Tucker thinks the Plame controversy is “bullsh*t.”

MSNBC’s Tucker Carlson, whose father, Richard Carlson, is on the advisory committee of Scooter Libby’s legal defense fund, spoke to Salon today about Valerie Plame’s covert status: “CIA clearly didn’t really give a sh*t about keeping her identity secret if she’s going to work at f*cking Langley.” Carlson then added “I call bullsh*t on that, I don’t care what they say,” regarding prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald’s assertion that Plame continued to travel under non-official cover while working at Langley. Plame herself has confirmed her covert status under oath.

Oh there’s another one of those commentators with a “liberal bias” our trolls love to talk about.

  2. Uncle Ho says:

    I think Tucker is bullsh*t!

  3. the republic of stupidity says:

Who cares what Tucker has to say?

  4. Tom3 says:

This is another Repuke talking point LIE.

    Valerie Plame WAS NOC undercover.

So was her “brassplate” cover company, Brewster Jennings.

Tucker Carlson is a lying jackass who covers up treason.

  5. Barbarian says:

    whose father, not who’s father.

  6. Bluedog49 says:

Right after the last Democratic debate, Tucker questioned whether Hillary was qualified to be president since she didn’t read the entire National Intelligence Estimate before the invasion of Iraq. But, oh, oh, last night during the Repub debate, McCaine and others admitted that they also didn’t read the entire intelligence estimate. No similar reaction from the little Tucker on that. With that kind of intellectual consistency, the little Tucker is a perfect spokesperson for duplicitous, sociopathic conservatives.

  7. Mr. Bush Goes To Hell says:

    Poor Tucker.

Maybe he can go to Iraq for his DEAR LEADER Bush, a TRAITOR.

And scooter libby is ANOTHER traitor to the USA.

WHY does Tucker HATE America and its SECURITY????

  8. VerbalKint says:

    Tucker Carlson is an idiot.

  9. Armando Gomez says:

Tucker Carlson’s MSNBC answers to those who are in power. The powers that be are on the side of the Bush administration. When such evidences as the Downing Street Memo can be brought up on Carlson’s spot it’s easy for Tucker to “bullshit.”

  10. Tom3 says:

This is another example of Repukes living in a Bizarro World of their own creation, one which is directly opposed to reality.

Valerie Plame WAS undercover, so they insist she wasn’t.

Scooter Libby DID cover this up, so they say he did nothing wrong.

Libby’s coverup prevented Fitzgerald from getting to the bottom of Plamegate and filing indictments for leaking, so the Repukes say there was no underlying crime.

Repukes are delusional psychotics who have suffered a break with reality. They need strong medications, strait jackets, and a rubber room to stay in.

And that especially goes for the Repuke trolls in here.

  11. Candyce says:

And what makes Tucker such an expert…on anything?

  12. pgw says:

“I call bullsh*t on that, I don’t care what they say”

that pretty much sums up the right wing’s views on any number of issues. 30% Über Alles!

  13. Keith H. says:

Any dude named Tucker wearing a bow-tie can’t expect to be taken seriously.
I mean really, he could easily find employment as a circus clown.

  14. Tom3 says:

Tucker Carlson should be fired by MSNBC.

    Add his hour to Countdown.

Carlson can always get a job at FOX News.

They love biased cretins like him.

  15. Zooey says:

    What liberal media?

  16. hit_escape says:

I agree, just because Tucker goes to work at MSNBC, doesn’t mean he is a journalist.

  17. Uncle Ho says:

“who cares what Tucker has to say?”- comment by the republic of stupidity

    Certainly not I.

  18. Tom3 says:

I’m reading Al Gore’s Assault on Reason. It is excellent.

Tucker Carlson is doing the same thing that the Global Warming deniers are doing, introducing enough doubt into the public arena so as to derail the democratic process.

Valerie Plame was NOC. That is a fact proven in court.

If she wasn’t NOC, the CIA would never have filed the complaint in the first place.

