna pass that… stop politicin’

    a) hehe… (cough)… sorry bra… wait look… here’s some shit that nobody cares about… let’s make some shit up and post it as a thread on TP…

    b) good idea bro…

  12. zappatero says:

will Keith’s comments counter Brian’s infatuation with Rush?

  13. Namtillaku says:

If Obermann is considered liberal, then I guess facts are liberal too – lies & falsehoods, it follows, would be conservative.

  14. webslinger says:

#12: Colbert said it best, “Facts have a well-known liberal bias”. Also, as #2 said, this is old new – old, but good, and its COMMENTARY, not reporting or anchoring., so go home and waaaaaah about something else trolls!

  15. ValiantVenusGrewFromUranus says:

    Let me paraphrase Mr President.

by justice – if your god does exist, you all have an eTicket to HELL coming your way

God does exist – and He’s upgraded to Fast-Pass…

  17. Fed the Fcuk Up! says:

I hear that CBS might be looking for someone to replace the 50-somethingish cheerleader that they currently have.

  18. jackbrown says:

There is a reason Williams’ producer would want a guy like Olberman doing commentary on the (flailing) NBC Nightly News- he is a great writer, delivers his opinion with passion and style, and has a wicked left jab.

A much broader audience might be transfixed by his audacity- especially in contrast with the bland and largely colorless Williams…

  19. Goober says:

    Ha Ha

Olbermann is climbing up the ladder, and Beck is falling down.

  20. Goober says:

Mr. President appears to be flailing. Good post.

  21. Larry from C says:

You can’t let Keith on the nightly news. Americans may actually find out about the Downing St. Memos, Haebeas Corpus being erased and 8 out 10 of the Bill of Rights vanishing. Can you imagine the horror of people actually getting important information on the nightly NEWS?? Please someone stop it!!!

It must be terrible that TP has forced you to come here and post on a topic about which you care so little.

  23. Wilco says:

Larry, completely off topic (sorry folks) but I’m hearing rumors that there’s a petition going around for a recall of Kucinich and that there are ample signatures expected.
    Again, just rumors.

    Comment by Loonie — May 31, 2007 @ 8:14 pm

You know… it is terrible. I want juicy stories to make fun of, not this boring shit.

  25. Larry from C says:

#22, Wilco…A recall? Do you have a link to a source? Who is initiating it? Sounds like some group that doesn’t like impeachment talk.

  26. TripMaster Monkey says:

    Comment by Wilco — May 31, 2007 @ 8:14 pm

Got any links to substantiate this? Anything at all?

  27. Wilco says:

Again, it’s a rumor, so there is no link. What I’m told is that it’s not specifically because of the impeachment articles, but because of him running for president and embarassing his constituents.
But I’ll take your answer as, “No.”

  28. ForTruth says:

Why would Mr.President continue his involvement in an activity he has confirmed to be boring? The alternative, (do something else) obviously must be SUPER boring.

  29. Larry from C says:

#26, Wilco…His constituents are embarassing HIM.

    Comment by ForTruth — May 31, 2007 @ 8:28 pm

Well yes, as a matter of fact it is sort of “SUPER boring”. Very observant of you.

Perhaps you should stop reading your own talking points….

    snorreeee… ZZZzzzzzzz…..

  32. Wilco says:

Mr. President, is you life then truly that awful, that anything but trolling around here is SUPER boring?
You lead one sad life, my friend.

Nah, not my life. In the other tab I have T.S. Eliot’s “The Waste Land” and a shit load of notes that go along with it. I have to read it for a class I am taking this summer.

  34. ForTruth says:

Or he’s getting paid to troll around here. LOL

Yet, you spend tremendous time and energy in a “boring” activity you aren’t “required” to do…

How pathetic… Can’t you find a “porn” or “bible” or “both” site to pre-occupy you? I heard Jeff Gannon’s pictures are still floating out there – he seems your type…

  36. Kate Henry says:

Boy, I bet that’s going to make O’Lieley mad. No one asks him to come on their shows…except maybe Hannity.

Way to go Keith. I love you and watch you every night.

  37. Wilco says:

    a bible porn site?
    If the ark’s a rockin…

  38. Wilco says:

Stephen is about to be martyred but then the sexy copier repairwoman enters and because of the heat, she undoes her top…

    Comment by CompTROLLER V-1

There, there, CompTROLLER V-1, I know it’s painful when people pay attention to Keith instead of you. Funny, how NBC wanted Keith and not Glenn Beck, or not Glen Reynolds, or not Michelle Malkin, or Bill O’Reilly, or Michael Savage, or Hugh Hewitt, or Ann Coulter…

  40. Zooey says:

I’d get reinstate my cable for Keith’s commentaries.

