– Gen. David Petraeus, the U.S. commander in Iraq, today, arguing that “it was too early to judge whether a Baghdad security crackdown was successful because the last of five extra brigades had yet to be deployed.” Apparently the additional 18,000 troops already sent to Iraq have been conducting something other than “real operations.”

I have a very close uncle who served in Korea (USMC) and he’s quite the historian. Reapectfully…could you give some details or your service? (i.e. branch, company, where served?) Uncle Bill loves to hear about fellow vets. Don’t think you two would get along too well when it comes to politics though- He believes that the constitution went out the window with the Patriot Act and that Bush should be removed from office.
BTW- I talked to a person today whose brother just returned from Iraq a couple of days ago. Says his brother is going to need a lot of help adjusting to life after war- just about lost it with the “camel” running the gas station yesterday- police involved. Fallujia (sp) was pretty rough on him I guess…combine that with seriously over-extended duty and one can understand how coping could be a problem. He also said his brother feels he fought for nothing but oil. When he wasn’t involved in operations he was guarding oil fields.

So what we have here is either: 1) we were lied to again when the White House propagandists called it a surge, or 2) Petraeus is incompetent by not executing the increase in troop levels as a real surge.

Hi, Harry Truman. Wayne A. Schneider here. I was a SSgt in the USAF, and from 1983 to 1988, I was stationed at Andrews AFB, Shemya AFB, and Ramstein AB in West Germany (as the car dealer said to Homer Simpson, “The country no longer exists.”) I was a Satellite Communications Equipment Systems Specialist (i.e., repairman).
Now that all that’s out of the way, would you mind doing me a favor and answering Zooey’s questions for me? I don’t think I need to repeat them for you.

What would all these macho super-soldier patriotic trolls do if some country from the other side of the world invaded and occupied the USA—all based on a pack of lies? Would they sit peacefully in their homes for four and a half years or would they become an “insurgent”. I hope I would become an insurgent. The ones who attacked us on 9/11 are sitting in PAKISTAN.