  19. Zooey says:

Tucker, babes, you’re all grown up now. Stop having dinner at mom & dad’s house every night, and learn to think for yourself. I know, I know, it will probably be worse than it is now, but at least you’ll be doing it for yourself.

    Be strong, boy!

  20. hellinabucket says:

Tucker Carlson? Can’t really muster up any feelings at all about the bowtied wonder. I don’t care if he, or anyone else, can’t understand the evidence out there.

    He’s paid to whine.

  24. Crump's Brother says:

    TUCKER!!!

    LIBBY LIED TO FEDERAL INVESTIGATORS!!!

put the not so ancillary stuff away, and your still stuck with a guy that was a high ranking government official, and attorney, Chief of Staff to the Vice-President of the United States, and he LIED to a grand jury, and obstructed a legal investigation.

WHERE ARE YOU TOUGH ON CRIME CONSERVATIVES?!?!?!?

  25. Shawn Fassett says:

Can we just have Rachel Maddow kick Tucker in the balls?

  26. spit take says:

I think it’s disturbing that the CIA can’t be trusted as an authority on who was or was not covert in its ranks.

Who can we turn to for the straight story? I know! Tucker Carlson!
    He knows!

I sometimes wonder just WHAT it would take to convince these people that Valerie Plame was a covert officer? I mean, her own testimony certainly wasn’t enough… the testimony of the DCI wasn’t enough…

I used to think that maybe they’d believe it if Bush himself came out and said it, but Bush came out and said Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11 and there were no WMDs and a lot of ‘em still believe tHOSE fictions.

What the hell would it take?

  27. Crump's Brother says:

I just hope the Plame’s get to pursue their civil suit. That way we will finally get Libby, Rove, Cheney, and Armitage on the stand under oath. Then when they all lie again, they can all go to jail for perjury!!

  28. Lora says:

This is practically a non-story. Really, would anyone expect anything else from Tucker Carlson?

  29. clb72 says:

Tucker brought down the credibility of Dancing with the Stars. Enough said.

  30. KRank says:

I sometimes wonder just WHAT it would take to convince these people that Valerie Plame was a covert officer? …

    Comment by spit take — June 6, 2007 @ 5:35 pm

It would take that information somehow serving their political ends. THEN they’d believe it.

  31. NeoCONS 'R' SCUM says:

imus was right- he IS PUSSY CARLSON. rode in on da-da’s coattails and why he’s still on -???????????????????

  32. Bob says:

Well, at least nobody involved still works in the administration, just like they said, right?

  33. Uncle Ho says:

pssst. 5 will get you 10 that Tuck’s bow ties are clip-ons. He’s waaaaay too dumb to actually tie a real one.

  34. Wayne says:

Why should Tucker care about the FACTS that the CIA AND Fitzgerald both state Plame was covert?
He is happy to have his own A$$ to pull his own “facts” out of.

Sorry Tucker, that sh*t you are seeing came from no bull, but from a chickenhawk. Yes, from your own a$$.
Now go wash your hands, boy.

  35. Marie says:

Tucker can call “bullshit” as much as he wants, but he has nothing more than his own lame opinion. The CIA as well as the investigation provided evidence that she was a covert agent — if he wants to remain in denial — that’s his problem.

  36. nl says:

She’s lied under oath about Joe’s trip. She’s going to jail just like Libby.

  37. Karim says:

    Carlson is full of shit.

  38. Bluedog49 says:

The little Tucker’s ratings have been in the dumper for years now. At times, less than 20,000 total viewers in the U.S. were watching his show. But, he’s still on the air. Phil Donehue, by contrast had the second highest ratings on the network at the time his show was cancelled. This is what conservatives call the “liberal media.”

Oh, and please keep in mind that this high-minded “liberal” site, Salon, is still muddying up the waters on the issue long after the CIA stated clearly that Plame was a covert agent. Evidently Salon editor Joan Walsh loves appearing on “Hardball” and wants to be invited back.

Why should anybody care about the bullsh*t Tucker has to say? He’s just one irrelevant hard-headed opinion vs. actual fact.

