Last week, CNN announced that it had hired a reporter to cover “things like Britney, as well as the Michael Jackson memorabilia.” Today, during a preview of its coverage of Paris Hilton’s jail term, a CNN anchor described the network as “the most trusted name in Paris news.”

Sarah Silverman blasts Paris Hilton at the MTV awards… with Paris right there

June 7th, 2007 at 4:58 pmshe was’nt eating her jail food….. maybe it was the crushed lightbulbs……
June 7th, 2007 at 5:00 pmThere is no need for this story. The CNN newsreader was being facetious and the story is a waste of nadwidth.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:01 pmI’m sure it was a tounge in cheek remark.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:02 pmCNN—“the most trusted name in Paris news?†The way CNN reported the following up to the war in Iraq, I hope they do a better job with Paris Hilton. She deserve better.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:03 pmPathetic!
June 7th, 2007 at 5:03 pmI didn’t know Paris ate food.
Sarah Silverman is so effing fine. Millions of times better than stupid Paris.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:03 pmYeah. This is something to be proud of CNN.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:04 pmTHe clip was funny. Paris got totally roasted. In a bad way.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:04 pmThe so-called “BREAKING NEWS” of Miss Hilton’s release from jail at first pissed me off because why is this heifer’s release from jail considered “BREAKING NEWS”? But then I stopped and thought about it…
What the PLUCK??? Why is she receiving preferential treatment? How many individuals in this country right now have violated the terms of their parole/probation and are sitting in prison/jail right now with no option of being sent home with an ankle monitor? More than likely, there are thousands, so again, why is this woman receiving preferential treatment?
Our justice system is in hell and the judge that ordered this needs his/her everlovin’ ass kicked…!!!!
June 7th, 2007 at 5:05 pm(sarcasm)
LOL, I know what happened. She found out that you have to clean you our cell in jail and fell into a depression. They had to let her out after that. Can you imagine if she had to clean her crapper? It would have killed her.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:07 pmIf I had to guess, the judge might have been concerned about bad press, or getting sued by the Hiltons.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:09 pmLindsey Lohan said Paris was a bitch and a cow. Pot meet kettle.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:09 pm#3: What the crap is nadwidth?
On second thought, I don’t want to know.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:10 pm…any news on the secret “Cavity Search Tapes” that Paris doesn’t (cough, cough) want released yet?
June 7th, 2007 at 5:10 pmNews like these and the rush to cover them by the media in a frenzy fashion,is what politicians love to see…
Politicians love to be off the peoples’ radar screen when things are gone bad,and what better days than these days for politicians when the major television networks spend their energy on stories like Paris Hilton, J. Jackson, Nicole Smith etc. etc…
It is Rove’s dreams came true.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:12 pmSarah Silverman is hawt.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:12 pmThe material cable news networks choose to show is a direct reflection of what the viewers want to see. It’s not the cable news’ fault. Its a reflection of what people are interested in.
Which confirms that many Americans are willfully ignorant.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:14 pmWhy is this girl famous? She’s a twit! The real news ought to be that this spoiled pseudo-princess is out of jail when any average girl would be toughing it out — whatever the problem might be.

You seem to know a lot about Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan……
Why is Princess Paris out of jail?
June 7th, 2007 at 5:18 pmShe’s famous cuz she had a sex video. A really crappy one at that.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:19 pmThey said Paris was let out due to “medical” reasons. Crap I used to work with Methadone patients, and when they went to jail, no methadone, and got real sick, and tough crap.
I bet she said she was suicidal, it works pretty good in lots of situations.

For unspecified medical reasons. Methinks she chipped a tooth.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:25 pmNo not a German Shieza video.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:25 pmWell, “things like Britney,” at least, is accurate terminology. It’s a start.

