“Republican sources on Capitol Hill and in California say Rep. Jerry Lewis, ranking Republican on the House Appropriations Committee who has been criticized on ethical grounds, will not seek a 16th term next year.” Lewis used his seat to steer earmarks towards to one of his closest friends and major campaign contributor. “He has not apologized and vigorously defended himself behind closed doors in the House Republican Conference.”
Laaaaaaaaadyyyyyy!!
June 2nd, 2007 at 8:47 amSociopaths never apologize.
June 2nd, 2007 at 8:49 amThe mere definition of a pathologically compromised individual is their inability to admit having made a mistake (lack of moral insight) and defensive attitude about all things pertaining to them. The act of “apology” is alien to them as they perceive themselves infallible and godlike (severe narcissism to the point of psychiatric pathology). This should not come as a surprise to anyone who follows GOP politics, however, as those still espousing the RNC/GOP “talking points” are illustrative of this psychiatric phenomenon. Soon they will become an irrelevant part of the political debate and landscape – just as we “ignore” an individual who is obviously psychiatrically compromised in our environment, so goes the RNC/GOP. They’ve becom a “blight” politically and “toxic” to the republican contenders for the white house. Frankly, I fail to understand why any republican candidate would spend the time, money, and energy to even “campaign” at this point.
The war, the economy, and the level of corruption in Republican politics these days will translate into a horrendous showing at the polls for any republican seeking office. They can all thank the Bush Cabal for tanking their aspirations. With the continuously descending poll numbers, coupled with our still-heinous presence in Iraq whose coincidentally toxic effect on our economy via the unprecedented national debt, these republican candidates don’t have a chance in hell of being elected (or reelected as the case may be in the senate and house).
The longer this president waits to fire Gonzo; the greater will be the ruin to the GOP. The more protracted this war becomes with it’s concomittant death rate and cost to the american taxpayer; the greater the destruction to this country and the Republican party.
What I cannot comprehend is the lackadaisical attitude of some of the republican candidates toward the “foregone conclusion” that there is absolutely NO WAY americans with any sense of patriotism or intelligence could possibly vote republican at this point…..it’s beyond my sense of comprehension, that’s for sure.
June 2nd, 2007 at 9:16 amAs a native and former resident of So Cal, I can’t express strongly enough how glaid I am to see this scumbag outta there!
June 2nd, 2007 at 9:23 amhe won’t run for re-election but he will collect a heavy duty pension for the rest of our lives AND he will get hired as a lobbyist to spread the corruption AND gonzo is right where rove/cheney/bush want him AND impeachment is off the table.
AND where’s my bloody mary? type A- please. make it a double.
June 2nd, 2007 at 9:26 am#4
As good as is it will be to get him out of there, we have SOOOOO many more scumbags (like Stephens, AK, etc.) to get rid of. But it is a start.
June 2nd, 2007 at 9:35 amI guess Im the eternal optimist because I feel even though he is going to leave office (excellent news) he will STILL have to pay the piper and the indictments will STILL roll. Slinking away does not equal “get off scot free” that slime ball has to PAY like all of these immoral, corrupt excuses of human beings.
June 2nd, 2007 at 9:36 amBig Jer is on the top of the list. Indict the slimeball!
He is retiring because he knows he wouldn’t be re-elected. The thing that disappoints me is that he is still a free man. When the Justice Department fired Carol Lam, who was in the middle of an indictment of Lewis, her successor immediately dropped the indictment. So, another RepubliCON crook goes free thanks to the shenanigans of the RepubliCON party and the Bush Crime Family.
It’s a disgrace to our justice system.
June 2nd, 2007 at 10:22 amMay we catch even more of these slime bags. I just wonder how tight this jerk was with the idiot governor of my state:

June 2nd, 2007 at 10:24 amHe can run but he cannot hide. He must be dogged until the end of his days for his transgressions against Americans (you and me) for personal gain and the propping-up of a corrupt party – the
GOP.
Lewis should spend some of his years in prison. Prison time, in the general population of a real prison, will provide defacto ethics reform for all politicians.
June 2nd, 2007 at 10:44 amForce Lewis to resign now, so NOT to retire next year, and for him to walk away scott free.
June 2nd, 2007 at 10:58 amNovak doesn’t deserve space on this website. sukit novak
June 2nd, 2007 at 11:06 amThat’s one less GOP scumbag in Congress. I hope he is being investigated thoroughly. Thieves, crooks, and pedophiles… That’s the GOP for you!

June 2nd, 2007 at 3:14 pmAnd will we let that crook, Lewis, off scott-free with immunity from prosecution and forgiveness for theft because our justice department doesn’t have the guts or balls or leadership?????
June 2nd, 2007 at 5:49 pmgood fucking riddance….and I hope he runs for prison inmate next year…he would get my vote (and a box of KY to take with him so he can get his GOP hole lubbed up)
June 2nd, 2007 at 9:30 pm“Lewis used his seat to steer earmarks towards to one of his closest friends…” “towards TO”? I hate to be the grammar police, but this is the second error I’ve noticed tonight.
June 2nd, 2007 at 10:38 pmDoesn’t our US House of Representatives have some kind of Ethics Committee-type thingy to investigate alleged wrongdoing like the kind Jerry Lewis is guilty of? And can’t they do things like compel him to resign immediately? We all know he’s guilty as hell no matter what he claims, so why should he be allowed to keep his seat for another year and a half? And, YES, the Democratic crooks, too!
Do they honestly think we believe they care about this behavior, enough to punish members who do it? It’s hard for me to believe they do. In fact, I’ll go so far as to surmise that many members of Congress believe that it’s okay a so long as no one finds out, but if they do, then you have to pretend to be sorry your actions appeared to be of bad intent.
June 2nd, 2007 at 10:48 pmAfter ousting their crooked media mogul P.M. Shiniwatra Thaksin, the Thailand courts have now banned his political party.
Now, anyone familiar with the level of corruption where I am known as farang should really think hard that the minority Republican vote rigging, internet spying, happily torturing, covert agent outing, justice obstructing party gets to continue merrily along, while the supposed majority “opposition” party sits with thumbs placed resolutely up their collective rears, only willingly removing them for Bush’s assaults.
I say it is way past due the People correct this matter, anyway possible.
Anyway, according to Thomas Jefferson.
Or, is it too hard for us to leave our screens and actually do something about it?