  44. Mr. Bush Goes To Hell says:

“scooter” Libby was NOT just Dick Cheney’s CHIEF of STAFF…

    Nor just Marc Rich’s ATTORNEY.

    Scooter ALSO held the title:

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE USA.

So, the PRESIDENT’S assistant is facing JAIL TIME.

Remember this when your right-wing “friends” say “no crime”.

The ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE USA.

  45. Tom3 says:

Repuke talking point LIE: “There was no underlying crime”.

Then why did Scooter and others try to cover it up?

If there was no crime, they didn’t have to cover up anything.

As the judge and Fitz said, Scooter’s obstruction of justice prevented Fitz from getting to the bottom of this case and indicting the leakers.

Scooter deserves every minute of that 30 month sentence.

  46. TerrytheTurtle says:

They say “ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT”.

    Tucker defends CRIMINALS.

So does Foxnews and the RNC “debating squad”…

  49. President Clinton says:

Yes she did and the Congress is investigating possible charges against Plame for she lied under oath.

    Tucker is shrill. And potty-mouthed.

  52. Crump's Brother says:

    valiantthehater,

“Yes she did and the Congress is investigating possible charges against Plame for she lied under oath. ”

With the lies already? Not only did she testify that she was covert, but CIA director Hayden confirmed as much in a letter to the House Judiciary Committee:

On March 16, 2007, Plame testified before the committee. Henry Waxman read a prepared statement that was cleared by CIA director Michael Hayden. It read in part:

“ “During her employment at the CIA, Ms. Wilson was undercover. Her employment status with the CIA was classified information, prohibited from disclosure under Executive Order 12958. At the time of the publication of Robert Novak’s column on July 14, 2003, Ms. Wilson’s CIA employment status was covert. This was classified information. Ms. Wilson served in senior management positions at the CIA in which she oversaw the work for other CIA employees and she attained the level of GS-14 — Step Six under the federal pay scale. Ms. Wilson worked on some of the most sensitive and highly secretive matters handled by the CIA. Ms. Wilson served at various times overseas for the CIA.”

  53. Angry One says:

As predicted, virtually the entire conservative chattering class continues to deny that Valerie Plame was a covert CIA agent even though CIA documents submitted to the court confirmed her status.

    For more, see:
    “The Libby Sentence: Burning Questions.”

  54. Bluedog49 says:

Tom3: “Repuke talking point LIE: “There was no underlying crime”.

Critical thinking. Careful. I think they can arrest you for that these days.

  55. Mr. Bush Goes To Hell says:

    REALLY??

    PROOF??

By the way, Mr. Clinton, my daddy LOVES to suck on the “clenis”.

  57. dogjudge says:

What I love is that the conservative website Townhall.com just had a column written by Dennis Prager who was complaining about “buck fush” bumper stickers and how liberals just can’t communicate without using profanity.

  58. Tom3 says:

To prove perjury you have to prove intent.

I don’t see any intent by Plame to obstruct justice.

This is a bogus attempt by Repukes to discredit Plame.

She’s already been through enough at their hands.

  59. Tom3 says:

This new “Plame lied to Congress” is being pushed by one whacko Repuke in Congress.

There’s nothing to it. Plame was the victim, she has no incentive to obstruct justice or perjure herself. I seriously doubt this will come to anything.

  60. dogjudge says:

President Clinton nice to see you getting your facts screwed up as usual.

It’s actually Victoria Toensing who Congress is thinking about bringing them before them again and charging HER with lying to Congress.

But, you’ve never let the real facts get in your way before, why start now.

  61. Crump's Brother says:

    valiantthehater,

here’s some more evidence that helps confirm her ‘once’ covert status.

The unclassified summary of Plame’s employment with the CIA at the time that syndicated columnist Robert Novak published her name on July 14, 2003 says, “Ms. Wilson was a covert CIA employee for who the CIA was taking affirmative measures to conceal her intelligence relationship to the United States.”

