Audience cheers as Tancredo slams Bush.

During tonight’s presidential debate, Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) was asked how he would use President Bush if he were elected president. Tancredo said he has “been so disappointed in the president in so many ways,” and that he would tell Bush to “never darken the doorstep” of his White House. The audience applauded. Watch it:

Asked the same question about Bush, former governor Tommy Thompson said he “would put him out on a lecture series” talking to “the youth of America” about “honesty” and “integrity.”

Digg It!

Transcript:

TANCREDO: Some time ago, in 2003 I think it was, that I got a call from Karl Rove, who told me that, because of my criticism of the president, I should never darken the doorstep of the White House.

I have been so disappointed in the president in so many ways since his — actually for the last several years, not just the immigration issue, but several other things, including the No Child Left Behind and the massive increase in government that we call prescription drug — Medicare prescription drug, that I’m afraid I would have to tell the president of the United States — I mean, as president, I would have to tell George Bush exactly the same thing Karl Rove told me.

If I recall, candidate George W. Bush said this in 2000:

“So when I put my hand on the Bible, I will swear to not only uphold the laws of our land, I will swear to uphold the honor and dignity of the office to which I have been elected, so help me God.”

“In my administration, we will ask not only what is legal but what is right. Not just what the lawyers allow, but what the public deserves.”

  8. profmarcus says:

tancredo is positively neanderthal… i had a run-in with him when i lived in denver and, i can tell you for sure, he is not a nice man… how someone like that manages to get elected is beyond me…

And, yes, I DO take it personally

    Comment by ForTruth

Uh, ForTruth, if you were referring to Tancredo w/ that comment, wouldn’t it be more accurate to say “speaking for fascism”, or even, “speaking on behalf of fascism”?

  14. SKdeA says:

Tommy Thompson’s nose must be permanently brown.

Oh c’mon, even the 28%ers had to roll their eyes at that one.

    I need to puke.

That was only on YOUR television, Jake…

  18. Jay Randal says:

Thompson would be wise to drop out, because Bush is dishonest.

  19. tanner says:

#4 Mr. Pee: we really don’t need you to tell us what’s retarded. You do an adequate job of demonstrating what’s retarded with every post.

Tancredo will probably get a call from Bush Senior to shut-up or die.

  24. Zooey says:

Trancredo is taking his bid for the nomination seriously — it looks like he dropped a few pounds.

    What a waste of time….

  25. Briseadh na Faire says:

For starters, I would like to see Bush in a sequel to this:

  26. JPV says:

LOL! Not that Bush isn’t an idiot, but I think that some stage manager must have accidentally hit the applause button.

  27. JPV says:

Did anyone see the lightening that struck when Rudy was answering about abortion?

    Comment by Jake

If it happened out in your pasture, that doesn’t mean that we can see it too.

TV doesn’t work that way Jake.

Ask your mommy to explain to to you sometime.

  28. Zooey says:

    #25 – Briseadh na Faire

Interesting. I’ll have to rent that.

  29. bob says:

And, Tommy Tom Thompson said he “would put him out on a lecture series” talking to “the youth of America” about “honesty” and “integrity.” What a comedian (or idiot) old Tom Tom is…

  30. numfar says:

The redefining of Bush continues…not long ago you couldn’t find a republican to say anything bad about the Shrub. Now, you find post after post saying Shrub isn’t a “true conservative”.

    Rats leaving a sinking ship.

Shrub is still a douchebag, though.

  31. TerrytheTurtle says:

I saw his nose double in size with that Plamegate lie.

  34. Jake says:

Here’s the best clip of the night (sorry for the typo earlier): http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/06/05/lightning-frightens-giuliani/

When former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was asked to respond to recent comments from a religious leader likening him to Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor who condemned Jesus to be crucified, lightning from outside the debate site briefly cut off his microphone.

As the other candidates jokingly backed away, Giuliani couldn’t pass up commenting on the strange coincidence “For someone who went to parochial schools all his life, this is a frightening thing that’s happening right now.”

