Number of unidentified corpses found in Baghdad spikes.»

“The number of unidentified corpses discovered in Baghdad soared more than 70 percent during May,” from 441 in April to 726 last month, “according to new statistics from the Iraqi Ministry of Interior. The bodies, “many bound and shot in the head or showing signs of torture and execution,” are indicate that “sectarian killings are rising sharply as militias return to the streets after lying low during the first few months of the troop ’surge.’”

If it weren’t for religion, then what would these people fight over?

I noticed the Bush Regime just avoids discussions about this being a Civil War now…

  2. joe Says:

Whoa, I read that “Number of Unidentified Corpses Found On Baghdad Spikes.”

How bad is it that the idea of a number of corpses found impaled on spikes in Baghdad seems like a plausible headline to read in the morning news?

  3. Devil's Advocate Says:

But Holy Joe was just there and saw clear progress… I am confused.

As do those pretending that “redeployment” and monitoring from outside the country will somehow have a bearing on this violence.

Might be interesting to note the exact moment these stories stop being reported on TP. Maybe we could start a pool.

I hope I get “Election night 2008″, although “inauguration day 2009″ and “day troops are theoretically withdrawn and replaced with advisors wearing the same uniforms” might run a close second.

Heh. I read it the same way, and you’re right.

  6. Jason Baddo Says:

will we find the corpses of bush & the useless pelosi

  7. RUCerious Says:

So another failed “strategy” of embedding small units of troops closer or within the neighborhoods fails to stop the sectarian civil war.
    Who coulda predicted it?
OK, you can put your hands down now.

  8. RUCerious Says:

#3, I was asking about that, how many mutiliated corpses did Joey the shill Liebermann (I-Israel) interview?

  9. Mr. President Says:

What we need are Muslim Shiteater-Traps. Kinda like a mouse-trap, only we put some muslim-shit (you know… like the Qran) on a trip release, when the islamofascist shiteaters bow down to praise alibaba, I two giant (sure, spiked) jaws come down and crush their skulls.

    Mr. P.
Coprophagy is fairly common. Since no energy conversion is anywhere near maximum efficiency, the reingestion of waste materials often makes sense especially in environments where conditions are harsh. Reduce, reuse, recylcle! Perhaps if we work to improve the condition of the global “habitrail” rather than degrade it, there might be less need to eat shit and die.

Hey man, it’s their choice to eat the shit and then blow themselves up. But, it’s true, they have been spoon fed shit since day one of their miserable lives.

  12. MAF54 Says:

I like the way you think Mr. President.

    Thanks… hehehe… I’m the Decider… heh

  14. Mr. Rove Says:

Mr. President, don’t you think you could demonstrate your unsurpassed business deciderator skills to the public by announcing that from now on we’ll be shipping… well, shit, over to Iraq in the guise of foreign food aid? Obviously we won’t call it “shit”, but basically the idea - as you’ve probably already decided - would be to ship garbage overseas.

It’s a win-win situation, Mr. President. We get rid of our shit, and they get to eat shit. Everybody wins.

I’m going Colonial on their ass’, Karl. You know how the islamofascists’ like to burn the US flag and dance around sayin’ “ALlalalalalalala”.

    Here’s what I’m thinkin’….
We sell ‘em authentic US flags… infested with disease!!!
That way, we make a buck and fight ‘em with bioweapons!!!

  16. Mr. Rove Says:

Sounds fantastic, Mr. President. I’m also glad to see that you actually used the word Colonial and not Cologneal as you’ve done in the past. As you know, Sir, It is very important to use the right words when communicating with the public. They are a fickle bunch.

Cool plan! We eat their oil, while they eat our shit. Excellent plan Mr. Pres and his Child molester MAF54 chiel of staff. I think a better plan might be a modern day Thanksgiving although I think you probably gave your kids the bullshit story about the ignorant natives and the enlightened white folk

  18. piltdown Says:

    Winning the hearts and minds….

We’re “turning the corner”, right? This is the “last throes”?

  19. leftcoast Says:

    Has anyone seen Don Rumsfeld??

  20. Jake Says:

    piltdown:

Yes and yes. There were simply more corners / throes than we anticipated. At least we haven’t lost 58,000 American troops.

  21. NutWrench Says:

I seem to recall this administration recently saying that sectarian violence was “way down.” They wouldn’t lie to us, right?

    /sarcasm

  22. Devil's Advocate Says:

#21. Never! Not this bunch! They are the “family values” crowd! They observe EVERY one of the Ten Commandments.

Actually, your post #10 was more accurate. They eat their own islamobullshit. That is the problem.

  24. piltdown Says:

    Jake: You forgot one word…..”yet”

  25. celtic cynic Says:

But it’s such a nice safe place. Just ask McClain, Bush, Cheney, Lieberman, Rice, Rumsfeld and the rest of the political opportunists who visited there recently.
Shame that their names are not on any memorials.

  26. darth vader Says:

#25 - it’s an even bigger shame that their heads aren’t impaled on any baghdad spikes

  27. curmudgeon Says:

Surprised that the Neocons haven’t made the case that the unidentified corpses are those of Al-Qaeda operatives who’ve met such an untimely end due to the troop surge and that this provides definitive proof that the Boosh Administration was/is right, after all. It’s easy — just re-label the situation and the obedient MSM will spread the word. Also, maybe Chimpy and his buddies will just have to replace the Iraqi Ministry of Interior with someone who is willing to adhere to the company line. By the way, isn’t Wolfie looking for work?

  28. Wayne A. Schneider Says:

    joe, Zooey,

Me, too. I misread it in much the same way and had this image of pits with dead citizens impaled on spikes at the bottom.

But then I imagined that they were each wearing a mask of a different member of PNAC, and I smiled quietly to myself.

    Was that wrong?

    :)

  29. Jane E. Schneider Says:

I, too, thought that there was a pit full of spikes involved. I suppose if it read “rises” instead of “spikes”, the leap to “impalement” could have been avoided.

So, McCain then Lieberman (Pale and Paler), went over to Iraq, bought some rugs and sunglasses, and declared “All is well.” Well, then, send the troops home!

  30. Joe Nash Says:

For anyone who is a student of history and not a dupe of wartime propaganda bullshit, it is obvious that this “War” was lost when the Abu Graib torture scandal broke. An occupation only works if the occupier can persuade the occupied that they are better off than they were before. Even from the distance of 3000 miles it is obvious that the Iraqi people are not.

Since congress did not declare war against the state of Iraq, legally our nation is at peace. This is an illegal. colonial venture at the behest of the oil companies to loot Iraq of it it oil reserves. It is has all but destroyed our constitution. Why is there no talk about impeachment?

And why should Bush and co. get a pass in 2009? Arresting them and deporting them to the Hague to be tried for war crimes would be one giant step to restoring the stature of the United States in the eyes of the world.