Plame worked as an operations officer in the Directorate of Operations and was assigned to the Counterproliferation Division (CPD) in January 2002 at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

The employment history indicates that while she was assigned to CPD, Plame, “engaged in temporary duty travel overseas on official business.” The report says, “she traveled at least seven times to more than ten times.” When overseas Plame traveled undercover, “sometimes in true name and sometimes in alias — but always using cover — whether official or non-official (NOC) — with no ostensible relationship to the CIA.”

I had a W. mask on with a T-shirt in bold letters ‘war criminal’ and waving a 3′ x 5′ red, white, & blue peace flag. One guy stopped a shouted “you should be ashamed of yourselves.’ but most were supportive giving peace signs, thumbs up & honking their horns for peace.

  76. JTitor says:

    49. Comment by President Clinton — http://thinkprogress.org/leak-rebuttal

And specifically that congress is investigating Plame? No thier not. Your talking point regarding Plame’s testimony:

“I want to ask you now under oath,” Lynch said. “Did you make the decision to send Ambassador Wilson to Niger?”

“No,” Plame Wilson replied. “I did not recommend him, I did not suggest him, there was no nepotism involved; I didn’t have the authority.”

All the right wing talking heads leave out Lynch’s question and refer her testimony to a memo she had written stating that her husband may be willing to go. Thats their smoking gun that she lied to congress? If she would have left out “nepotism” and “I didn’t have the authority”, then this sentence could be misconstrued as she didn’t have the authority to recommend, or suggest that Ambassador Wilson be dispatched to Niger. Again, Troll people. Troll-Mart is not getting their monies worth here. You all should be fired.

    .

  78. OutSourced says:

The whole controversy is a red herring to aide a mid-fifties aged former government lawyer, bureaucrat and convicted felon who still calls himself by his high school nickname. The CIA reluctantly revealed Ms. Plame’s covert status only after the WH made her unemployable as an intelligence asset.

Any time Ms. Plame’s travels took her within the jurisdiction of another government, another set of laws and police methods, and required her to engage in intelligence work without admitting that’s what she was doing, she was doing dangerous work.

Governments, including ours, call that spying, and don’t like it, not even when friendly govts doing it. Ms. Plame sought secrets from very nasty govts, businesses and non-state actors. The only clandestine work Tucker Carlson has ever done is masquerade on television as an intellectual.

  89. the fly-man says:

I love all these back peddling excuse making toensing kool aid drinkers making up their own ideas of how the CIA should operate. If they are such insiders why don’t they tell us why the VP shut down the very same WMD operation that was covering Iran? Where is the outrage over that? After all isn’t Iran the ultimate boogey man that we can never allow to have WMDS? Mr. Cheney needs to get himself some chicken necks and a pole with some string and sit his down on his dock at his Eastern Shore villa and retire to some simple crabbing. We’ll be a lot better off if he does.

  90. Snarky McAngus says:

Tucker’s like many sophomoric “thinkers” who believe calling bulls*@t means anything. Now, if he’d offer any proof besides Toensing’s version of bulls*@t, there might be a debate. But then that would be playing into the hands of the “reality-based community” that operates on “liberal” ideas like reason and evidence.

  91. Kate Henry says:

The one fact that Valerie Plame was a covert officer is often overlooked. And what is that fact? The fact that she worked under a cover company called Brewster Jennings. Why would she work under a cover company if she wasn’t a covert agent. And, I believe that Fitzgerald totally missed his opportunity because Novak revealed the name of the cover company so this information was also leaked to him. Whomever leaked the name of the cover company to Novak not only put Valerie Plame’s life at risk, they put every other covert agent working under that cover at risk.

  92. Shuichi says:

    I can’t stand that little weasel Tucker. He’s bulls**t.

  93. Tomazulob says:

Awwwwww, Tucker, what’s the matter? Did someone disagree with your preconceived opinions? It’s OK, stop crying, Tuckee. Here’s another bow tie. Go on now, and don’t bother your pretty head. Sheesh, and I so wanted a son.
