An occupation only works if the occupier can persuade the occupied that they are better off than they were before. Even from the distance of 3000 miles it is obvious that the Iraqi people are not. Since congress did not declare war against the state of Iraq, legally our nation is at peace. This is an illegal. colonial venture at the behest of the oil companies to loot Iraq of it it oil reserves. It is has all but destroyed our constitution. Why is there no talk about impeachment? And why should Bush and co. get a pass in 2009? Arresting them and deporting them to the Hague to be tried for war crimes would be one giant step to restoring the stature of the United States in the eyes of the world.