  35. veritas says:

Tancredo (and perhaps Paul) is the only one with the courage and character to call a spade a spade. That’s why the audience cheered so loudly when he told the truth about Bush. All the rest of them are whining pussies – afraid of their own shadow but posturing like bullies to hide their obvious lack of courage.

  36. veritas says:

Basically, this debate resembled a bunch of robots attempting to pretend to engage in serious debate. Most of them have nothing truthful to say so they play the “empty rhetoric game” which is getting them no where with the people. I love the way none of them align themselves with Bush but, instead, attempt to cannonize their hero, Ronald Reagan. It reminds me of an Abbott and Costells routine actually.

They’re all wasting their time, energy, and money on running for President because the level of corruption in their party has eliminated ANY of them from gaining access to the white house. In fact, I would predict (with assurity) that no Republican will have an ice cube’s chance in hell of being elected to any office in this country for a very long time.

  37. veritas says:

For me, the best question of the night which was appropriately directed was the one on prescription drug prices and given to Guiliani who sits on the Board of Directors of Purdue Frederick, the manufacturer of Oxycontin. He is complicit in the knowledge that this drug was highly addictible and that board (including Rudy) agreed to keep this information from the public; in fact, they made a point of saying that it was not addicting at all. Guiliani will be worse than bush – he’s a lying hypocrite – and we’ve seen that already. Factor in his corrupt complicity with his friend, underworld’s Kerick, and his firm’s help in creating Kerick’s bogus application for Homeland security chief and you’ve got a prescription for disaster which will top that of George Bush.

  38. NeoCONS 'R' SCUM says:

( Colorado ) Tom has said that “if ‘merika is attacked by the terrrorists again, we should bomb Mecca and Medina”, to paraphrase his statement about retaliatory bombing ofIslamic holy sites.
He’s a scary, scary buffoon of a candidate who thankfully doesn’t have a chance.

  39. JSchmo says:

Bush is a failure to the GOP, the country and the world of EPIC proportions. He needs to be impeached before he can do anymore damage.

  40. Coffins draped with flags says:

Asked the same question about Bush, former governor Tommy Thompson said he “would put him out on a lecture series” talking to “the youth of America” about “honesty” and “integrity.”

That’s hysterical. It would only work if boy Bush was used as an example of what NOT TO DO. Boy Bush would have to be the example used to show what dishonesty and lack of integrity looks like.

  41. Coffins draped with flags says:

How long until Fox runs a graphic under Bush’s picture w/ a little (D) next to his name?

Should we take bets on this? That was really funny. But then again, boy Bush is Ruppert’s man.

  42. Kate Henry says:

“Tommy Thompson said he “would put him out on a lecture series” talking to “the youth of America” about “honesty” and “integrity.”

Well, if there ever was a reason NOT to vote for Thompson, this is it.

  43. rfinca says:

…Tancredo said he has “been so disappointed in the president in so many ways,” and that he would tell Bush to “never darken the doorstep” of his White House.

… I “would put him out on a lecture series” talking to “the youth of America” about “honesty” and “integrity.”

Excuse me while I throw up.

  44. CaptainMantastic says:

6 years of tackling tough decisions, instead of deferring them for somebody else, and people will not be happy with you.

Harry S. Truman in February 1952 had an approval rating of 22% for a very limited time. At the same time, Truman’s disapproval rating was 65% (falling 2% from 67% in January 1952).

  45. Jay Severin has a small pen1s says:

Funny that when the Democrats were calling Bush an idiot all this time Trancredo was hammering the Democrats. Sounds like he should issue an apology.

  46. kelso says:

Tommy Thompson said he “would put him out on a lecture series” talking to “the youth of America” about “honesty” and “integrity.”

I spit out my beer all over the T.V. when T. Thompson said that. Hilarious!!

  47. KimJones says:

I only have one thing that I agree with him on and that’s the ILLGAL IMMIGRATION BORDER SECURITY.
I don’t care what party you are from if the American people don’t come first in your book as legislaturers, then they must be removed.

  48. Afi K. James says:

    Trancredo speaks the truth here.