Oh heavens. Like I said “everyday average nobody girl” would be sitting in jail right now. I’d get pissed off if Paris really mattered….
June 7th, 2007 at 5:35 pmJesus H. Christ. I am so glad that I got rid of my television in early 2002 and now get news only from the New York Times and online liberal blogs. This makes me want to upchuck. If only I could do so on Paris.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:35 pmWhat does the H stand for in Jesus H. Christ anyway?
June 7th, 2007 at 5:40 pmNicholson got a kick outta that!!!
June 7th, 2007 at 5:46 pmLA county jail is way overcrowded. In fact, if you are in for any non violent crime then there’s a good chance you will get released quickly. (except for prob violation)
June 7th, 2007 at 5:51 pmCNN is becoming goofy like FOX phony news network.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:56 pmWhat is with this jihad against the rich, powerful and limitlessly privileged? Is nothing sacred? First Duke Cunningham, then Bob Ney, Tom Noe, Jack Abramoff, the persecution of Tom DeLay, Kucinich’s articles of impeachment of Dick Cheney, the witchhunt involving virtually the entire Ohio GOP, the hounding of Paul Wolfowitz and Alberto Gonzales, now Scooter Libby.
THEN… Then, I read today that Paris Hilton’s sentence got bumped back up to its original Draconian 45 days because she chose house detention in her 2700 square foot mansion.
My God, people, is nothing sacred, anymore?!

You’re not confused at all. I live in Los Angeles and it is VERY common for people with non-violent offenses to be released early. Michelle Rodriguez, the actress from Lost, had DUI and received 60 days. She was out in two or three days. Sometimes, inmates are processed in and released hours later.

You might not have gotten the “chipped a tooth” line. In one of her shticks from the MTV awards, Sarah Silverman suggested that Paris’ cell was being prepared for her by painting the bars to look like, um, penii? And was concerned that, as a result, Paris might chip a tooth.
Paris was in the audience and was probably the only person not doubled over in laughter.

I agree. What a freaking circus…first they have to tape her having sex and now, they put her in jail and now let her go… *yawn*
By they, I mean all the people who get richer by this type of “scandals”.
Zoo. I feel like I havent seen you in a while. I have to go, but drop me a line, dont be so bad!! :P

You’re right, I didn’t get that. What a lovely reputation Mizz Paris has. And how well loved. Oy…..
(I tried to watch that, but my computer wasn’t having it. Probably for the best, I think)
June 7th, 2007 at 6:21 pmIf I wasn’t willing to extend you the benefit of the doubt, I’d think your take on CNN hiring someone to cover these stories was snide in tone. That said, thank God Paris is free as a bird tonight. I’ll look forward to CNN’s coverage of this triumph of common sense, and hope the coverage is wall-to-wall.

Me? Bad? Never!! :-D
June 7th, 2007 at 6:34 pmI saw the news anchor this morning having to report on Paris’ release, and he was obviously discusted with it….he ended it short and said, “Well, enough of that.”
Maybe the News Anchors are tired of the NON-NEWS stories for the mentally impaired.
IGNORE THE TROLLS - Debate is good - Trolling is bad
June 7th, 2007 at 6:46 pmOne thing I have not gotten in all this is where has MADD been while all this goes on …… they are usually outspoken. I think they have done a great job raising awareness, holding people accountable, educating the public ………. or am I in my own bubble out here in the desert. And how can the sheriff release someone, I thought that would be a judicial matter. And …….. no one can talk about the reason? WTF
June 7th, 2007 at 7:26 pmI was thinking it was Jesus Hilton Christ.
June 7th, 2007 at 7:52 pmJ. Hilton Christ?
June 7th, 2007 at 7:56 pmJack Bauer and Bill Buchanan from CTU pulled some strings to get Paris released.
They need her help.
Paris is a very highly regarded counter-terrorism agent.
Everyone knows this.
June 7th, 2007 at 10:10 pmThat’s the last straw. I will no longer watch any CNN programming. When these clowns get rid of the likes of Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck, and move away from tabloid news I might return. For now, adios!
June 8th, 2007 at 12:08 amEveryone is treating this vapid bitch like royalty.
