Doan pleads innocence.

By Nico Pitney on Jun 2nd, 2007 at 8:00 am

Doan pleads innocence.

“An attorney for U.S. General Services Administration chief Lurita Alexis Doan yesterday said allegations that his client violated the Hatch Act should be rejected because they are based on ‘tenuous inferences and careless leaps of logic.‘ Michael J. Nardotti Jr. wrote in a 16-page response to an investigation by the Office of Special Counsel that President Bush should disregard allegations that Doan used her office for political purposes.”

Looks like Rove should have picked a better and brighter group than "loyal Bushies" and Regent law graduates to fulfill his "permanant Republican majority" initiative. That and have better policies.

  2. davecleathers Says:

Doesn't he ignore ALL allegations of wrong doings by his administration?

  3. oldtree Says:

you know it is getting funnier when the mouthpiece denies what the client says in congressional hearings!
"I know you thought my clients lips were moving when that statement came apparently out of nowhere, but it was not my client talking!"

  4. Kate Henry Says:

Well, if Ms. Doan is innocent, then she should be happy to fully participate in the investigation and immediately turn over any information that the committee asks her for. Anyone want to bet she doesn't do that. Anyone want to bet that she declares some kind of "privilege" that says she doesn't have to turn over records.

This administrations lack of respect for the rule of law is stunning.

I'm sure Bush will ignore that fact, but it's not GWB Mizz Lurita needs to worry about right now.

  6. nofltwlt Says:

All of these corrupt political operatives need to serve time in PRISON.

  7. nofltwlt Says:

How does Doan know if she did or did not commit a crime - she remembers so little. If she remembers so little, is this her primary qualification for her position?

  8. Bill from Dover Says:

I believe her primary qualification was a $200,000 contribution to the GWB campaign.

  9. Devil's Advocate Says:

"tenuous inferences and careless leaps of logic"? That would be the employees who testified that she asked at the end of the meeting "what can we do to help our party"?

Doan is a lying scumbag. Yeah, another one of those Bush appointees...

  10. Devil's Advocate Says:

#1. Indeed! Looks like Rove is not "The Brain" after all...

  11. the republic of stupidity Says:

Is it possible to plead innocent by reason of stupidity?

  12. Roket Says:

Poor Ms. Doan. My heart bleeds for her. She’s not going to have one purple finger; she’s going to have all ten covered in blotter ink. It has already been proven that she was in violation of the Hatch Act. Looks like they will have to drag her out kicking and screaming since she serves at the pleasure of the president. You know these people won’t resign until the president gives them the OK and/or he throws them under the bus.

This is great! I now have my excuse for getting out of any trouble I may find myself in, should anyone accuse me of any wrongdoing.

The woman is an idiot...an important qualification for being a bushit appointee...that plus a kool $200K contribution (buy your position, maybe?)...I call it blatant bribery under the guise of being a "campaign contribution" ,the poisonous lubricant of u.s. political life. How can a politician NOT become a crook under this political system? Public funding of elections is the only way to clean up government...plus impeachment and/or indictment and imprisonment of politicians and political appointees....they can all go serve time at the pleasure of the american public...