  41. JPark says:

“You know… it is terrible. I want juicy stories to make fun of, not this boring shit.”

You know, Mr. President. TP has 25+ articles a day. If you find this one too boring for your incredibly short attention span…skip it. Crap on a different thread.

  42. JPark says:

    “People want the balanced news,”

Are you joking? I am sure you are one of Fox’s most loyal viewers. Why do you lie like that?

  43. gorn by any other name says:

“People want the balanced news, not skewed Keith Overrated.”

I wasn’t aware that network executives ever did anything that they did not believe would attract “people”.

Perhaps your definition of “people” is a little different. Something like “mindless reactionary trolls”, perhaps.

“He gets his blabber hour every night. He won’t fit on the NBC Nightly News, that would attract viewer complaints.”

You and Mr Preznit must care so much for a reason. Hmmmm, what could it be?

“Keith Olberman on NBC’s flagship program? Odd vision….”

That’s cuz your vision’s all blurry from all the spinning in the No Spin Zone, which makes you all Unfair and Unbalanced.

  44. justice says:

    hey compTROLLER

then how come Keith’s reporting ALL CHECKS OUT and is verifiable

and NOT ONE winger nut job “reporter” reports no verifiable facts only mud slinging tripe?

You hate Keith because he refutes you tripe and has INTGRITY something you clowns utterly lack.

  45. sponson says:

This was previously announced as an official part of Olbermann’s new contract, so Brian’s “interested” all right, he has no choice:

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17168554/

In addition to his nightly newscast — which counts down the day’s top political and entertainment stories with Olbermman’s signature wit — the MSNBC host will contribute occasional “essays” to the “Nightly News with Brian Williams” and host two “Countdown” specials a year on NBC.”

  46. TerrytheTurtle says:

Some say I resemble Keith you know….

  47. JPark says:

“Some say I resemble Keith you know….”

Congrats. I have only been compared to the kid in the old B movie “The Boy Who Could Fly”.

    Strawman…. :D

KO now, or KO in his Groucho Marx years?

  49. JPark says:

Or even more complimentary…a pudgy Kevin Bacon.

  50. TerrytheTurtle says:

    “Strawman…. :D”

Ouch, that hurt…. I bet Groucho Marx was a real hit with the ladies…. don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

  51. JPark says:

Hehe, “Women should be obscene and not heard”-Groucho.

  52. TerrytheTurtle says:

“Or even more complimentary…a pudgy Kevin Bacon.

    Comment by JPark — May 31, 2007 @ 10:48 pm”

Know any pudgy Kyra Sedgwick’s looking for any Keith O resemblers?

  53. JPark says:

Heh, if I found a pudgy Kyra I wouldn’t tell anybody until I was married :)

  54. Zooey says:

Hehe, “Women should be obscene and not heard”-Groucho.
    Comment by JPark

I live by that motto. :D

  55. Zooey says:

Ouch, that hurt…. I bet Groucho Marx was a real hit with the ladies…. don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
    Comment by TerrytheTurtle

    Sorry. :)

Hey, I’ll try anything once or six times.

  56. JPark says:

Groucho was wrong. Women should be obscene and heard.

  57. TerrytheTurtle says:

Hey UNB had me down as a George Costanza wanna be I think…. or Harry Potter I forget which.

  58. JPark says:

Hehe, a George Costanza wannabe? That isn’t good.

  59. liz says:

YES BRIAN >>> LET KEITH TALK

  60. Bill Clinton says:

wait a cottonpickin minute here I thought that NBC was part of the orwellian media , what gives

  61. Ray says:

    Super…hey…Robotroll3000? Get over it!

Keith is no Edward R. Murrow…and he doesn’t claim to be even though he uses his signature sign off at the end of his special comments on Countdown. I hope that if this Nightly News stint comes about that he will approach it much like Daniel Shore, former CBS (now NPR) or perhaps the heavyweight of them all, Eric Sevareid did at CBS news with his ‘Essays’. Sevareid was the master! I remember he once said in an interview that what disgusted him most were charlatans. I think Keith will do just fine…hope it works out.

  62. erin says:

I love Olbermann and I hate Bush, but in general I don’t need an editorial in my news. I wish more programs were like NPR.

  63. Jo-Ann says:

Brian Williams can use the help in the gravitas department. He rarely strays from the pro-Bush script. He’s been burned by the real news on the blogs and real research that isn’t “me too” , but original work by bloggers everywhere. Keith Olbermann is the best news host/writer, with the best research staff. He has a sense of humor that masks a mighty sword when necessary. Maybe Brian should go to QVC and give the whole enchillada to Keith. Ratings would soar. Many can’t afford cable right now.
